It's an amazing feeling of accomplishment, so I would definitely encourage you to keep at it! I think doing something like the 5k Color Run at some point would be a lot of fun.

Colour runs are SO much fun!

  2. I know when I make a role playing character I am given a base amount of points that I must distribute between those attributes to help form a baseline for basic personality and physicality. (some people roll dice and make all of those attributes random. I am a control freak)  I am guessing here that people are giving themselves points for attributes and then increasing them as they meet their goals.    I am new here so I haven't created a personal character sheet yet.

  3. In high school I played flute in marching and concert band.  I sang in the jazz choir (alto)

I had a kick ass cyborg in Heroes Unlimited

I actually read the books in lit class

I collect weird and funny sounding words (this helped me a lot in medical terminology and pharmacology class in nursing school)

    Fast forward to adulthood:

I loves me some Harry Potter

    I loves me some Skyrim

I play Pathfinder (level 5 Human Ranger and a level 1 Dwarven Druid)

I went into labour with my first baby at a gaming convention and breathed through early contractions while playing 'Toon.  (a lovely distraction)  My husband was in the D&D tournament down the hall.  His team mate knew I was about to pop and volunteered to kill him at any moment I needed her to

THe nerdiest thing I am doing at this very moment is participating in mystery knit-alongs that are thematically tied to certain TV shows.  I have done two Downton Abbey themed ones and now I am working on an Outlander one.

  4. If anyone is reading this, I am going to be pathetic and say I need a pep talk today.  My 10 year old and I had a rough morning and now I just feel drained and I know that as the afternoon wears on I am going to want to eat All The Bad Things because that's what I do when I am tired and drained and feeling cranky.  There is chocolate cake in my fridge.

I am hiding in Facebook.  Homeschooling my youngest is going horribly because I used up so much emotional energy dealing with the 10 year old.

    Blargh.

  5. When I was between phones I used a couple of c25K podcasts--I mostly chose the ones I did  for the unscientific reason of which ones played the music I liked most.   There is no law saying you have to progress week to week like the podcasts say.  If you need to repeat weeks just to get yourself used to moving your body in a different way and slowwwwly build up stamina, do it!  That is why I had more than one podcast on the go--to change up my music when I was stuck on weeks.

  6. This weekend was bad bad bad.  I ate much too much salty gross food and today I am bloated and dehydrated.  I will drink ALL the water today and get myself back on track.

Today's Zombie Stats:  ZR 5k W3D1  2.9 miles total, 42 min duration.  5/6/4/2 min run intervals.

I RAN Six minutes without stopping!!!!!

    This weeks goals:

Body:  Finish Week 3 of Zombies Run 5k

    Eat vegetables at lunchtime

    Drink more water than coffee

    Chart my food on MFP

Life: Check Facebook ONCE in the morning and ONCE in the Afternoon and ONCE after dinner instead of every five minutes.  I am ashamed to admit how hard this is going to be for me.

  7. Not a recipe, but the Organic No Salt seasoning mix from Costco is the bomb if you need something quick and tasty.  I pretty much put it on everything that stands still.

  8. I've seen kids put on strict paleo diets from a young age develop really messed up relationships with food as they got older and mum and dad had less control over what was being eaten--if cupcakes were brought to school for a birthday party it would trigger a binge, food hoarding and stealing from snack supplies at friend's houses, etc.  I don't think demonizing or restricting foods is a good idea, unless there is a medical reason to do so.  We follow Cookie Monster's dietary guidelines at our house and certain foods are "always" foods, like fruit and veg, and cake and candy and ice cream are "sometimes" foods.  Neither good nor bad.   You eat always foods to make you healthy and strong, and sometimes foods because while they taste good, your body doesn't feel good if you eat too much of them.

I need to stop seeing food as treats and rewards for myself....I am really good at having that view with my kids, less so with me.
