  1. Hey, I live in said dark place! (Clinical depression). I actually named it. It is a huge black dragon named Tyrath the destroyer who delights in, well, destroying. Sadly, he beats me down more than I beat him down. It is a daily struggle (hence the eating of feelings. And candy. Lots of candy.) so we should all band together and kick some ass.....
  2. Sounds like my hubby. He always wears sleeves, even when it's hot out. But, we met in Texas, so that's nothing new. I was born in Dallas and raised in Mesquite. Haven't lived there in 27 years. Thank the good Lord.

  5. Are you a Texan, too? Hey, you can take the girl from Texas, but you can't take the Texas from the girl. Don't get me wrong, it will always be home. But as a woman approaching a certain "age", I can't take the heat anymore. Plus, the bugs.....water bugs my a$$. They're just giant cockroaches.
  6. Sounds like Texas, where I grew up. I don't know how we ever managed as kids to run and play and crap in all that heat. Now I just wilt and whine and hide in the nice air-conditioned house type structure..... But yes, I must concur, they can rot in hell, esp.mosquitoes. I know every living thing has a place/purpose. But come on, really......
  7. You can also process it lightly in a food processor to make "cauli-rice". Not a bad sub for rice, and a mild enough flavor not to compete with or ruin a dish.

  9. So, the universe is conspiring against me. I missed the last challenge due to: 1. Illness. Again. I spose that's what I get for working in a school. (Germy Juveniles) 2. Hellmachine's murder attempt and ultimate demise. Damn schwinn elliptical cracked on both sides, where the stupid thing rotates. I coulda died. 3. Vacation. Traveled to the depths of Hell (otherwise known as Texas) to visit my elderly Grandmother. She will be 88 this November, but man she's still awesome. She's what I wanna be when I grow up. 4. Transporting my DD to another state for the summer. Great opportunity for her to be on her own for the first time, doing cool science stuff. But hell, she's my first baby, and I miss her terribly. Been eating a lot of feelings and stuff. So here I am again. Starting over, sorta. Did complete the challenge- before- last, and rewarded myself with a new helix piercing. I'd really like to do my whole ear (just one) with hoops down the whole side, with a couple/three studs at the bottom. But we'll see. I've been told I'm too old (45) and to stop trying to be cool. Well, I'm not trying to be cool. I just think it looks cool. Well, enough rambling, I guess. I am back on the Hellmachine (after it tried to kill me, and after we repaired it) This week will be only elliptical, since I took a long break. Next week I will add something else into the mix. Just don't know what yet. Live long and prosper, my friends.

    Week 4 recap: Well this week kinda went to hell in a handbasket. Not a total fail, but not what I wanted it to be. Due to last weeks 11 mile hile, took a couple days off to heal a pulled calf muscle. Along with that, had several nights of no sleep. So basically I didn't get any extra workouts in. Did get my 10,000 daily steps, and tracked most of my food intake. Stayed close to my goals there, a tick over, but not too bad. So here we are at zero week, and I may just keep n keepin' on, since I was a slug last week. Hmmmm. We'll see, eh?

    4:1 & 4:2 Taking a break. Daughter and I channeled our inner Hobbits and took an 11 mile hike. It was fun. Cold and windy, but fun. So, I figure since I am still somewhat on track mileage wise for the week, I will wait a day or so and let my calf heal. Pulled something, well, pulled my calf muscle. Think it was because my athletic shoes were toast. (they were easily 4 years old) Got some new ones yesterday and chucked those puppies in the trash. Plus the trail was wonky in spots, very uneven and hard to walk on. So I must have over compensated somehow. Anywho, with my daily steps and the 11 miles, I am not to far off track for my weekly mileage. Still logging all foods, trying to stay on track there, or at least close (very close). May be a B+ week, but it's still early days.

    It's called springtime in the Rockies. And it sucks eggs. In fact, as I look out my window, I see flurries. Poop. Once upon a time, a long time ago, we got 2 feet mid-May. Brought down power lines and trees.

    3:5 Went pretty well. Got in my steps, and my 5 miles. Cheated like crazy on calories, but it was Friday and I have been pretty good, really. Need a treat every now and then. Mentally had a good week also, after a rough time. Tyrath is beat down and cowering. For now. Recap: Week 1: A+ Week 2: C+ Week 3: A

    3:4 went well. Logged all foods. Did 3.8 on hell-machine. Went slightly over on calories, but I have my goal pretty low. Got my 10,000 plus my miles. All in all a good day. Struggling sometimes with finishing my workouts. Why run when sitting is so much easier? But hey, that's the mindset that gained me 20 pounds.
  16. My daughter hates group projects, always has. There always seems to be one f-up or "I'm soooo smart" in the group. She'd rather go it alone. Some people are just self centered jerks. Some profs take that into consideration. Hopefully this one will too. Don't let other jerk-faces get you down. You ARE special. She just thinks she is, probably cause mommy said so. Gosh, that sounded mean, didn't it. I'm not sure I care.......
  17. Perhaps you are losing fat but gaining muscle. Then the scale wouldn't change. I'm gonna start some body weight stuff next challenge/first of the month. Got a Thor app (Thor Fitness ) that had good reviews. We'll see what happens. Right now sticking with diet (calories) and cardio. Have lost 4 pounds, so I'm pleased so far.

    Track it manually. But not as elliptical. As running. It'll ask time o (clock time), distance ( miles), duration (how long you ran). If you do it as elliptical, it doesn't accurately count mileage for some reason.

    3:3 Day went well. Went over on calories, but only a little. Logged it all. Got my steps plus 5 miles in. Didn't avoid sugar, but stayed near my goal calorie wise. And, bonus, I finally figured out how to get my fitbit to register my elliptical workout! So now it says 5 miles instead of 2.something. Yay!
