  1. Awhh thanks! It's getting there. My legs are definitely starting to feel a little stronger. Although that's probably just wishful thinking after what.. three or four circuits.. haha! And yeah, i've always hated counting calories etc. It just doesn't work for me (well.. it does, but you really don't want to see the amount i have to spend / eat to gain weight! ). So when i'm in my healthy lifestyle i tend to follow three principles that USUALLY work out well for a healthy physique and mind: 1) Eat well. Don't overdo it, don't under do it. Don't stress about it, just eat meat, carbs, veg etc. A good balance. Eat till full, don't eat when not hungry. 2) Train Well. Gradual incrementing training. Even if it's not a full workout programme, even if it's just 10 pressups a night. By the next week, make it 15 pressups a night. Sleep goes with it, sleep well, rest well. Oh.. and drink water. 3) Laugh. Seriously. You'd be amazed the difference this makes to life. Laugh at life. Laugh at yourself. Laugh purely for the sake of being alive. Find something that literally hurts your ribs with laughter every day if you can. And that's it.. that's my "rules of life". I do follow them when my life is in order, it's just i let it get a bit.. unkept? Un-motivated? But, i'll get there!
  2. I'll keep an eye on it for sure, thanks I think i'm going to continue the wrist rehab yoga that's on doyogawithme.com , and if it's the same after a month then definitely go get it checked. Haha yeaah, get that water topped up (i'm one to talk though, yeesh!)
  3. Not too sure what's caused it to be honest. I don't know the muscle groups, so easiest to explain: Lay your hand palm down flat on a surface, then don't move your arm, but bring your fingers up and back. The crease between your hand and where your forearm meets at the top, I keep getting a pain there. It's not constant, like i don't notice it most of the time, but if i put pressure on it like pressups, or the opposite way (think trying to touch wrist inside forearm with fingertips), i get a dull pain in the same place, and it's kinda stiff. If i put too much pressure on it, it starts to be quite painful. Can't actually link it to anything specific, it just kinda developed. At first i thought the same thing, that i'd slept funny, but it's been a while now and it's not gone away, nor is stretching the wrist helping.
  4. LOL I can just imagine some of the looks that book will get, but it's still awesome xD And yeah, all is going good. Threw myself upstairs to do my bodyweight workout and owned it Wrist is getting a little worrying though. But other than that going well, got some move stuff going on which will distract/test me for a while, but it'll get there. Also started alternating tai chi and yoga. It's proving fun (did first yoga stuff yesterday and going to continue gentle yoga each morning).
  5. I'm feeling that lol. Having to bounce between "chilled, i'll get there" and "get off your ass Limitless, today ain't gonna wait for ya!" Also on the concept of seeing only others "promo reels", i think that's what's good for me personally to aim for eventually, that [strong] effortless [/strong] air surrounding me! How are things getting on otherwise, I hope your mental struggles aren't defeating you too much? Limitless uses antidote on Aeri There we go, all sorted!
  6. Hiya Red! Glad you enjoyed the soiree (did i spell that right?) , and nice one on the dress (in the dress?), it's awesome to have those little things as reminders we're making progress! General deviance lmaoo, rebel without a clue cause xD Looking forward to your workout?
  7. It's awesome to see another Final Fantasy fan Progression in your workout = Win, an absolute Final fantasy fanfare haha *da - da - da -da dooo be da da daaaa* lmaoo xD Hope you feel fully recovered soon!
  8. Today wasn't too bad! Wake up before 12pm - Yep! Breakfast - 4 fresh cooked boiled eggs. Switch a coffee for water - Done! Turned down the option of alcohol last night - Yey! NF Bodyweight Circuit Night: Squats; Man i'm starting to love these. I think i'm starting to feel a little strength and slightly better form! Push Ups; Up to 20 a set. (My wrist is killing me, might need to get this checked out as it's ongoing for a while now). Lunges - 20 per set (10 each leg) Weighted inverted rows - I use one side of my barbell with a weight on, but do the exercise the same as otherwise. 35 per arm per set. (5kg weight) Plank - 40 seconds first 2 sets, 60 seconds last set! Had a really good endorphin rush on/after tonights worout. Diet wise, I'm still not where i need to be. But, I've always been an "eat when i'm hungry" kinda guy, with no set eating routine. So as long as i at least eat SOMETHING during the day and a meal at night (preferably a good mix of proteins, carbs, healthy fats and veg) I'm happy enough. Never was one for calorie counting, and as i'd prefer to GAIN weight, the amount i'd need to eat is INSANE. Upwards of 1k calories a day. Screw that, i'll just eat to be full How I feel: How I probably look:
  9. I believe he was trained by "John Ding". They have a website and stuff, which when i looked through had this 20 step foundation form, paraphrased from page: "In all the different styles of Tai Chi Chuan, the form is used as a tool to help you ... TheJohn Ding Form (JDF) is a simplified 20-step empty-handed form based on ... JDF will provide practitioners with a good foundation and understanding to ... "
  10. Heey, thanks for the reply!  Structure will definitely help me, but i'm using this challenge to figure out that structuce, that balance needed between "this is too easy on myself" and "wow, what have i let myself in for!".

Also, the avatar is "Cho Ku Rei"  a Reiki symbol which has one translation of "Let there be life". :)

haha of course, that is what challenges are for :)

  11. I'm going to do a restructure of my threads after this challenge, maybe throw in some images, make it more me ^^ Deep fried Oreo? No thanks! haha xD
  12. Hi KVNLLS, that new day has started!  How are you feeling today, ready to jump in?

    1. KVNLLS

      KVNLLS

Yep, I'm ready to do this! I've been working on a routine like you suggested, mixing in some strength with my yoga classes and my walking routine. Also, I've made a decision to cut out my sodas, but I'm going to start by reducing the amount of soda I drink (basically only when I really really want one). I'll never lose weight if I don't do that!

I'll be starting my full routine on Monday by doing yoga classes on M, W, F and on T, TH I'll be going to the gym and starting off light.

For the weekends, I'll go for my walks so I can relax but still be active. Actually, I'm thinking I'd like to take my little hiking chair and walk for a while in the woods and find a nice place to sit and read. I could use that kind of change of environment. That walking will start today, I'm going to head out there later this evening.

Sorry for the late reply, yesterday I went to the theater to watch one of my friend's in a play he was doing, Young Frankenstein. Another thing I am trying to do to improve my lifestyle is get together with my friends more. These days, I'm something of a homebody and I miss my days when I used to go out and see the world so I'm trying to break free from however this happened.

How are things going for you?

Sounds like you have your plan well in mind!  It's definitely a great start.  I'd say be VERY gentle on yourself to begin.  Don't try to bite off too much, that way we have little gradual steps to go through that show us progressing.

And I can feel you with the homebody thing.  I'm the same.  Currently in the middle of prepping for a short notice home move (gotta get paperwork sorted, funds raised, vans arranged for cross country move, and everything else, within 3 weeks) , so i'm going to be real stressfull and probably fall a little behind on aspects of my challenge.

Cutting out soda is a great idea, i'm trying to do the same with coffee.  I'm honestly finding it harder than when i stopped smoking haha.

  13. I'm glad the yoga is helping you. It can be a nightmare to live with joint and back pain. And it's always good to push the boundaries, often we don't realise our comfort zones aren't as small as we thought they were
  14. PS, thanks, i wanted to stop smoking for a long time heh xD. Alcohol actually became the replacement habit.. but i'm cutting that away too now.
  15. Thanks so much, that doyogawith me is fantastic! Perhaps i'll reschedule my training program, strength day ; off day with tai chi in morning and yoga at night Btw, i did my work out! I wasn't up to my usual standard but i did it, grumbling the entire time haha!
  16. You're most welcome. That's what this community seems to be for, to help one another we really can do this! And okay, i'll do the best i can to help you push those comfort zones. I get living in the moment, i'm like that myself. I don't worry **too** much about the future, but instead try to focus more on the present and living it the best i can. Your goals seems awesome. I did a little parkour myself years ago. If i could reccomend, don't separate your strength and flexibility training so much, instead look into staggering them through your week (with your yoga and stamina work on off days from strength training). There's a great bodyweight routine on this site. Although by fee, i assume you mean you've joined either the NF Yoga or Fitness one? In either case, that's awesome! We'll get to know one another a little better over time, and hopefully that will include learning exactly what's needed; encouragement, gentle pressure, advice, or a good ol' yell! Even yelling at ourselves in the mirror haha. So for me, goal wise I have a thread which i'll link at the end, but generally: Build up a level of fitness nearer to what i had before (never very bulky, but very strong for my size ((ranger guild seemed good for this, functional strength)) ) Repair some flexibility and back pain issues. Learn Tai Chi and/ or Yoga (started tai chi, it's proving difficult but enjoyable!) Get my life into routine again. (That's what my current 4 week challenge is about). Stop drinking.. And a few other bits and pieces, i'll add them as i remember them. I've ascribed with the druid guild, as my beliefs and goals are somewhat of a merging of several guilds, but the Druids seem to be where my heart lies. I'm a spiritual person, and it seems i can pursue that with Druids while continuing my ranger/warrior blend of goals too! To note - I came here from reading "Level Up Your Life". If you haven't read it, i'd really recommend it, like seriously haha! From here, i'd say we should follow one another's profiles for updates, and also have a look around the forums a little more. Your respawn was successful, you have a full HP bar, ready to fight? 17. Hey Dream Thanks for stopping by. That's good advice with the "just the warm up then let's see" philosophy. I missed the workout last night so i can't let myself miss it today. Coffee wise is a good idea too. It's much more tempting because i don't work atm and coffee is my habit (i stopped smoking about 4 months ago), but i'll try that "think again after a full glass of water" theory, it sounds like it may help! I'm glad you like my list. I still have a lot i want to add to it (meditation, tai chi, reiki, and yep, hopefully yoga, among a lot of other things). The "laugh" section is important to me, i feel like so many people focus so much on squeezing everything they can out of each day, but forget to just marvel at the fact they're alive xD With the yoga, i'll definitely take you on your advisement here. The doctors haven't been able to do much with my back pain (to be honest it got a LOT worse when they told me to STOP working out). Do you have any reccomendations of teach yourself basics at home online options? (Free would be preferable, if not.. i'm sure i can figure something out lmao ) Thanks again dream, and thanks for following me too
  18. I think i'd have to agree with that Jburns. The tutor was very friendly, the class very welcoming, but I'm just very offput by the idea of this.
  19. I know this might sound strange, but that's added as my "never earn" experience. I will never tick that box, because I believe that I should spend time with my wife for the want of it, not for an experience box. It's in an odd way my reminder that there will always be "experience" out of reach in life, to keep myself humble. I hope that made sense lol!
  20. Sweet! As an ex pushup fanatic, i know how AWESOME it feels to aim for and manage that 50 in one set xD Great work!
  21. Hi Kvnlls, I feel you, I really do. I'm a week into my first challenge, and I'm feeling burnt out already. It's not easy to make these changes, no matter how gentle we try to go, nor how much we know we need them. But, remember we can always chow down on some respawn burger. So it went wrong today? Well tomorrow is always waiting for you. Just keep in mind it will never come, but we can always act as though we're preparing for it. Don't give up, don't give in. Reading through your lifestyle, i feel we may be very similar (minus the uni.. i even bailed on that before it began). If you would like, we could keep one another going, (accountable), as i know how difficult that motivation can be when it's a "meh, who's it going to bother" mindset. Chin up, eyes forward, shoulders back. Ready? Go!
  22. I've been really lazy today. Like .. majorly. I was up really late (2am), got up at 10am. I've drank a lot of coffee, didn't do my workout last night (was pretty burnt out/stressed about stuff) so i want to do that later or tomorrow, and generally haven't been very deliberate in my day today. Not happy with myself, but i guess it happens sometimes? Habits take time i suppose.
  23. Loving the challenge. I think a lot of people here have developed a lot more structure in things. I've gone really easy on myself on my first challenge lol! I'd love to discuss your tai chi practice with you more at some point. I'm becoming very interested
  24. Thanks for the vote of confidence I can be pretty.. ridid? In the way i think things should be at some point, but yeah, i'd like to learn something i could take away to another class, or my own practice outwith class and think "yeah, i'm doing something the way it's been done for many generations". To me it's the difference between looking at and appreciating an original Davinci , or looking at an abstract copy someone made last month.
  25. Thanks Aeri, i thought i was right to be confused lol! Is it wrong that i'm considering whether to attend that class again or not? I mean I know it may sound silly, but i'd like to study classic (would traditional be the right word) yang style, not one that is possibly one someones' made up. I guess I may simply not understand Tai Chi enough to know whats going on, but 1 internet result matching , and very vague at that, has me worried lol.
