  1. Did 10 minutes of centered breathing meditation.  Tried a yoga thing someone recommended on youtube, but holy crap, batman! I got all these cramps in my hips & butticular area.  I can't bend into the pigeon thing, either.  I'll try again tomorrow, maybe before I run 4.6 miles.......and see if I can find a yoga for old farts.  (I'm almost certain I am the oldest person here.....maybe :P )

    MOUNTAIN LIONNSSS!!?!?!!  *eek*

Yay you though!!  Sounds like an A+ morning!! :D  I've never done any of the Darebees, but I know a lot of others have!

Carbs are tough, some are obviously better (sweet potato, brown rice, quinoa) than others (cinnamon buns, white breads, french fries) and it really is a battle.  I'm personally a big advocate of Cheerios and Rice Krispies once in a while!

Have you ever taken body measurements vs the scale?  The scale is an ugly liar :P and the best mark of if things are working is really how your clothes are fitting...

Hey, when I said lions, tigers, & bears...oh my!,  i wasn't kidding.  We don't have tigers, but lions & bears fo sho.

At least cheerios are gluten free now! Not a sweet potato fan, or brown rice, quinoa is okay.  Doesn't the brown sugar negate the health properties of the sweet potato? :D  Seriously tho, I am gonna try roasting some one of these days with rosemary or something.

No, I haven't ever really taken measurements.  Maybe I should. It scares me, though.  Then I'll know exactly how big my butt is....

  3. So this morning I took doge for a walk around the lake.  (Hate that I have to drive to walk, but that was reinforced this morning when hubby saw a mountain lion about a mile from the house) I decided to shake it up.  I walked the straights, jogged the curves.  Hey, and nothing was chasing me!  Cardio was sucky (sucked wind like there's no tomorrow), but knee didn't complain too much, and legs were feeling quite strong (thanks for all those squats, tank.  I think that's why...) of all things, my shins hurt a bit.  Yay!  Go me!

Does anyone have any experience with the darbee workouts?  I have one I want to start, but not sure of the recommended times per week.

Ouch, and yikes! Hope your neck is feeling better; but good on ya for keeping up with the kid. One of the many reasons I have pets and not children - I can go to jail for locking the kids in a kennel. :P Coconut cashews sound AMAZING, btw!

Hormones are such a bitch. Men will never know the struggle. But it sounds like you're back on track, too, so we'll keep pushing forward together! :)

Yep! I have my MFP daily total goal set at 1,200 kcal but I seem to be averaging around 1,500 kcal (which I'm fine with, because I'm also working out so I know I need the extra calories). Tracking is also how I've become such a fan of batch cooking and meal prepping: the days I don't do it, my diet goes all over the place! When I prep, breakfast and lunch are almost always on track; and because they're on track, dinner usually ends up being on point as well.

So, I must confess: in spite of my best efforts, I did not make it to the gym after work yesterday. Well, I suppose I can't honestly call it my "best effort" - theoretically, that would have resulted in my actually going to the gym and then slaughtering my workout... But I was all out of motivation by the time I clocked out. My husband did have an amazing dinner ready by the time I got home (Caribbean-jerked chicken breast and seasoned veggies!!!) and we were asleep about 21:00. I almost didn't get up to go to the gym this morning, but I had to admit that all I was gonna do was lie there and think about how I was supposed to be at the gym anyway.

I was two exercises into my workout when my running partner texted and asked if I wanted to go for a run. As Tuesdays are supposed to be one of my running days I decided to suck it up and hit the pavement with her, and I'm really glad I did. Even though Ron Swanson would have some choice words for me...

    tumblr_mfzpuxNZgD1ql86bho1_500.gif

... and I do agree with him... I'm still happy about today. It was awkward, but I got to do my two of my favorite exercises - deadlifts and running - and I can still get points for both Monday and Tuesday workouts. Now, it's time for me to settle in and get ready for another long day at work. Thank the gods for coffee...

Memo to self: Update your Week 2 stats post!

You you have a recipe for that chicken?  It sounds amazing!

Hormones..... The bane of my existence.  It gets worse.  Wait until you're in your 40's and hit pre menopause.  Talk about whack-a-doodle! (Unless you are in your 40's already, then you feel me)

I am a champion half-asser. Maybe I should work on that.....

    Ranger on, friends!

  5. I do tend to go to the carbs for snacks.  I love cheerios and triskets.  And one fav are coconut cashews, and habenero bbq almonds.  Maybe I'll aim for carrots/cheese instead.

The last challenge I completed, I lost 4 pounds, but I was working, and my job doesn't allow for mindless eating.  We are constantly humping.  So that probably played into it.  I also know it's long term that counts, not quick fixes.  I just freaks me out when I gain instead of lose, and I'm mostly doing things right. Patience is a virtue I don't possess.

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys.

Get a summer hobby that will keep you busy, or drop carbs and raise fat and protein, or both.

That's basically Atkins.  High fat/protein, low carb.  Logging that would be scary......calorie content through the roof!

My biggest issue seems to be staying within my calorie goal.  Granted, I treat this as a basic guideline, and not a hard & fast rule. But damn, I'm starving.  I don't go to crazy in reality, but still seem to keep going over.  And it's been 2 weeks and I've not lost any weight (which is my goal, along with being able to outrun/walk to zombie horde when the apocalypse comes).  So I'm toying with thoughts of Atkins (not forever, just for a while) aince when I did that before I was never hungry. IDK.  I wish my fairy godmother would just come and *poof* the damn fat away.....

I know part of the problem is boredom, and being home (vs being at work, where I never have time to be hungry) all summer.  Any suggestions guys?  Besides will power, which has eluded me my whole life......

Did 30 minutes of meditation for the Ranger mini! I didn't expect it to go nearly that long, so I'm (pleasantly) surprised. I did some Scripture reading, and meditated on/prayed about a few of the verses that stuck out to me and how they can apply to my life. It got really existential and just a little sad, because the verses I chose happened to apply to some of the thoughts I've been struggling with lately. But I got one issue addressed and sort-of-partially-answered, cuz God is faithful 'n stuff. <3

    Yes, yes He is.

And that's saying a lot since my music teacher back in the stone ages would let us square dance on roller skates......

    Right? :D I am WUNDER BAR!!! :P

Thingsiz hectic, with the pace at work kicking my ass last Friday. I took a lot of down time over the weekend; the most adulting I did was on Sunday, when I interspersed gaming with cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry. I also let my diet go wild - but I did keep track with MFP, so that's an improvement. Definitely back on track today, though. I even ran home over lunch to get my gym bag, because I knew that if I waited until after work I'd just go home and stay there.

I feel ya.  Tweaked my neck last week, and took some time off as well.  Couldn't completly stop adulting due to pre-teen son. (Can you say anarchy?  He requires mucho adulting) Diet also wild, but only a little. Forgot to track one day, went over the next quite a bit.  But it was due to yummy coconut cashews.  So, almost healthy.  I'm back at it today also.  Even tho I don wanna.....

You are a freeeakin' squat machine!

How is neck today?  Nothing worse than a neckache that takes 500 years to go away......... heat, aspirin, Tiger Balm, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!

Never thought I'd do so many squats.....ever.  I'm feelin it fo sho.

Neck is ever so much better.  Put heat on it throughout the day, took Advil, and rested it and voila! Much better.

So no excuses today.  Even tho I'm so very tired. Been having weird dreams lately.
