  1. Here are some links to some alternatives! I've tried Sattva as well and found it was pretty good. Insight Timer has a ton of free meditation and headspace is also commonly used. There are also some good youtube channels I'll link below as well. However, it may be best to stick with just calm for now as it is simple and easy to use https://www.youtube.com/user/TheHonestGuys https://www.youtube.com/user/MichaelSealey http://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/top-meditation-iphone-android-apps https://www.mindful.org/free-mindfulness-apps-worthy-of-your-attention/
  2. Sounds good mate! Make sure to not overtrain and eat plenty of protein too. For mood improvement when you cannot workout have you ever tried meditation? If not check out the app calm! Also cold showers can help significantly with mood as well. I've been suggesting it a lot lately but I'd check out white tea for helping with soreness as it is a healing tea!
  3. To facilitate loving-kindness meditation I highly recommend the app calm especially the annual version! I can also research a list of alternatives for ya too
  4. White is known to help with muscle soreness and is an excellent all-around healing tea! Taking a long hot bath and shower has helped me in the past as well but now I've also found that short cold showers can too.
  5. Work has been hitting me pretty hard lately too since it is back to school time. Glad to hear that you ate healthily and chose to eat in! That salmon sounds amazing! I'm actually finishing some touches on some bacon chicken breasts, mushrooms and rice, and caesar salad
  6. Epic song and video! Kudos for being an LOTR fan
  7. How is the challenge going for everyone so far?
  8. Pleased to meet you allie! I suggest DareBee for some quick workouts and some solid recipes https://darebee.com/programs.html https://darebee.com/mealplans/modern-hero-diet.html
  9. Great goals! I definitely agree with the goal of socializing, although it can be difficult during a normal semester! Also, don't forget the dance party! (here's some encouragement ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmnjL26OBcY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM
  10. I've also dealt with low back pain but luckily never anything severe. The stretching ought to help a ton! Although might I also suggest some white tea? Also, keep us updated on the leadership quest!
  11. Welcome mate! I'm working on NF nutrition as well but can also relate with keeping your desk area clean lol! Good luck on those evaluations, I'll be tagging along on this adventure!
  12. Great to have you back! Man, your goals make me miss lifting lol! However, at the moment I'm trying some calisthenics with endurance/strength training mixed in. How is today going for you?
  13. Sorry to here that you've been sick. However, I'm glad that you're back on track! I like your goals, specifically DnD. Once you have some content written up you gotta share! Also kudos for being a habitica bro! Will be following along!
  14. My condolences on your loss .However, its great to have you back! As someone who is also struggling with depression and on a similar life journey I can relate. Just remember to be kind and patient with yourself! A few things that have helped me cope have been meditation (loving-kindness helps a lot!) and cold showers. However, if you haven't already you may want to talk to a doctor about antidepressants as well. For a healthy diet and fitness program, I'd recommend The Hero's Journey and The Modern Hero Diet from DareBee as it is fun and very easy to follow! Hang in there and #Fortify! https://darebee.com/programs.html https://darebee.com/mealplans/modern-hero-diet.html
  15. This Week I'll be starting The Hero's Journey from DareBee with the intention to not miss a single workout!
  16. A Ranger walks into the old yet relatively new tavern. The floors made a familiar creak as he made his way over to the bartender. "Greetings," he offered the bartender as he removed his hooded cloak. The bartender eyed him suspiciously not recognizing who it was at first. Then his eyes widened with surprise! The Ranger that stood before him had lost his beard and long hair for a shaved and short look. Despite his physical changes there seemed to be something else different about him, perhaps a glimmer of hope that shone in his eyes. Nonetheless, he recognized him as none other than Jedediah The Wolf! He cautiously replied back "do you plan to stay this time?" The Ranger climbed onto a tall bar stool and stared at a selection of fine teas that lay upon the nearby shelf "I can't go at it alone anymore" he hesitated a moment "Yes.....I will stay." Greetings all! Since everyone was making a return, I figured it would only be right if I did as well! After my last challenge had ended an unprecedented amount of major events happened, Which included finding a new apartment, starting summer school, and dealing with a severe spike in depression. To top it all off, I had to shave my awesome beard and hair because of an infestation from my old apartment. However, despite all this, I learned something. It seems whenever it gets tough that I have trouble staying connected and often slip into an absence. I want to change this though because Lone-Wolfing gets me nowhere and we are stronger together as Rangers! So for this month I will do my best to stick around
  17. Jedpool finally checking in! Haven't done so well this challenge . I accomplished my distance feat of 10000 meter row, but couldn't do the speed feat. For recovery week though I've already started and have been focusing on meditation . I'm also trying out a new app called calm!
  18. I figured it's lonnnnnngggggg overdue for an update! Keeping in touch has been absolutely horrible for me this challenge. I recently started a new job which kinda threw my entire schedule off and has made it hard to have time to use my pc as often. However, I'm slowly bouncing back into a normal routine again. Challenge wise besides not checking in, has gone fairly well. 1. English classes is the exception. The new job I started has on site training that has taken up most of my time so i've not been able to really do anything with these. 2. Expense tracking has been going very well though and I'm staying within the budget I created 3. I also made a new workout program and am loving it so far. However because of work I've not been able to make it to the gym lately. So in response to this issue, mid-challenge I created an alternate body-weight workout that works the same muscle groups! 4. My sleeping schedule has been fantastic this challenge! I started to struggle mid-challenge with it and was considering abandoning it, but my job had other plans. The new training I started requires an early wake up time that was consistent with my goals, so it has helped to keep me accountable Ranger feats I completed my distance feet and rowed a total of 10000 meters . However, I was not able to do the speed feat like I had planned. To make up for it, I decided to focus on mediation more for recovery week. I was originally using a meditation app called Sattva. However, I feel it doesn't really fit my needs, so I decided to try the app Calm and see how I like it. In summary I hope everyone Else's challenges are going well! Mine was kind of a let down this challenge.
  19. Great food stats for the evening! I hope you get on the football team Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
  20. Oh darn my bad I meant to post it lol! It's called Sattva https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.meditation.tracker.android&hl=en They have it for itunes as well . It's great because it allows you to keep track of how much you mediate and also offers free guided mediation as well!
  21. Definitely look into some boxing clubs! Some local gyms also offer group boxing/cardio boxing classes which may be wort looking into. There also might be some good online resources as well.
  22. @Salinger Thanks for the follow! Week 1 went pretty well. I'm behind on my English writing classes still. However, my finals are done so I should be able to get right on it! My sleeping schedule has been going well too but I decided to sleep in today and rest up since I'm going to have a very busy day. I've been keeping track of my expenses very well but still have yet to create a budget (darn procrastination and finals!). So i'll get right on it this week along with my English classes. New workout plan is terrific! I've crushed more PRs in the past days than I have in two months . I tried two new gyms for the Ranger challenge and think I may have found a new home gym! (Swimming pool ftw ) It will suck leaving my old gym behind because I have a lot of friends there. However, I feel it is time for a change and is necessary to progress. In other news I got my sweet desktop up and running again! I've been having bad anxiety about not being about to work on my writing/cartography project without it, so this is a big win! Also on the topic of anxiety, meditation is going very well. However, I've yet to try my new mediation app. SO here in a bit I think I'll give it a shot as well!
  23. Replacing sugary stuff is very hard for me too due to having a sweet tooth lol. My challenge series is focused on willpower so I can also relate on that front too. Something that helps me tremendously is replacing sugary desserts with fruit, adding a bit of honey to tea, or if really bad adding low sugar/lowfat creamer to coffee.
