greetings, Goal - get real estate license, retire from teaching 25 years. Health - mental - prayer and meditation, physical - daily m8vement /exercise, healthy eating habits. cutting out wheat, flour step one.
  2. I have been extreme stress eating, but today is the beginning of the challenge. An advantage I have is anything is progress. I want to develop positive healthy routines. This morning I completed a beginner yoga routine and read "Jesus Calling". Today I am going to work in my classroom to get ready for the kids tomorrow. Many of them will have lost their homes to the tornado. It is difficult, my brothers family lost their home and we spent the weekend packing. People are truly amazing in this situation:; generous and loving. Another goal is to schedule my time better. I can waste more time and then beat myself up later. meal prep and planning. breakfast - muffin tin eggs, lunch - steam veggies, chicken thigh, dinner - salad , snacks - raisins, bananas, apple, cheese stick
  3. Thiss been a sad week after all the tornado damage. All are well just property damage. My brothers house was knocked down. Yesterday I tried a new thing for breakfast for when school starts back and I need a quick breakfast. Muffin Tin quiches without crust and they are pretty tasty. This week has been stress eating. I will be ready for the January 4 challenge. I am prepping and planning successful strategy.
  4. It is becoming more evident how important getting healthier has become. shingles are back again. They are no fun. This will be my third round with them post cancer. Healthy eating will help build up my immune system. Exercise will help with stress as well. Since August I have had two upper res inf. Health is a treasure. I hope this ok here. The worst part is I cant be around my grandkids because I might give them Chicken pox. whiny out.
  5. I am 56 years old. I am hoping this old dog can learn new tricks. I am interested in learning more about using freeweights to gain strength. I also want to improve my flexibility. I had breast cancer 4 years ago and during that year I was barely able to make it to work. Work, drive-thru food and home in the recliner was my routine for a few years. My life spun out of control. The year after, I was fatigued extremely which resulted in major depression. I hit bottom 2 years ago. I go slow because I haven't exercised in such a long time. That is why baby steps are so important for me. There is no pass/fail for me. It is anything is progress. I still experience fatigue so I hope using weights will help with that. I know a better diet will help. I am approaching things differently. I am transitioning to a healthier lifestyle and not the all or nothing I normally try. My Why: Better quality of life. I want to be able to keepnup with my grands. Also prevent diabetes onset. Strategy: baby steps to better health as suggested. Action: food: eat 2 boiled eggs each day for breakfast, banana, and raisins. Banana helps with BP and raisins for iron and benefits physical: go to gym and learn to use hand weghts. stretch spiritual: continue with the daily advent readings. Then my daily reading from "Jesus Calling" I hope to meet support buddies to help me in this journey.
  6. I ate 2 eggs, raisins, and banana this week in place of fast food.
  7. Hi Emily, I have to stay away from scales or limit it to once a month. My perfectionism takes over and the craziness begins. It helps when my goal is being healthy instead of losing weight. I am also new and learning new ways.
  8. I just started with that app and it is really easy to use.
  9. Soup is a good id2a. I will give that a try. thanks
  10. Hello all, I'm a 56 year old school teacher who is terribly out of shape and expanding rapidly. I fear if I don't stop this cycle soon I may not have any elasticity available and will explode and endanger those who may be innocents standing near me. I am in the preparation stages now. On January 4th it will be all hands at battle stations and ready for the rebellion. Small step 1 - 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, banana, and raisins. Small Step 2 - Wake up 15 minutes earlier and do stretches. This my plan for this week. It is the holidays and chocolate is everywhere. Willy Wonka is tempting my sweet tooth. If I were to do anything drastic I would be setting myself up for failure. I work best on an autopilot sort of diet. I'm not a chef extraordinaire so I am looking for easy meals to prepare for the week. I'm not a huge veggie fan so that is a skill I will need to pick up along the way.
