  1. So true. I am looking forward to the summer and longer days when I can do it after work as well as weekends
  2. Don't knock the getting up on hills, we start somewhere. I am still on the hill part myself and it is still wonderful to stand at the top and feel awesome. Love that feeling and use it to encourage you to climb every hill you see. Soon the hills will get larger and larger
  3. Those noodles are an epic green color. I love it. How did they taste
  4. Sorry for not checking in over the weekend. I am part of the group organizing training for new RCSAR people in this area and we had our first weekend of four of training. It was intense but really good and really inspiring. We were a good mix of people and it is always fun to meet people who have a passion for this. I also did really well helping with making food, which involved freshly baked rolls and I didn't have a single one. Today I was back at work and then went to MMA/Grappling for the first time since before Christmas. Hard but so much fun. And we were 14 people there today. Most of the time we are 6-8. It is intense. And I love that when the guys make things easier for me it is because I am still learning, not because I am a woman.
  5. So, I am on day 5 of keto today. And I am thinking I am hitting ketosis. My breath is starting to smell different. I am also dropping weight like a rock but I am pretty sure it is mostly water weight. I wanted to talk a little about my motivation for wanting to lose weight and get stronger. I am a part of the Norwegian Red Cross SAR Corps and one of the really cool groups we have is the challenging terrain group (ie. Mountains and climbing). I kind of really want to be able to do that but to do that I have to be stronger. And if I weigh less that will be more weight I have to be able to pull around.
  6. @Ellestar Thank you very much. It is part of trying to explore more. Now that I have a car I can also get further to go do walks with Samwise (the dog) Today's checkin is a little short. Yesterday was a hard day, I got hit by a lot of things emotionally. But I stuck through it, didn't break down and order pizza even though I wanted to and instead I made dinner. Today was also a challenge, I went to the store to pick up milk to have in my work coffee and they had fresh munker (a fried dough treat I love) and I managed to walk past.
  7. @Ellestar That is so great to hear. I have a bit of a weird mental thing about yoga. I feel so clumsy and extra fat with my belly in the way. But it is funny because in my training with the the local mma group we do some yoga stretches once a week (not a full on yoga session but some stretches) and people tell me I am flexible. But I don't feel that way normally
  8. Yeah it looks like a very cool area to travel to. How are you finding the yoga challenge. I am thinking about doing some yoga for my next one
  9. @JessFit Thank you. I like to think they are good goals too. Mostly because I came up with them... @RES I am doing the 30 days of change challenge. Though I have to do today's right before bed...
  10. I like those goals. Kilimanjaro is so cool, I'd love to go sometime.
  11. After years on and off the Nerdfitness train this year I have decided will be the year. This isn't exactly my first challenge, or rather my first attempted challenge, but it will be my first completed one. The Main Quest AKA Big Bold Year Long goals Lose weight I will lose 1 kg a month for the year (ie. end each month 1kg lighter than I started it) I will eat Keto/Paleo most of the time Grow Strong/Learn to fight I will continue with MMA/Grappling training I will do something physical each day (Darebee challenges, Zombies 5k etc) I will start taking hikes with a weight in my backpack Adventure I will go on 100 different walks with my dog, ie: 100 walks that are different in some way, some new path or another direction I will learn a new skill Stability I will feel financially stable and not worry each month if we have enough for the next pay check I will work together with my wife when it comes to money stuff rather than feel it is all my burden I will set aside money for my goals each month I will start a IPS account (personal pension saving) The current quest log AKA What I will do this challenge to work on the main quest Start Keto and keep it until the end of the month Complete the Darebee 30 days of change Go to MMA training every session where I don't have a conflicting RC meeting Check in to the YNAB budget every day The side quests Check in here every other day Set up work goals Loot Bonsai wire I am going to need all the accountability I can get on this. In the past I have failed at checking in and then failed at completing the quests.
  12. I am struggling a lot with creating habits and sticking to them and to actually do the things I need to do. I've tried using my wife as an accountability buddy but it doesn't seem to have quite the same effect. I also find that forums don't really do it, in the past what has worked best was team games where other people relied on me get things done. So what I am looking for is some people who can help me make an adventuring team, where we all set weekly or monthly goals and also set a team goal that we all work towards and the reward is dependent on everyone on the team contributing. I would also very much like the team to have some sort of online meeting place. Personally, I am partial to a discord server but a facebook group could work too, the key for me would be that it would be a bit more personal than just a forum thread. An added bonus could be some sort of rp element to it. Maybe the monthly challenge is in the form of a beast we must slay. If you'd be interested let me know and we can figure out what we want to set up.
  13. @Elastigirl Honestly there has been a bit of a break, I was at my parents for the Easter holiday so there was a fair amount of walking in the woods and playing with dogs, but not so much going to the gym. Spring is slowly happening. It did snow yesterday but today it is supposed to stay well into the pluses so I am hoping that the snow that made biking to work today scary will be gone by the time I get home. @SkyGirl Thank you so much. My side project/hustle is sewing those reusable grocery bags and hopefully selling them. I am going to make up a handful and test them this weekend. I am following the Hero's Journey Darebee program https://darebee.com/programs/hero-journey.html. I quite like it so far. Next up is fighting the oracle.
  14. @Butternut Thank you very much. I don't have a car yet and I won't for a while because of finances. But It is great to have the license and be able to borrow my dad's cart at least. Here in norway if you take the test with an automatic you can only legally drive automatic so that is a small downside but yeah.
  15. Nice set up. My brother has promised me to teach me blacksmithing, he'd be jealous of that nice anvil. He is struggling to find a nice one. Or at least has been.
  16. It has taken me ages to get my drivers license, combination of financees and little time. But finally I got it. Or rather I passed the test yesterday. The actual license will arrive in a couple of days. And to top of the awesome the client I am working for wanted to continue with me and has extended the contract out 2018 with the possibility of further extension until June 2019
  17. I really like having crafting as part of the challenge and I look forward to seeing pictures. I am so following.
  18. At a table near the fire, a winking woman looks up from her spinning, she smiles at you and becons you to come sit. "Spring is finally arriving in the frozen north." She says with a smile. "We are almost at the Vårjevndøgn and the sun hangs in the sky longer and longer every day. I plan on going back out on adventures now that the snow is melting." --- Quests: Continue the hero's journey. Continuing to follow the hero's journey program at darebee a minimum of 3 days a week. -Fitness Expand my horizons. Bike to work every day (unless the weater makes it unsafe) and do two longer bike rides to new places - Fitness/Finance Keep a record. Keep a record of what I eat for the challenge, at least half of it in a public place - Diet Something on the side. Make and test prototype for side hustle project -Finance/LifeLevelUp Side Quests: Stick to the damn plan. Follow the first weeks of the academy quests Make something. Hit the next coding milestone on my personal code project
  19. I have been bad lately. There is a specific reason for this and that is that I have managed to get a bad cut in my knee and I have 6 stitches right in the part that moves a lot which makes moving hard to do. Running will not happen for a while I think.
  20. @Vizzini There are other apps as well. Six to Start (the company behind ZR) have two, one is a walking app and story that supposedly is really good, I have not tried it, and the other is a Super hero body weight workout. Personally I was never that into zombies before ZR. But it has a really engaging and fun story that is more about the humans of Abel than the zombies.
  21. Ok, doing a quick post here before I head off to work. This weekend was gorgeous here and it's been lovely going out running with Zombies Run. At work I started a new project with a new team and everything yesterday and it will take me some time to get into that. The whole30 is going alright.I had been forgetting to take my starting weight so I finally did that. 104kg and 44.8% body fat. I am not happy with that at all, the goal is to get down to about 30% bodyfat.
  22. @Vizzini The code will most likely be in javascript/react. It is what I'll be using at work and also something I've been wanting to try out. I do have a project in mind for it which is basically a webscraper. The driving lessons will be for cars. I am now signed up for a firstaid course for it on the 12th and they'll get back to me on monday with when we can do the first lesson. The whole30 got off to a slight rocky start. My work had a fancy dinner and I had a beer with dinner and a piece of brownies. But I also had the most magnificent lamb shank.
  23. September Goals: I have set myself a list of goals for September and they are as follows Complete a Whole30 Sign up for driving lessons and take one lesson if they can fit me in Clean up apartment and set up an craft area Do some code for personal project one hour every weekend Dog training 5/7 days a week Some form of workout/yoga every day Duolingo Italian every day I think this is a good list, all in all it is 100xp and it is a good mix of things that should be easy to accomplish and things that should be harder. Why I think is this is a managable list: There is something on the list that is a matter of doing once. I already do do some of these things often, it is just a matter of upping it and starting a routine. For working out I have set up a training program on Zombies Run that I will follow and this will get me in shape for the virtual race. For the big things I won't be doing them alone, the whole30 and dog training my wife will be doing as well and the driving lessons is something she wants me to do as well.
