  1. OMG sushi. Also, I just sucked it up and bought a tub of plain Greek yogurt yesterday for the first time ever. We'll see how it goes!
  2. Fireworks! Grills! Bricks! Geoducks! I like it. Happy 1000!
  3. I thought about you after the Supreme Court decision the other day. Did you see that someone made a song out of Ruth Ginsburg's dissenting opinion? I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
  4. Mir needs picshuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuures
  5. How was the first day back at work? And the dr? And the weekend? And how are you feeling today?
  6. Agreed. Way to go on 5x5! Could be that you just needed to get psyched up did i look at your deadlift already? Mind is fuzzy from weekend adventures. If not, I'm happy to!
  7. Do you do many bodyweight squats? If you do, and go all the way ass to grass, you'll notice that you sort of bounce out of the hole - that's the stretch reflex. It's like when you pull a rubber band and it wants to go back to its natural shape. So you can definitely take advantage of that. If you're concerned about not getting to parallel, I would video and then take a look, and then do a bunch of squats so you can kind of grease the groove and feel where it is. It'll become second nature. As far as heavy walkouts - and I wouldn't normally suggest this but if you already feel bad - load up the bar like you're going to squat. Then maybe even put another 20 kilos on. Just one moderate-sized plate. Put it on the outside. Make sure you have the collars on! And then do a mini-heavy walkout. Then unloading it won't take so long. I definitely wouldn't recommend this as a normal practice; I like to have my plates in order. But if time is a consideration, you might think about it. How long do you usually rest between sets? I go anywhere from 90 seconds to 5 minutes depending on the lift and how hard it is. Also! Maybe other people could work in with you with the squats. It's a bit tedious but it works. Especially if you get someone squatting about the same weight.
  8. You're doing great! I love seeing your progress!
  9. So, yeah, love the idea of a donation drive. I would totally donate.
  10. Hmmm, I do think I remember you mentioning that. "But it happened YESTERDAY!!! How do you expect me to remember that TODAY??? It was so long ago!"
  11. Hahahhaha! That sounds awesome! All the archery. As far as the running, do you have problems running now? I know it's harder when you are heavier but it's also pretty awesome. Of course, walking is awesome too. I say awesome a lot. Oh well.
  12. Omigod. Yes. It's all happening! I have a lot more to say but I'm sort of supposed to be working and I feel kinda guilty that I'm not (pretty much for the first time ever) so Imma go get on hat. Have a greeeeeeeeeeeat vacation! TWO WEEKS
  13. Supposed to be working from home. For some reason cannot connect to state network. FML. So instead here I am! Yesterday - No zeroes: No zeroes! Went to work, I think I even did a little work, went to therapy. Watched a movie with Mr Mir (Almost Famous - thanks SS for putting that in my head!). Had some other things I wanted to do re: house and re: getting rid of junk, but decided that some time with Mr Mir was more important. 3 Mes: thanks, past me, for vagging up and going to the gym. We appreciate that. For future me, other than all the other stuff I have planned today, I want to get one box from the basement and take pictures of everything in it and post it on Facebook as free. It's time to start downsizing, and that won't take more than 10 minutes. Lots of other stuff going on today, though, and I'm not looking forward to the dr appts. I am looking forward to getting my glasses though! Forgiveness: I forgive you, past me, for not being productive at work. I forgive you, past me, for not doing productive things at home. Exercise and books: exercise yes, books no. Books hopefully this weekend.
  14. I'm going to do some more today! And yeah. Jdanger suggested doing the bb ankle stretch for a couple minutes. But I didn't remember that so I only did 30s. But he also suggested hip internal and external rotation exercises so I am looking those up now. And goblet squats. I only have a 10 lb dumbbell but it's better than nothing for days I am not at work. As far as the fasting, I just haven't been hungry. Normally I like to have some yogurt about 1.5 hours before working out because it helps my energy, but I just haven't wanted it. And there are some days I've been only eating one meal. My energy levels seem ok though, and there are other days where I'll eat plenty, so I'm not overly concerned about it at the moment. Feel free to give me horse tips! Husbands are like animals, right??? (I kid, I kid) I agree! Having a grasp of the situation definitely helps. I will check out the article for sure! Thank you! How are YOU doing? Ugh. I am so tired of waiting and having stupid side effects. And life togetherness. So hard! I guess you just have to take it one day at a time, huh?
  15. The bulk question is a good one for Waldo. Maybe ask him. Also, did I already invite you to my party on Saturday and you said you were busy? Mir has the memory of a goldfish.
  16. Mmmmm......sole......I had a huge tuna steak last night. It was awesome. I'm so excited for you for the sprint! Mr Mir and I are probably not going to make it....maybe Chicago.....
  17. Lol. That's hilarious. I do stupid shit like that all the time!!! Okay. So I am surprised that you are having trouble with 52.5. Do you think it is a mental thing? Lifting, I swear, is 90% mental. That you got 4 on your LAST set (when you should be most fatigued and most in danger of failing), tells me that you have enough gas in the tank. Have you been trying the heavy walk-outs? I wonder if that would help. Also, especially on squats, don't be afraid to try to grind it out. Have you failed on bench? Because failing on bench is NOTHING like squats (as a woman). Often, if you get stuck at that ooooooooone spot on squats, even if you stop going UP for a minute, you can grind it out. With bench, when the arms are done, they are done. I would advise you to try it and notice the difference. In other words, my favorite phrase, vag up girlfriend! If you are truly failing because the weight is too heavy, try doing more volume at the lower weight. Do 10 reps at 50, or 51.25. Do 5 sets of 10 if you can. Sometimes that helps. Then your next squat session, try 52.5 again. You got this, I swear. You can do it!
  18. I think that's totally acceptable. I didn't have crazy knee surgery, but I did have a cholecystectomy (laparoscopic, thank god) and that was bad enough. The first couple days I definitely didn't care about aaaaaaaaaanything. My recovery was a lot quicker so I can't even imagine what you're going through. I think as long as you survive, you should count this challenge as a success!!! <3
  19. Nice! And I fully support yoga, especially with the weight lifting. Keep those muscles stretchy! Welcome to the Rebellion!
  20. Haha. I'm not great at the vocab either. Or the phones for that matter. So this should be good.
  21. Hooray for those things! That's great to hear.
  22. Five just didn't feel hard enough! So I went for it.
  23. Yes indeed!!!! Wait. I thought you weren't doing the sprint because of $$$. What happened?
  24. Probably not. But I haven't talked to Mr Mir about it or Chicago yet.
