  1. I am a newly minted beginner blue belt. ^ Actual footage from my test
  2. Karate test scheduled for tomorrow. We'll see! (Still haven't gotten my belt from my previous test.)
  3. Some yoga on Sunday to stretch out my legs (cat participated enthusiastically if not helpfully). Blew off kickboxing class yesterday, but ran another 4.5km today. Tomorrow's our regularly scheduled class; I'm at the point where I am once again texting instructor the day of lesson to confirm, and if we don't connect when I do that then I start complaining to someone else.
  4. Hi, gang -- Down but not out. My last weigh-in was 5 lbs down and 5 to go, so I'm happy with that. I ran 7km on Sunday (with a few uphill walks, but still a PR). Have not yet taken karate belt test. My instructor forgot, then had to cancel our rescheduled date, and hasn't yet answered my texts about rescheduling this week. I'm losing patience.
  5. Thank you thank you, friends! The instructors have a policy of not approving us to take the tests until they're confident that we're ready to pass, so I go in feeling pretty good about it these days. I'll do some warm-ups this afternoon before this evening's test. I think it's option B. I still think it was yesterday you were prepping for the LSAT. Thanks bud.
  6. Well, weight is fluctuating (within normal parameters) but I'm feeling good about the eating habits. I did kickboxing class last night which wiped me out, and my bad knees are really feeling it today. I'm going to do some kind of run shortly, even if it's just a short/easy one, to keep my stamina training going. Tomorrow evening is karate belt test (beginner blue belt).
  7. Weekly update soon, but: I'm down another ~3 pounds. I've lost about 7 toward my 10-lb benchmark. I felt amazingly good when I saw that this morning.
  8. ACCOUNTABILITY POST: It's raining, but it's supposed to ease off late this afternoon or early evening, and it's plenty cool, so I'm vowing here to take a run after work. I'll see if I can make it to 6K today.
  9. We haven't named ourselves yet! I'm going to nudge everyone about that, no worries. I'm sort of waiting for the official app to come out (soon, I think). Yep, that's my vibe
  10. That's because it was wearing armor made of hide. THANK YOU ...so anyway I did a fair job last week with my goals, except for writing. My weigh-in this morning says I'm about seven pounds from my weight-loss milestone to get me back into my comfortable weight range. I suspect it'll be another five pounds before I'm really happy with my weight again. I'm doing kickboxing tonight, two karate classes this week to prep for next week's test (I can't believe it's test time again, but then again I still feel like it's April), with runs sprinkled throughout the week (maybe tomorrow, as it's supposed to be pleasant and cool). I did a 5.5K run over the weekend and am gradually increasing my distance each time. I'm trying to continually remind myself that the goal is just to get more distance, and not worry so much about speed. We now have a team of four librarians training. Did anybody else do the NF Prime free trial and app? It's supposed to have cut off Sunday but my app was still working today.
  11. Ran 5 1/4 km today. Easing my distance upward....
  12. It's in the 50s at night here, highs of 70-ish. I am not mad about it! Kickboxing class via Zoom last night -- I am feeling it this morning, but also feeling not too beaten up to try a run later! Then martial arts lessons Weds and Thurs evenings. Also, I'm playing in a space viking LARP over Zoom the next two Wednesday evenings.
  13. Thank youuuu I've just learned that I have to stay on top of him about it (and remind myself regularly that I'm paying for the membership and not imposing on his time). I've got two lessons scheduled for this week now. That Superman one's pretty funny though.
  14. Yep, the heat was just utterly sapping my stamina. I sort of know this already, but only really realize how true it is at the beginning of summer and the beginning of autumn.
  15. I am so proud of you for doing that workout -- and what amazing news about your progress! I feel like you've been dealing with the back problems forever. That's fantastic that you can work out again.
  16. I did not! But I went for a run on Sunday. I'm amazed at how the weather affects my ability to run. I did 5K yesterday and felt pretty good about it. Onward toward 10K! I didn't do karate last week; I've had chronic scheduling problems with my karate instructor for a long time now. I am one of the few (I think) people doing one-on-one video lessons, so I get that I can't be the top priority, but it annoys me. He has promised me two lessons this week as a makeup, and I'm going to bug him about following through. I am trying an app called Habitshare that just notifies your friends on the app when you accomplish one of your goals for the day. If anyone wants to try it out with me, let me know. Kickboxing tonight. Going for a walk break shortly to get moving. I have lost a couple of pounds since starting tracking, but I put on my favorite jeans this morning for the first time in months, and they are too tight to be comfortable.
  17. What is this sorcery of which you speak! If and when the writing is ever in a completed state, I promise to share the news here. Karate got postponed last night, and tonight I have a work commitment so I'm not sure if I can make it up tonight. It will be what it is -- I'm going to try to go for a run tomorrow morning as soon as I wake up, though.
