  1. Unfortunately I'm not enough of a movie buff...I recognize a handful of them, but I'm not sure I could come up with the whole list...my Google-fu isn't quite up to blackbelt levels, especially with modified quotes...
  2. Oh, I'm not really lamenting the fact that I can't fit into skinny jeans. Based on my body shape (pear shaped, and extremely so: barely-A boobs and fairly large hips), I would look RIDICULOUS if I ever wore them.
  3. * Or just about female things in general, not necessarily strictly related to anatomy, but about being female.
  4. Lol. I love it when guys learn all kinds of things they never thought about the female anatomy before.
  5. Dang! That's intense! I definitely see how it would work out your heart, though. In some ways I guess it's like a mini 1-rep circuit.
  6. For some reason I'm having a hard time picturing how one would do a burpee with weights...how does that work, exactly?
  7. These are something I've always been wanting to try. There was a super-giant epic thread about them on a different forum that I used to frequent. Apparently with ones like the Diva cup, moon cup, etc, sometimes you have to cut the stem a little shorter, because for some women, if the stem is too long, it shoves the cup right up into their cervix and consequently hurts like a mofo. Other suggestions included, empty it in the shower until you get really good at it, so that if blood goes everywhere, then at least it's easy to clean up. And don't even think about emptying it in a public restroom until you get really good at it. There were more tips, I just can't remember them right now. Different methods of getting it in there, and how to make sure you had a really tight seal. As I said before, I've always wanted to try one, I just have a ton of tampons that I bought in bulk and I would feel guilty about not using them up.
  8. I've always been not-quite-an-A. When I put on 15 pounds after we got married, my husband said that they looked a little bigger, but I still only fit into an A bra (I just actually filled it out a little instead of it gapping weird.) Now that I'm working on being healthy, I'm a little worried that if I lose too much body fat, they'll get smaller again. At least it feels like most of the fat is coming off my hips right now.
  9. Gapping in the back is definitely caused when you're not buying a "curvy" enough cut of jeans. I tend to buy the "Arizona" jeans from JCPenny. They're not too expensive, they actually fit me pretty well, I know for a fact they come in "Long" lengths as well, and you can get them really nice and dark washed. On a separate rant, I've really been wanting to try skinny jeans, but for some reason my calves never seem to fit. I find that so odd. I mean, it's not like my calves look or feel massive compared to the rest of my legs, but in every pair of skinny jeans I've tried on, my calves haven't fit into the legs... Isn't it supposed to be your hips or thighs or something that don't fit?
  10. Thanks everybody! I'm really excited.
  11. This competition looks awesome, but I'm still such a weakling. I'd probably have zero chance...
  12. Hooray! That's got to feel so good.
  13. Wow, that's super cool. I really wish I had some kind of chinup/pullup bar. I'm currently making due with the edge of my entertainment center, but it's not really tall enough... Totally jealous.
  14. One is fitness related, one isn't, but both of them combined made my day yesterday. First, I managed 5 assisted pullups. I call them assisted because I'm not doing them on a pullup bar, I'm doing them on the edge of my entertainment center, and my feet never quite leave the floor, so I don't think I'm pulling up all my own weight. BUT a couple months ago I could barely manage 1, so I gave up and started doing dumbell rows and stuff to make my back stronger. So now I'm stronger! W00t! Second one is, I finally got a job! Okay, so it's only a paid internship for 12 weeks, but it's a start! And I'll be getting money again! Also w00t! Anyways, just thought I'd share my happiness with everyone...
  15. I'll definitely give it a try. I'd be pretty awesome if I could beat my little brother at pushups...
  16. I challenged my little brother that we'd both be able to do 50 real pushups by May.... ugh, we'll see how this goes. I can get to about 2 sets of 10 right now, but by the last one, my body is shaking so badly. I think I need to work on my core muscles.
  17. Hi! I'm Laurenji. I've been reading Nerd Fitness for a couple months now and I'm starting to get more serious about getting in shape. Right now I'm one of those weak skinny girls that can't lift anything, and I'd really like to change that. I've been working out for a month or so, but I've realized that without people to be acountable to, I'm probably not going to push myself very hard. I recently accepted a challenge from my little brother that we're both going to be able to do 50 pushups by the time his school year is over (so, end of May). I think it's a good start, but I need more goals and more people to help me be accountable. I don't have a lot of money or a lot of fitness equipment, so for the time being, I'm seeing how far I can get with just bodyweight exercises and 8lb dumbells. Anyways, I'm really excited to be here and hopefully with a little accountability from everyone here I can get better at pushing myself. Cheers!
