    Round 2 START!

The challenge is going great. Been out of town since the 5th but have maintained the habits as best I can. Living out of a hotel, while house hunting doesn't make it easy.

    Round 2 START!

So here we are the 4th of April and the start of my second Challenge. Goal one: Continue to drop weight to get below the magic 202 number the Coast Guard wants me at, that's only 3 more pounds. Goal two: Continue to cut out the extra sugars my body doesn't want. (Had a donut today and my body went bonkers with the extra sugar) Goal Three: Continue to meditate once a week, been doing this since i started last months challenge and it has helped me with the stress of the impending transfer and Home buying.
  3. All Right! My first challenge is done may not have been the full 4 weeks but I plan on starting day one with the next one. Main Quest - Get down to 205 LBS by End of challenge. (C+) While i didn't make my goal weight i did lose body fat which will make my weigh-ins a lot easier the first Week of April - Focus on my mental/spiritual self. (A+) I kept up with the Bible reading and Completed 3 weeks with once a week meditating. For me this is a huge thing. Thanks @Chris-Tien Jinn for the support and recommendation of headspace. Diet - Continue cutting back on sugar. (B-) I did cut back on the sugar but a few times i ate sugary snacks more then i should have - Continue cutting back on Soda. (A-) I only drank soda with meals out, and the occasional Rum and Soda. Fitness - Continue to do the Bodyweight brigade Level 1 work out 3 times a week. (A) I was able to do the level 1 exercises and they have gotten easier, will continue level 1 through the next challenge unless it starts getting to easy. - Start riding my bike again. (F) To hell with Maine's "SPRING" been to cold and rainy to even get on it once. - Continue my daily walks with the family. (C) We did them a lot but not every day like i would have liked see above for reason why. Spiritual/Mental - Read the Bible 3 times a week. (A-) Missed 2 days for the whole challenge - Start meditating. (A+) Once again thanks @Chris-Tien Jinn for the support and recommendations All in all I feel great, and can't wait to continue the progress. Thanks Rebels for all the support Myrik
  4. So I slacked on my week one update on Saturday, it was a bust day. Main goal, still sitting at 209.8 haven't done body fat calculations but I feel better My diet waned a little and we out more then we should have and I had more soda than normal, but I will get back on the horse and keep on trucking. Been working a lot the last few days so my "walks" have been doing laps around the Command Center for 10-20 minutes at a time, with a 15 pound backpack on. Been keeping up with the Bodyweight Brigade workouts and they are getting easier. My mental/spiritual goals are much better this week. 2 days of Meditation and 3 days of reading my Bible.
  5. *Midweek update* Main goal 209.8 lbs down from 215 lbs I have been spot on for my Diet, no Soda, and small amounts of added sugar. Been eating dark chocolate or fruit when i start to get a craving for sweets. Fitness, I haven't been able to walk much this week due to rain, but i have been doing laps in the house. I am continuing the Bodyweight brigade Level 1 workout 3 times a week and it is getting easier. Mental/Spiritual goals are 50/50 been doing good with reading my bible and but haven't done meditating beyond box breathing to try to get to sleep. Next update will be Saturday. Edited to Add weight loss
  6. Thanks to my Senior Chief and his love of the Bring Sally Up Squat challenge, that song has been running through my head for almost a week now.
  7. Funny you should mention headspace I downloaded it last night and will try it tonight after work. I'll let you know how it works for me.
  8. Yeah i was stationed there prior to getting stationed in Maine. Looking forward to going back.
  9. The biggest thing is to talk to a good recruiter, don't believe anything they say, take your ASVAB, and then shop around at the different recruiting offices to see who offers you the best deal. Let them know up front that you want to get the ASVAB and then shop around. I did and ended up going Army (Marines didn't offer as good a bonus). I 100% agree with Flagwaver here. I have been in the Coast Guard for 11 years now and have yet to do anything my recruiter told me I would do as an Operations Specialist.
  10. Okay lets try this again, tried posting this at noon today. Yes we can do this. I'll actually be moving from Maine this Summer, transfer time with the Coast Guard. Moving to a climate this Desert Rat is more acclimated to, Houston TX. Best of luck in the battle Ojara, I'll be rooting for you. Thanks Flagwaver, I agree this place is awesome for people like me, who lacked the motivation and accountability to stay in better shape.

  14. Hello Rebels, My name is Myrik, I'm a Dad of 2 girls, I'm an Operations Specialist First Class (E-6) in the U.S. Coast Guard. I'm an avid gamer, anything from video games to Table top RPG's. I like to read Sci Fi, Fantasy, and Steampunk books. The reason I joined the Rebellion is to be able to run around and chase my girls and not feel winded or tired after only 20 minutes. Recently I took a hike with my Lieutenant to re-enlist in the Coast Guard and felt winded after a 0.2 mile hike up Bradbury Mountain in Maine. After feeling so out of shape I knew I had to do something and remembered reading about the Jedi work out on nerd fitness back before the new Star Wars came out and decided to look more into the Academy and finally took the leap and here I am. My ultimate goal is to feel great and look good. My short term goal is to get below the Coast Guards max allow able weight for me which is 202 pound. only need to drop 8 more, would love to do this before April first but we shall see.
  15. Good morning fellow Rebels, Myrik here. Was introduced to nerd fitness almost a year ago but did nothing with it. It took me being winded after a 0.2 mile hike to the top of Bradbury mountain to do my Re-enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard (6 more years), to realize how out of shape I truly was. I joined the Rebellion last Wednesday and since joining have already lost 5 pounds and began walking almost everyday. I have cut back my intake of soda and drastically cut back on the sugar intake. So here is my Quest. Main Quest - Get down to 205 LBS by End of challange. That will put me 3 pounds from my "max allowable" - Focus on my mental/spiritual self. Diet - Continue cutting back on sugar. Eat Sugary snacks less then 3 times a week. - Continue cutting back on Soda. Currently I drink soda only on Pizza night (Sundays) I will continue to do so but with half the amount I normally drink. Fitness - Continue to do the Bodyweight brigade Level 1 work out 3 times a week. At first this seemed really daunting to me, since I can't remember the last time I worked out on a schedule. - Start riding my bike again. Now that the weather is warming up again going for a bike ride daily or every other day should become easier. I will say I have completed this is I'm riding on my now work out days, Tuesday, Thursday and the weekends. - Continue my daily walks with the family. Spiritual/Mental - Read the Bible 3 times a week. - Start meditating. This one will be a challenge for me. I have always had a hard time clearing my mind and keeping it from wandering (might have ADD). For me truly meditating once a week will be a big accomplishment. Look forward to keeping my fellow Rebels informed of my progress. I will try and update this post weekly with my progress. Myrik out. *Edited to make Main goal line up with 4 week challenge.*
