  1. So far so good! I am currently up to Day 3 (in Australia ) and I have kept to my plan so far. - Walking has been the easiest to add into the routine as I catch a train for my commute to work every day, so I get off 1 station early and walk the 15 minutes to work, along with doing the same thing of an afternoon I have added 30 minutes of walking a day! - It hasn't been easy with the water consumption, I feel like all I am doing is drinking water and going to the bathroom all day but outside of that it has good! - Not much to report on the workouts / yoga. I still haven't quite reached the ability to complete a full body weight work out with all the reps but I am better than I was last week and that is a success! Hopefully I can keep it going!
  2. Happy new year to you too! So far so good, I did indulge with some quiet drinks and mates on New Years Eve but outside of that I was pretty good For those who may be interested, my first challenge thread (and a bit of a story too) can be found HERE
  3. Thanks on all fronts I think that currently building the good habits is a much more pressing issue rather than the actual weight loss and I feel that will come in time with the building of these foundations! Small steps!
  4. Thanks I will be trying to do a bit of an adventure story as we go!
  5. MJ's sticks his head out from behind the hulking shape of a tree and can see that there is no one for miles around, one large hoof at a time he moves away from the tree and away from every comfort he had in his life. As far as he was aware, he was the first Centaur to leave The Forest to set out on his own. This was the start of a new day and his new life, he was nervous but overwhelmingly excited for what laid ahead of him. He headed for the small road just ahead and he thinks back to what lead him to this. In The Forest, MJ had the pleasure of eating what he wanted, drinking what he wanted and damn well doing whatever it was that made him happy. But he began to realise, he was not happy. He enjoyed the activities and meals but he noticed he could no longer keep up with his friends and the rest of the Herd. Where he was once the proud leader during The Game, he had fallen behind and could no longer keep up and the Herd had noticed. At first it did not worry him, but as it dwelled on his mind he knew something had to change. *GOAL ALERT* - Lose 5kgs (11lbs) by the end of the challenge "I will head North." He thought. "There is a town 20 leagues North of the forest, as that is where the traders who come to The Forest looking for the Herds armour and bows are from." Head down looking at the road beneath his hooves he set out, walking, because he could no longer trot for any large length of time. *GOAL ONE* - Walk for at least 10 minutes daily 3 STA - 24+ Days 2 STA - 15 - 23 Days 1 STA - 10 - 14 Days After a few hours of walking down the road he started to get thirsty and went to his pack to pull out some Sweet Forest Apple Cider. But he remembered this was part of the problem. He had grown accustomed to drinking the sugary nectar of the forest that rather than being a treat, it had become a daily drink. He also had the foresight to not include any on his journey. He knelt down to the river that was running adjacent to the road sipped until he had had his share and filled his flask full of the fresh running water. *GOAL TWO* - Drink more water daily 3 CON - 3L per day - 24+ Days 2 CON - 2L per day - 15 - 23 Days 1 CON - 1L per day - 10 - 14 Days As dusk approached, MJ set up camp on the side of the road next to the river. Sitting by the fire he had created he felt worn out from the days travel but knew he should be doing something more to help him prepare for the coming adventure. He reflected on some teachings from when he was younger. His mentor Chiron had taught him a number of exercises that could be done with just his body alone to help his strength and flexibility. The longer he sat there, the more he remembered and once he was confident that he had recalled as much information as possibe, he pulled out his journal and wrote it all down. *GOAL THREE* - Body Weight Exercises and Yoga N.B - to achieve the 3 STR and 2 DEX the following must be completed with the adequate rest days in between - 12 days body weight exercises, 16 days of yoga. Failure to do so drops down to 2 STR and 1 DEX. 3 STR, 2 DEX - 3 days of body weight exercises, 4 days of yoga a week 2 STR, 1 DEX - 2 days of body weight exercises, 3 days of yoga a week 1 STR - 1 day of body weight exercises, 2 days of yoga a week Looking back on his first day of this new adventure and life, he knows he has mapped out the immediate future, but whether he sticks to it or not, that is the real test TL;DR - MJ - Centaur - Level 0 - | STR 0 | DEX 0 | STA 0 | CON 0 | WIS 0 | CHR 0 |
  6. So I almost ran into an issue of my own creating yesterday, but using my '20 seconds of beserker' I avoided it. This might sound silly to some but it is alot harder when this is something I have been doing for years. My normal routine is getting home from work and jumping straight into relax mode and playing video games (Currently playing Dust: AET). Normally at this point I am done. Any form of exercise or thought of at this point is gone. But halfway through my session I realised I had not done my yoga for the day. That's fine, I will do it 'later'. Normally later never comes, so this time around I engaged Beserker Mode hit pause on my game, loaded up Water A from NF Yoga and completed that. By the end of it I felt great and that is another small win for me
  7. Thanks guys @JMitch - Would it better to change from 3 days of training to 2 until I feel more comfortable with the routine? Moving training days to Monday / Thursday or something similar. This would also give my body longer to recover as well. So far so good however, yesterday I started my body weight exercises! I chose to start here rather than jumping straight into weights to help my body adjust to moving and exercising again. Normally the reps of each is double what I have below (except the dumbell rows, plank and jumping jacks), but by the end I was unable to do any more. I think I had pushed myself to my limit, but it felt good. I got through 2 circuits of the below, but slightly altered:10 body weight squats5 push ups - Knee push ups10 walking lunges10 dumbbell rows15 second plank30 Jumping Jacks At the moment I found the lunges the hardest to complete. I am not sure if it was my form, but I struggled greatly, but pulled through in the end! After that I did 15 minutes of meditation after my cool down which was a first for me! It felt great so I will be sure to continue that as well! Yoga today woo!
  8. Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.

Suffering leads to understanding, understanding leads to love. Fear is a stop on the path, but it's up to you where you stop. I think Yoda simply forgot that part. To be fair, he does sound like he has a frog in his throat.

That is an awesome way to finish it off Tap'n'Hook! I will definitely have to remember that one!

  9. Thanks I also just joined the FB page so looking to chat to some like minded people as well!
  10. To borrow from my intro post: << So, here I am. The dope in the hat! Where is 'here' and who am 'I' are the 2 questions I assume you are asking right now? The latter of the two is easier to answer, so I will begin there. I am Mitch, 23 years of age, 131kgs (288lbs to those folk using the Imperial system), 188cms (6 foot 2 inches roughly), married to my amazing wife and definitely not happy with where I am, not to be mistaken for where 'we' are . This leads me to the first question, where is 'here'? 'Here' is somewhere I do not want to be, so I am taking my first steps away from 'here' and I am moving towards 'there'. 'There' is a healthy me. A stronger me. A me that I am happy with and one that I am not ashamed to be. It is also somewhere I will need help in getting to and I have heard nothing but amazing things about my potential party and people that I will meet along the way (which is you by the way!). To get 'There' things need to change and to start with these are the changes I am looking to make immediately. Beginner Objectives: (What to do immediately starting tomorrow - it is 11:36pm as I write this) - Beginner's Bodyweight Workout 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) - NF Yoga every other day, including weekends - Find an optimal time to meditate and do so every day - Cut out soft drinks (soda) and replace with either green tea or water Goals: (Intermediate milestones) - Weight to below 115kgs - Eat only 'healthy' foods 99% of the time (This would be 100% of the time, but even Commander Kamb says that is impossible) - Train 3-4 times a week at whatever level I have reached at the time - Replace all forms of liquid with water (no tea etc) End Game: (These are long term goals. As in real long term) - Weight to below 100kgs (Believe it or not, I was closer to 90kgs less than 5 years ago) - Look and feel like a million bucks! - Enjoy working out, make it something I look forward to doing, rather than dreading. Here I go!

What I do when i'm not trawling through NF and other related content: - DM in my second DnD campaign (maybe you got that vibe already?), although I am a seasoned player. - Play way too many video games on all platforms (Xbox One, PS4 and PC) - Read all the comics and books, with my favourite genres being Fantasy and Sci-Fi... duh! - Collect and paint a variety of miniatures - Linux System Administrator by day - Follow the Pirates (MLB), Colts (NFL), Crimson Tide (CFB) and Lakers (NBA) I believe that sums me up! I can't wait to jump 'Feet first into hell' (Halo reference) and get into it! ~MJ
  12. Starting my first adventure in the coming days and as such this will be my first challenge! Looking forward to it!
