  1. Update! Things are looking good! On the alcohol front, I've now been 20 days alcohol free and feeling great, makes me realise how pointless it really is / how much I drink! Food is going great, I'm cooking for myself and learning lots about the paleo diet, i've stuck to it for just over a week and really enjoying it! Caffeine has been lowered still, just having a cup of tea in the morning then peppermint leaves in hot water throughout the day. Feeling good!
  2. Sure a few of you guys would have read this but just thought that I would recommend, definitely a favourite book of mine! - Ready Player One - "In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines—puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape." There's a cool blog here based on the book - http://readyplayerone.com/ And you can grab a copy on Amazon UK - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ready-Player-One-Ernest-Cline/dp/0099560437 US - http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Player-One-A-Novel/dp/0307887448 Anyone read the book? Would love to know your thoughts, I've read it a few times now and can't put it down! Enjoy! Brett
  3. Update: Met up with friends yesterday after a busy week of work, everyone was drinking Gin and I stood my ground and only had water! Felt great afterwards, very proud and glad I'm now 15 days drink free. Just been for a little run but the freezing weather at the moment in the UK made my asthma play up a bit, I find running in gyms much easier due to no wind / cold weather so will definitely look into this when I move house next month. Off to get a Paleo food shop today and really excited about it! Brett Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Just a little update - No Alcohol is going strong! 13 days alcohol free, and around £55 saved in comparison to how much I would have spent in that period had I been drinking! Mon, Tues and Wed were caffeine free and I had half a cup of green tea today just as a booster after lunch! Definitely an improvement from my usual cup of coffee in the morning and then tea throughout the day! I've eaten cooked meals only so far this week, today I had udon noodles with tofu which was great, already feeling much better! Tomorrow comes a challenge as some friends from university are meeting for drinks, I'm going to go as a test of my willpower! Let's do this!
  5. And so my journey with the Rangers begins! A little late but I've been wanting to do this for around the last 4 years and now is definitely the time! No more making excuses or doing this half heartedly! Time to be a Ranger! ------- Goal 1 - No Alcohol 11 days into 'Dry January' already and feeling great! http://www.dryjanuary.org.uk/ if any rangers fancy joining me! There's a great app too! It doesn't matter if you're a little late, you can keep going past Jan! Goal 2 - Lower Caffeine Consumption Time to lower caffeine consumption with the hope of soon cutting it out once and for all! Sleep is a much better energiser! Goal 3 - Diet No more processed foods, just food that's good for me! I'll be checking out the Paleo diet to help me along the way! ------- I've got bigger goals planned for the near future but these will be introduced once I've leveled myself up! These goals seem reachable within the time that I have left for this months challenge and next month comes the bigger, exercise based goals once my body is ready for it and not full of microwave pizzas and other nasties! RANGERS NEED TO BE ON FORM! Wish me luck! Br3tt
  6. I feel your pain! I joined 'The Gym' in the UK <- Yep, that's their actual name! and ended up getting annoyed with the egos in there, I was asked to move from equipment sometimes which is rude but I can deal with it, however one day some guy asked if I was finished with my exercise mat as he wanted to use it! - even though there were plenty more around the gym! Unfortunately I haven't been back since as I got fed up, but i'm going to start up again next week! My thoughts would be, if you're not enjoying it try a more premium gym as I've noticed these are a little easier for beginners, maybe a leisure centre or likewise, somewhere a little less full on, I visited one this week and found it to be great, another thing I've started doing is just going for it! grab that exercise ball or that weight and do it how you feel is good for you! it's your body! Good luck pal!
  7. Hi! I'm Brett, really excited to get started so thought I'd begin by telling you all a little bit about myself! I'm 23 and work for a graphic design studio in London which I love, I finished university this year just gone so working and living in a city is pretty new to me! Really into my superheroes with my favourite being Spider-Man closely followed by Captain America, both great inspiration! A little about my health - I'm 5,11" and weigh in at 11.9 stone. I used to be 15 stone and lost substantial weight when I was about 17, this was mainly through dieting and natural changes. I do a lot of walking but mainly to and from work! I'm conscious of what I eat but could control it a lot more! I've tried the gym before but gave up due to not enjoying it and not really knowing what I'm doing, I think Nerd Fitness will make this experience a lot better for me as having a community of likeminded people to support me will be great! Why I'm doing this - I want to tone up my body and loose the excess weight that I've been too lazy to loose until now! Explore the city I'm living and working in much more, be more active and eat better! Lots of goals but I'll be sure to take small steps! Another thing for me is confidence, some of the above will fall into this and boost this but I'd love to feel more confident in myself as a whole! Unfortunately a few months back when I moved to London I was unfortunately mugged walking home, this kick started my want for getting fit and more confident (as this knocked it big time!) and now I feel ready to start, time to go all Peter Parker on the world! Look forward to some of you introducing yourself and I'm excited to get started! I'm going to browse the boards for a week or so whilst I begin then join the academy in a week or so and get started big time! (It'd be great to hear your experiences of the academy and to hear some of your stories!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
