  1. I definitely agree on the random bursts of exercises. I've recently gotten in the habit of doing squats whenever I'm (alone and) standing around waiting for something like the microwave. It's weird, but you know...why not? Those Tough Mudders look really fun, and since you've already done a couple, I'm sure with a year you'll destroy WTM2016.
  2. Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm trying to give myself both long and short-term goals (ie, 66lbs in a year, 1.5lbs per week), to maintain motivation. I'm definitely going to try to do some strength training. My apartment building has a (really crappy) gym that at least has some free weights. I was doing it 3x a week earlier this year but I just sort of fell off the wagon. It's pretty depressing going back and having to start all the way back at the beginning again, but I suppose that's the price you pay for getting lazy! lol. I also really like walking and can happily walk for an hour or more, though it's starting to get a little cold outside and the idea of walking on the treadmill just seems really boring.
  3. Hi everyone, my name is Bria (only "Bria" was taken so now I'm Briaa). I am 5'5" and weigh 215lbs. For the last few months, I've been gradually getting into exercise, trying various things, but I think I really need something to make me commit because I'm not doing a very good job holding myself accountable. I'm also a huge nerd/geek/dork (depending on what you're talking to me about), so I figured this website might be good for me, and hopefully I can make some new friends in the process. I have a little bit of a challenge when it comes to exercise, as I have a condition that gives me very painful muscles and joints - but I'm not letting it become an excuse again, I just need to do low-impact activities, at least until I weigh less and it's hopefully easier. Alas, it means I cannot run, but I do enjoy biking. One day I would love to get into martial arts, but I think I need to work up to that! So anyway, onwards: Main Quest To weigh 149lbs by November 1st, 2016. A 66-pound weight loss over twelve months is 5.5 pounds per month, or 1.27lbs per week. (Why 149? Because that's officially within the 'healthy weight range' for my height, and I would no longer be considered 'overweight'.) Quest One Do at least 150 minutes of exercise per week Quest Two Only eat dessert once a week Quest Three Be able to bicycle 20km by the end of this challenge (December 14) Motivation: To feel healthier, to get outside and experience the world, to become more confident. Life Side Quest: Complete NaNoWriMo this November!
