  1. The year of 2024 is going to be the year I respawn into a Wizard, I have studied things for a long time that it's time to put it to practical use and keep a journal of things that I will post when I write enough of it.,

I live in the frozen Northeast so most of my winter veggies come in the frozen variety, (besides winter veggies, beets, squashes, .....)

One of my go to for a quick dinner is chicken stir fry, the night before cube chicken into bite sized pieces marinate it in the fridge,  the next night I get my rice cooker going, heat up my wok (any big pan will work) brown the chicken take it out of the wok and put it on a plate and set to the side, add the veggies to the pan stir until warm throw most of the chicken back into the pan until it's all hot, by this time hopefully the rice will be done and you just scoop the rice into a bowl put the chicken veggie mix on top and viola dinner is served. With the left over chicken on the plate I use to make Asian chicken salad for lunch, start with spring greens and spinach, add mandarin oranges, rice noodles, cucumber (I like the crunch) add the chicken and use a sesame ginger salad dressing .

I have a ton of things like this I can do that I need to write down and share and because I am going to have a super busy spring I'm going to need to have a quick easy healthy meal plan that can be on the table in 30 minutes or less

I need to switch from my morning coffee to ice water, so if the barkeep has that I would be much obliged.

  2. I started this at 9:30ish this morning and dealing with electricians, plumbers, customers and a late pizza delivery I am now staring at a blank scree, so I will complete more of this tomorrow....

I did 5k's in April, May, August, September, October and Two in November, two of them were with my daughters and one with my niece

I started out the year eating healthy and then fell off, going to work on the recipes and techniques I found and actually write a physical cook book and not just a blog.

Starting tomorrow Dec 1st I'm going to set my alarm and hit the gym like I did earlier in the year.  I listen to spotify at the gym and on long runs and it totaled just under 29000 minutes for the year, so I'm going to try and break that next year.

Run and Strength train. Try to find a race a month, from March to November; not a lot of races during the Northern winter months, and don't have enough snow as of late for snow shoe racing.

ultimate goal is to lose 40-50 lbs by next September.

  4. It seems like when I post here I gain a little bit more desire to be consistent

My goal is to up my mileage and strength train for next Springs race schedule

Gym 5 times a week, plus a long run on the trails on the weekend.

Cook, have some crap going on in the family so I'm going to take over meal planning and cooking.

  5. With no time to spare I completed my 75k for the month of March by .2 miles,  that with taking 11 days off to a sore foot. I signed up for the April 75k challenge and hope to crush that distance with a lot more time to spare

Due to good things I'm going to be switching my long runs from Saturday to Sunday or at least attempting to my goal this weekend is a 6 miler we will see how it all plays out this weekend.

Grilled up some Moroccan spiced chicken last night for dinner and put the left over on my salad for lunch and I honestly think it was better on my salad.

    Welcome to the forums!

Interesting! What kind of dog do you have?

I have a Cattle Jack (Blue Heeler Jack Russel mix)  she's a rescue not a designer, we learned that she loves to pull sleds and skateboards so I am going to get her to train in Canicross

Went for a nice 3.33 mile run in the park yesterday on lunch, so I decided to ride the bike today for 6.3 miles and did my strength training afterwards, because I am trying to get back into running shape I am just doing Pull ups, push ups and inverted rows in sets

My overall goal is to slowly build up to 37-40mpw over the course of spring and summer from running 20miles this week, in order to do this I have to make sure to get my weekend long runs in, which ties into making time for myself

My only goal race is a late September 5k and a early October half marathon which I'm not trying to compete in but rather finish with a respectable time

Made peanut butter and banana oatmeal for breakfast, about to eat an orange and have a Turkey meat taco salad for lunch, so I took my spring greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, Monterey jack cheese and put taco seasoned ground Turkey over the top of it.

Last night I read 5 chapters of the Long Earth, I have a STEM fair that I am going to tonight so I don't know how much reading I will get to but I will try.

  7. Hmmm maybe a weight loss challenge will be a good thing, the less I weigh the faster I will be, since it's 6 weeks if I can lose 5lbs I will be happy

So I'm fka as Capt. Frost, I've decided to change my name and my character around a bit, to move into my new goals and the old happier me, as a kid I used to run miles of trails through an abandoned train yard , old cotton mill, the Erie Canal  and un-used cemetery land with my dog,  Now quite literally in my backyard is a bike path that used to be the rail line for a hydro-electric powered trolley and you can still see the remnants of old trolley stops along the way, I have dog that I am training to do Cannicross with and have access to countless miles of trails all within a half hour drive of my house.  So I am getting  back to my roots without trying to trip on them.

I have been completely sober since August of 22, so I will take a Sun-tea please

I just read Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut and just picked up Long Earth by Stephen  Baxter and Terry Pratchett ; also I am watching One Piece on episode 400(?) like Zoro who is training to be the best swordsman I am trying to compete in the Masters division of my local running scene.

  8. Yes, Yeti is a lot easier to spell though...

Yea I've slowly been getting back into to it too.  I'm kind of in a weird spot, I used to worry about mileage now I'm going for time and feel. I'm up to a half hour 3 days a week with 1 recovery run and a long distance run of 50 minutes and plan on adding onto the long run up to an hour before adding on to my daily runs. Winter is coming so I'm trying to get as much mileage and time up before I have to head indoors, iced over bike paths and narrow country roads with big snowbanks in the dark doesn't make for safe running. So hopefully I'll be able to set the treadmill to 40-45 minutes at a 2% incline and hope for spring.

  9. After a long absence of doing nothing and paying the price for it mentally as well as physically I have made my return. I am using what I learned from the past while looking forward to the future. My goals starting out are going to be simple, running, bodyweight work out and core work out, while having fun.

Running, this weekend 9/18 I hit my 28th year in a row running my towns 5k, keeping the streak alive. As for this 6 week challenge I'm going to be looking for another race in late October which will get me out and running more, shooting for running 25 minutes 4 days a week and a longer run of 40-50 minutes, and slowly build up to 30 mins and an hour long run, not really worrying about my distance just time for now, I'll worry about distance when I start getting ready for a spring half marathon.

Body weight 3 days a week, pull ups, push ups, inverted body rows, bw squats and lunges. Start out small maybe sets of 5 each 3 times and either add sets or add on to the sets to build up to 10 each mid winter

Core, two days a week, have a super simple hard core work out that takes all of 5 minutes to do, but is super effective on building core strength

Diet, continue to make oatmeal for breakfast and find simply healthy easy meals for dinner. Try to start bringing more salad for lunch.

Work out with my daughter, my daughter has shown an interest in throwing the shotput and discuss for Track, so I'm going to start doing the bw workout with her a few times a week, to not only bond with her but also help her get herself ready for the track season, I believe the school she goes to also does indoor track which I believe has indoor shotput, We will both check on that

Library, go to the library with the kids once a week, which will get me to read more, which will make more time for myself, which is something I was told needs to be done

Hike on the weekends with the kids and dog, Life can't simply be about doing non-stop chores or running around crazy, need to make time for myself but also enjoy the kids while they are still young and want to do things with me.
