Training Jump Rope Halos 6 singles Pullups 8 Getups 5x10 KB Swings 90/90 Pigeon pose Upward dog Figure 4 Still taking it easy on the low back and so far it is doing great. No pain day to day and I haven't noticed any twinges when I bend over. I guess enough time has passed that it is finally healed up and so far the Swings are not bothering it.

Training Jump Rope 6 singles Pullups 6 Getups 4x10 KB Swings Hip flexer stretch 90 /90 Pigeon pose Figure 4 Good training session. Food I have been experimenting with intermittent fasting, which is what the younger people call skipping breakfast. My results have been meh. Easy to follow but clear thinking and alertness swing to the opposite if I go the full 16 hours. Seem to get the full benefit if I eat some light protein like eggs around the 14 hour mark then lunch as usual. Maybe I am not noticing much since it is not that different from what I typically do. Usually just a light breakfast midmorning of 2 eggs and a piece of toast. I'll keep playing around with it and see if it worth fooling with. But not today. I am splurging with bagals and lox. As I said I typically don't have a carb bomb first thing in the morning since it can mess with my blood sugar and give me a nice headache to start the day but I love bagals and lox and I really can't remember the last time I had it. So excited!

I love chicken livers. Although I think I have ever only eaten them fried. Are gizzards a thing outside of the US south? I have never thought of making pate with them before. I will have to try it.

The report for my zip code. Both Walmarts in town are closed because they didn't have enough workers to even stock shelves. Like a early warning system for the apocalypse. Thanks for that. I was feeling damaged and in a way I am, but just if compared to normal times which we are definitely not in right now. Reptile brain survival mode is not something that I had considered but it makes complete sense. Although as I said I am not certain if that mode will ever turn off now that it has activated. As you said maybe the path forward is the path forward. Figure out what now instead of being upset that our old normal is gone. Crying, spilled milk, etc. I will contemplate what can be instead of what was. Or something like that as long as I don't slide off into Howard Hughes weirdness. Thanks again Scaly. I was beating myself up for something that I shouldn't have. You always know how to add some perspective.

So I watched a old movie that had been recorded in our DVR a few years ago. It was recorded on regular network TV so it had the usual commercials and something about them bothered me and a few made me vaguely uncomfortable but I just couldn't put my finger on what exactly it was. Until I realized that these were all from pre-covid times and no one was wearing a mask and several of them took place in large crowds with close contact. It has been such background wallpaper thing that I haven't really noticed that most commercials now show only one or two people or have people in masks even if it is a commercial for a prescription rash cream. I really thought I had escaped any mental side effects of non-family isolation and general pandemic anxiety that the last year plus has brought to all of us. It made me realize that the few errands I have done I have been fine with the handful of people I see in the store but start getting anxious when that number increases or someone wants to linger in the isle next to me. Is my brain completely broken now? Will I ever feel comfortable in a crowd of people ever again? My fears are not completely unreasonable since I live in a area where the infection rate is the highest in the state and the state is competitive in the top worst in the country right now but where is that line between reasonable and long term damage to my mental health? I am not sure and I am not running out right now to go crowd surfing at a concert any time soon. But now I am worried that one day when all this is over it is going to be a struggle to feel normal again if ever.

Training Shin Box with hip extensions 2x2 Pullups 4 Getups 2x4 Pushups 4x10 KB Swings Tired this morning and just went through the motions. Daughter joined me again and she can now do a getup cleanly. She is a quick learner and already has the hinge down too for deadlifts, may show her how to swing next.

Training Prying Goblet Squats Bridges Halos Shin Box with hip extensions 3x2 Pullups 3x4 Pushups 4 Getups 4x10 KB Swings Hip flexer stretch Pigeon pose Nice little workout. I was surprised that I could do two Pullups. My 16 year old daughter wanted to get up and workout with me today. I taught her how to hinge and do KB deadlifts and she did some ugly unloaded Getups. We will work on it. Nice to work out together with her and share some things.

Good points. I think it was a passing whim fueled by the giddiness of a gift card. I think I am going to save it and use it for a heavier kettlebell.
-
No, debating. Steel mace flow videos have caught my eye. Not sure if I would actually use it that much or not but I was given a gift card for my birthday and wondering if I should blow it on a mace.

Do I need a steel mace?

Training 6 singles Half Pullups 4 Getups 3x10 KB Swings Got up late making up for lack of sleep the prior night. Sigh. No warm up or cool down today which probably isn't the best idea but with such low volume is probably OK. Anxiety without a known driver is through the roof this week. Fun times.

After the last 18 months I have really gotten used to working from home and do not want to return which is a big surprise to me. I may be ruined forever now.

Training Prying Goblet Squats Bridges Halos 6 Half Pullups 4 Getups 3x10 KB Swings Shin Box with hip extensions Pigeon pose Upward dog Good session. Not as strong as yesterday but still very good. Back is doing well with the Swings. Work Update So stuff is officially hitting the fan down here. My work sent everyone back to work from home for another month to try again to come back in September. I was only in the office for a month. In other signs of the apocalypse the local Walmart can't do pick up orders right now because all their shoppers are out sick. And the local pharmacy has set up a drive through covid test because they had lines of coughing people inside waiting for the test.

Sleep is a key enabler that allows for every other goal to be accomplished. I look forward to watching your journey and will shamelessly steal any idea that you find to apply to my own sleep struggles. In other words, Following!

Training Jump Rope 6 singles Half Pullups 4 Getups 3x10 KB Swings Shin Box with hip extensions Pigeon pose Upward dog That felt really good, better than it has been for a long while. Felt strong in the Getups but the last one got a little bit wobbly so stopped. Swings were good, really focused on form. I could have done several more sets but don't want to push it early and want to build back up slowly. Diet I bought some organic artisanal sauerkraut. I don't taste any difference from regular kraut but I like it. Not sure what to do with it other than on a hotdog. Just grabbing a spoonful here and there.

So I am just done. Returning to the office has been more stressful and good mood killing than it has any right to be. Combine this with Delta anxiety and a nagging back injury that doesn't seem to fully want to go away and I am done. I just don't have the time or the energy to go all out with anything. Instead of doing nothing I have decided to just practice everything. Just a little bit, small doses, mostly daily and just let accumulated skills build. Zaryadka Reading some of Pavel's work, I ran across a fun concept Zaryadka. It translates into English as Charge or Recharge but basically it is a short duration exercise routine done first thing in the morning, not to exhaustion but intended to invigorate for the day. I intend to follow the spirit of this and last challenge was more or less already doing so with Dan John's 40 Day workout. This challenge I will practice morning zaryadka with pullups, Getups, Swings, loaded carries, etc. Just practice. Diet Practice I tend to eat the same things over and over. Not much variety and most not the best choices. Keeping my practice mentally intact I am not going to stress about it but instead just try new food items. Practice adding them to my regular routine. See what sticks. That's it. Just two challenge goals. It's all I have the mental bandwidth to do right now. That being said I think that it's going to be fun to try different things without a schedule or end goal or stress. Happy challenges everyone.
