  1. Because when I was younger, I thought I would never do a triathlon... But I just did (my first) one, last Sunday! Woot! (not bad for "hating" running prior to April...)
  2. I am looking for a change of scenery, and I have always loved VT... but to move, I need employment. Do any of you know someone looking to employ someone at no less than $11/hr? If you think you may be able to help, please send me a message!
  3. Thanks for the Tri Advice 8^D

  4. LOL Well said. I agree with you 100%

  5. OMG I just learned a shit ton about free radicals and painful post race days (considering I knew nothing about this before I read this chapter)! This O.S.N. book rocks!

  6. I'm sticking to Spartan Races (ending with the Beast this September in VT) this year, but the same type of cross and endurance training seems to be beneficial. Plus, I am looking ahead to next year. I'd love to hear any advice on books to read, bikes, hydration devices that may have the female physique in mind... etc.
  7. A guy to the girl he was there with... "No, not so much weight. Put it on 20lbs and lift it 15 times" (I wanted to hand the poor lady the New Rules of Lifting for Women book!)
  8. Hrmmm... as for if I am still looking to teach yoga. Not this year. I've really fallen in love with running through the woods and the whole Spartan Race community... but I am sure it will even out to a simmer and then I'll have more time in my schedule to consider that. How have you done with the Thrive recipes?

  9. You're not selfish for not wanting kids, people who HAVE them and do not want them are selfish. They make the world make up for where they lack. Enjoy your freedom! (I enjoy mine!) If you have people wanting to make you feel guilty, maybe it is because they want to see you have the same difficulties they had. My dad used to say, "Wait until you have kids." I was the mom of the house growing up, I already feel like I had kids and know from that experience that I don't want that responsability. Good for you for standing your ground!
  10. I dip bananas in them, and mix them in to waffle mix, and smoothies.. mmmm mmm goooood...
  11. LOL is your pic from "awkward family photos?"

  12. lol I guess not since it started today. I have a hard time keeping up with all of these websites. I have been neck deep in conversations on the fb "Spartan Chicked" page, checking in on the friend I am training with for the Spartan Beast, and getting my full time load of hw done on time X^P Are you doing this challange?

  13. How are you? Thanks for your message! I've been busy with school and work and training for the Spartan races (I've done one, fell in love with them and are working on training for more). What have you been up to?

  14. awwww crap. Thanks for the update (I hadn't even read Born to Run until last month). I gotta check in more often.
  15. ...are amazing! I just learned about them in the book Born to Run. Have you heard about their benefits?
  16. How are you? Thanks for posting about Optimum Sports Nutrition!! It's taught me a lot and I am not even all the way through the book yet 8^) I hope you have been doing well 8^D

  17. WOW. I am always amazed at people that can get the human body to do stuff like that ....or dance.
  18. You guys have been great! I have been reading, I just don't have anything to say a lot of the time (i.e. I don't have children, so I don't have picky eaters to feed :^)!!) As for the challange, I give myself a B+. Oh well, better luck next time.
  19. EFT: Does it ever burden you to ROCK so much?!? 161803398874989: I know of another student who wrote a paper on "The History of the Number Zero" and achieved his math credits... it's more about being able to crank out an outstanding 20 page academic paper in 3 weeks, grow as a person, connect to the community, better the world, include projects and internships, and prove what I've learned. I'm concerned about the 20 pages worth of useful content... thanks for the vote for statistics 8^D
  20. I attend a college where I am allowed to create my own curriculum. Today I approached an advisor with the idea of getting my math credits through a Nutrition and then Fitness study. I had one advisor tell me it was a great idea. However, the Math-Guru advisor said I could, “probably find some statistics, but not find enough math information to add up to a math credit.†It broke my heart, and I want to prove him wrong. What about IF? What about BMI? What about reps vs. weight = different types of gains? What about fat% vs carbs% vs protein %? What about success%? What about injury %? Does anyone else have any ideas to throw this way? Are there any books you could recommend as references? So you know, one of the important parts of being here is having access to our community for brain storming, so this questioning of others is encouraged. ;^)
