  1. So how long do you think all these bikes people bought because of the pandemic end up at garage sales because they aren't being used; I'm just looking for an old road bike and used Walmart bikes are going for $200+; "Huffy Mountain bike has been in garage for the last 20 years, needs tires, and a tune up. asking $250" I wish I was kidding, I'm not. In the market for a smaller car just to get back and forth to work and bring the kids to school, you see all these ads for cars that are near 20 years old 160K+ miles and needs a new motor for $2500. So I don't know if people are that desperate for money that they are trying to make a quick buck off of crap, but buddy that car is worth $500 at the junk yard. Happier thoughts have been doing some good hiking and biking around the area and the coastal region of Maine.
  2. So a new year has started a chance to start over fresh. Get up and run. Meal prep, make lunches at night, fall weather means more crock pot meals Long runs Enjoy life
  3. mwahahaha, I know nothing of football and it shows AFTER SOME DICEY SELECTIONS, SARANACBEERDRINKER LOOKS TO BREAK OUT Draft Grade Proj Record Proj Finish C 0-14 10
  4. Things I can laugh at, procrastinated reading a article about procrastinating; https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a32870697/why-do-we-procrastinate-study/?utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=socialflowFBRW&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR07lrmQS2jfW5-HGbZuXpM4wm1hvN-SURszBWHz-Buwf1EcgmNdYJRlYF8
  5. This is one of those times where you have to keep a level head and let the opposition throw the hissy fit to make them look like idiots I posted my concern on a local community FB group, 95+% of the people agree with me, however there are a few doozies in there, to protect everyone's right I am removing everyone's names. "You all sound paranoid" "That school has absolutely no coverage to begin with. If a sniper wanted to shoot up the school they could do it from anywhere around that intersection. Pizza Hut, true value, the power lines across the street...... just stop" You’re kidding, you’re worried about a bench.. You people are out of your F'n minds! A F'n bench is NOT going to make a difference in anything you are worried and complaining about....WTF..... WAIT!!!! there are planes that fly over the school on final approach to Albany International Airport.....we need to outlaw that... because everyone knows that planes crash sometimes!¡! WTF!..... UNBELIEVABLE All this is because I suggested moving a proposed bench 10 feet down the path so it doesn't have a clear unobstructed view of the front door of the elementary school
  6. It's hit and miss, sometimes you roll behind the local grocery store and apartments but for the most part it's woods and country. I should take my good camera with me and take photo's along the way.
  7. How long do you go ignored before you raise holy hell? I"m about to pull a Doctor on them and they don't even realize.
  8. Things you never thought you would be doing.... I am actively trying to get them to move a proposed bench on the bike path. As of right now the proposed bench looks directly into the front doors of a local elementary school, if kids have to do active shooter drills I really don't think having a bench with clear access to the front door is the best of ideas.
  9. I'm a trail runner so the whole looking like Sasquatch thing is funny to me. It's all up to choice. All I know is that my kids shaved my back when they shaved me head and it itched like a mofo while it grew back. I was going to fix my typo of, me head; but it makes me sound like a pirate so I'm keeping it. Ever take a picture of yourself and think holy f how did I get this old?
  10. Mapped out the trail. it's a mile long figure 8.
  11. Yes, yes it will. Went out for a run this morning with the temps in the low 60's and even with the humidity it was still glorious.
  12. What a difference 16 degrees makes, was flying through this mornings run Took the kids on a social distance hike through the town park. Found a bunch of new easier to run on unmarked trails. Officially it's unofficialy part of the town park use at your own risk; it runs between the town park and the town baseball fields pretty much everyone but me knew about it. It's pretty well used, a lot less roots and rocks, the hills aren't as steep. I'm going to use this part of the trail for easy nice trail runs and the other part of the trail to get ready for trail races Goal take my daughter running and measure out the trail
  13. Training hack, if you know that major races you are planning all have negative elevation, training by running up the mountain first and coming back down The whole Impossible Kid album has gotten me through some tough times
  14. The nice thing about the bike path is no longer having to run on narrow country road during the pre-dawn hours.
  15. :vent: Seriously Umbrella Academy season two has been out for a week and there are already articles discussing the season finale; come on there should be a two week minimum at best before you start posting articles about the season finale. Yes I get it you have nothing else to do but binge watch tv, but there are still some of us that have things to do. for the record I did not read the article or even the article about the music in the new season. it's just annoying.
  16. Ok so I may have just set a 15 day burpee challenge, just add 3 sets of 10 burpees to your normal routine for 15 days straight My 15 day challenge is going to be run, and 3 sets of 5 pull ups, 10 burpees, 10 lunges M,W,F, S with my core work out on T, TH Ok so school opening is up in the air, but for right now it looks like it's going to be; so I need to plan on it. So for the next month I'm going to transition back to getting up at 6 am, going for a run and working out. Everyone is going to be bringing their lunch with them to school this year, they are going to create their own lunch menu and help pack their lunches nightly; but for now I'm going to just settle for lunch menu. Change my way of thinking, I need to stop thinking of OMG this is hard and thinking OMG I'm awesome. I routinely pushed a 100 lb stroller 6 miles with long runs up to 11 miles Hiked the Lake Placid Northville trail in 6 days Had a 70 day work out streak at the beginning of the year
  17. Ha nice find! Yes I did, and you know what it did, it made running uphill easier; it really did pay off. Anyone up for a challenge?
  18. Knocking off things on my to do list, pull ups, push ups and Census One thing that amused me was the whole what are you question that you had to type an answer for or it wouldn't let you continue, so for my kids and I typed in Mutt
  19. Eh I had to take a Emotional Intelligence class for Leadership today and damn did that not feel like one long therapy session; which was like yep yep yep, even brought up a few points during the presentation myself; the teacher im'ed me on the side and "you've been through this before" "Aye I have"
  20. It's all part of the Empire State Trail, when all is said and done, I will be able to go out my back gate and run/ride all the way to NYC, Buffalo, and the Canadian border
  21. Taking online classes, my kids love to point out to me "Don't you have homework to do?" yes, yes I do.
  22. So as that I'm training for the next 14 months I'm going to build a playlist for the days that I'm on the trail away from cars and need some extra motivation
  23. Making plans way longer than this mini challenge particularly running the Mohawk Hudson marathon in October of 2021, with the Helderberg to Hudson Half in April and the Crystal Lake Tri in August of 21. As of right now I'm waiting for the next mile of the new bike path to be done so I can start running to Hudson NY and back (not really, that would qualify as a ultra not a marathon; by car it's 28 miles away and with meandering through the woods I"m guessing it would end up in the 35+ miles one way) Goals Keep running, been avg'ing around 20 mpw so going to slowly up it to my long run is 10 miles and I'm constantly hitting 5's during the week for an avg around 25-30mpw. First order of business is to run for a half hour day 3-4 times a week and an hour on the weekend Keep gardening and cooking Squats and pull ups
