I've memorized this quote and use it whenever I'm about to do something terrifying. If that doesn't work, I go with ear buds and Slayer.

Barbells are scary when you're not used to them, but it definitely gets better. I actually find squats with a bar far easier than free standing squats. The extra weight helps me get lower in my squat.
