Non fasting day.  Went a bit berserk with foods.  Was seduced by tag a longs and pizza.  Haven’t eaten that much in a while, and felt quite wretched Saturday.

    Fasting day.

Non fasting.  Honey & I took boy-o to the guitar shop to play around, then to 5 guys for burgers. 🤤

    Non fasting day.

I’ve been a bit of a slug.  Been so tired to do anything.  Plus my shoulder is so achy, I think yoga may have to wait for a while. ☹️  Not sure if the rowing was making it hurt or not.  Weather is sposed to be nice, so maybe we can walk.

I have been sticking to the alternate day fasting.  Some days are easier than others, but I’ve 5.6 pounds in 2 weeks.  Once I get to my goal weight, I’ll try 16/8 fasting to see if it’s enough to maintain.

    Tshüss, y’all.

    Fasting day

    2-4:

    Non fasting day.

40 minutes shoveling snow.  Damn right I’m counting it as a workout! 😝

    2-5:

    Fasting day.

No yoga, although it might have done me good.

I witnessed a Traumatic Event on my way home from my bible study group.  A guy hit a deer with his truck, and the poor thing didn’t die.  I didn’t see the impact, but I saw it struggling to get up and run away.  This happens, I know.  But I’ve only ever seen it after it’s all said and done.  I was pretty much a basket case off and on for the rest of the day. Im horribly tender hearted and empathetic.  My honey assured me that the authorities wouldn’t have let it suffer.  Still makes me want to weep.  (And weep is what I did, all the way home, and then some)

    Congrats on the weight loss.
    When I'm achy Tumeric helps.

Does your tiredness get less once you adjust to the fasting?

Thanks!  It helps to see it working.

I think Im liking the turmeric........
It’s supposed to....or so they say, whoever “they” are. 😝.  Yesterday was esp. bad due to PMS, which I never really had in the past.  I’ve been seeing it the last 4-5 months, right about the onset on my period.  Weird mindset, grumpy, ravenous.  And I don’t recognize it until.....then it’s “oh, that’s why “.  Thank you peri menopause, you beyotch, you.

  4. Day 6:

    Fasting day.

Another rest day.  Tweaking the goals, so below.

    Day 7:

    Non fasting day.

    30 minutes rowing

    On to week 2.....

    2-1:

    Fasting day.

    2-2:

    Non fasting day.

    30 minutes rowing

24 minutes NF yoga, water A

Changing up the goals.  It is hard to get up the energy to row on fasting days.  I may continue the yoga on fasting days, though. Not sure.  While the not eating on fasting day is *mostly* easy (food commercials are hard, and brief moments of “I want to eat something, anything, everything), I’m also super tired.  More tired than usual.
    So new goals:

Rowing or some workout on non fasting days. Yoga as well.

Yoga on fasting days if the energy is there.

Also switching to NF yoga.  I like Adrienne, bit am starting to feel she’s too advanced for me.  I really want to do her 30 day challenge at some point, maybe after I do NF yoga for a bit.

So honey & I are doing this together, but he had to adjust his fasting.  The first 2 went really well, but after the 2nd fast, after he ate breakfast his system went haywire.  Blood pressure shot up.  Heart rate shot up.  Tight chest, difficulty breathing.  It was bizarre and frightening.  So he has 500 calories on fasting day, split between lunch and dinner.  And no more caffeine right now, as he’s suddenly having issues with it.  He’s borderline pre diabetic, so I wonder if that’s part of it.

Oh, and I lost 3 pounds last week.  8 since Jan 28.  Strange thing.....I started taking turmeric for pain/inflammation, and it seems to suppress my appetite somewhat.  So I think thats what helped with 5 of the 8 pounds.  And *maybe* I’m less achy?

Well, that’s it from the snowy lands.  (So sick of it, let me tell you.). Please, let the groundhog be right this year........

  5. I didn’t realize I was supposed to tell my story. 😬

My name is Rinna.  I have been a member of NF for 3 years now.  I found it through my girl, @Shadri. I have had ups and down, fitness wise and with mental health.  Some who know me remember Tyrath, my depression, which is visualized as a big black dragon.  He is seductive, persuasive and enjoys derailing my successes. I was successfully medication free for almost  3 years, but had to go back on recently.  But I’m relatively emotionally stable.  It has been some time since I was successful in a challenge.  I am hoping to be better this go round.  My honey & I go for walks when the weather permits.  We also just purchased a concept2 rower for the days weather doesn’t permit outdoor activities.  My journey is ongoing.

My necromany skills are calling @Evicious Come home girl.....

    Day 3(?):

3/45 minute workout. No rowing, had to snowblow instead.  It’s not just following along, behind a machine.  You have to wrassle the damn thing, up and down the hill that is my driveway.

Will do yoga with Adrienne later.  Promise. 😉

    Fasting starts tomorrow.  Yay.

     not quite what I mean.

what I mean is that If they was a Rowing course Specific to building rowing Endurance

... I can only do 3-4 mins of rowing before I am very tired and fatigued...

anyways. perhaps this dark horse guy is like that!   when I can get on youtube I'll check him out.

but this more curiousity than anything I intend to currently do.

I Row 2minutes 30sec two times a week right before my runs.

and that is IMHO enough rowing for me.  I don't intend to do any additional rowing until my running program changes (4 to 8 weeks from now) and I've not decided how rowing fits in my exercise program, generally.

    -----

I'm thinking that slowly over time you are able to Row further and further?  or do you notice that you are able to row with more intensity without getting out of breath.

    or...

    both?

I’m very new to rowing.  Like 2 workouts in new......so I gues the answer is I don’t know.....

My input is the Dark Horse theory is that first you need to row correctly, so that you are able to not get winded from  wasted energy from doing it incorrectly. Then I think you build up.

Yeah, he has lots of videos, and once I get this down, I’ll go longer/harder.

Rowing is def. intense and can be real cardio-ful if you work on keeping a good place!  I can usually go for a good 10 minutes as a consistent intensity before I need a breather, but I know there are some people here that are REAL GOOD at it!

    Oh hai! I hurt. 😕

    I like the edited change

it seems like in nearly any exercise program at least a little rest and recovery.

I didn't know that there was rowing programs?  thats interesting.

when I CAN get to Youtube; I'll check it out (I can't on this PC).  thankx for posting it.

anyways; I run out of energy on a rower way faster than even running.  Did that happen to you when you first started rowing?

is there like a c25k program for rowing? (curious)

(ofc I really can't squeeze anything else in my ex program right now; so Its more about curiosity than anything)

I don’t run, per se.  I occasionally jog, which is more of a fast walk/shamble, to escape zombies.  I was def tired after.  But it was only 20 minutes (I’ll work up to more) so it didn’t kill me.
    Dark Horse rowing channel

Dunno about c25k, but they have quite a few youtube follow alongs.

One of the Dark Horse Videos was on how often you need to row to  be proficient, and he recommended twice a week. I was surprised that it was that low. He said you could do more if you wanted, but that with twice a week, you could learn the skill well enough to be good and get a good workout. I've always felt like I should do more, so for me, having a two day a week goal seems very do-able

The one I posted earlier is not super hard, but aim def feeling muscles I forgot I had.  Once it stops snowing, and the roads stay clear, we will also be walking as well.  The rower was for cold/inclement weather days.  It’s supposed to work over 85% of the body.....which sounds pretty awesome.

The poop never bothered me.  It's the barf that I have a problem with.

However, I am blissfully happy that I don't have to deal with poop any more.

I am a sympathetic barfer.  But when it was my kids, it just turned off.

Awesome! I'm a big fan of rowing. :D

Like a weekly thing, daily IF, or a longer water fast? I guess my question would be 'what are you looking to get out of it' to determine if/when it's a useful tool or not. :P

We are going to try 1 on/1 off. My honey just turned 50, and I’m about to turn 49.  We are both average......slightly overweight. Being taller, we don’t necessarily look it. In clothes, anyway.😉 He wants to lose 30, I’m aiming for 20-25.  But really, we just want to be fit, and healthy and not overweight.  Less junk, more good stuff.
