  1. Sorry folks. Been a way a few days. Today was the first day of my reformed workout routine and I think I'm going to be SORE tomorrow. Took the same routine, added an exercise and added an additional set of 10 to each workout. I have 2 different ones and I alternate between them. Today I got home smelling rank as ever from sweat which is now one of my aspirations. Yesterday was a cardio day. Nothing special but I upped my walking pace by 0.1 mph and noticed my HR is down about 5bpm from the start of this month. Scale might not be moving but I'm getting stronger both physically and cardiovascular-wise too. Will see how I feel tomorrow to determine if tomorrow will be a cardio day or active recovery day. If it turns out to not be a cardio day, I'm going to do some yoga. The weekend is here fellow rebels. Enjoy it!
  2. Greetings programs, Not much to report today. It was a rest day. Wondered about the mall to get steps in but that's about it. Looking forward to tomorrow morning sweat session. A little sore but I think a good iron pumping session tomorrow is doable. Fitbit Aria scale says I am down 1% body fat since the end of March. Weight loss not so much but at least it seems like the strength training is working. Ruff out n redi for tomorrow
  3. Captains diary day 2 Woke up with a sore shoulder so decided I would take a rest day, rolled over went back to bed. About noon after being up a bit shoulder pain was gone so it must have been from sleeping on it wrong. Decided to hit the gym after work. Probably should have made it a rest day. Didn't feel like my training went well and I felt spent by the end of it. Will rest tomorrow for sure. Have a post exertion headache now which is usually a sign I worked to hard or am not properly hydrated. Also need to hone in my diet more. I think I need to up my carb intake some. Here are screens of my workout today: Ruff out n redi for tomorrow
  4. Hey SkaiValentine, your story sounds a lot like mine so I thought I would share my story in hopes that maybe it helps you out. When I was a teenager, I had terrible heavy crampy painful periods. The kind where I would be doubled over puking and bleed through everything. TMI I know. Suffered that way through high school and when I went to college went on the pill. That helped a lot and for about 8 years was in womanhood bliss. Most months my friend came and went without much ado. Then I noticed that I was starting to have the cramping again, but ibuprofen helped and I didnt think anything of it. Then came the heavy; bleed through everything periods. At first they lasted 5 days, but then started to get into the 10 to 12 day realm. Googled my symptoms and it seemed like ti could have been a uterine fibroid. Went to my MD who said "you're too young" for them, switched my pill and said give it a few months. I humored him, but something still didnt seem right, so I found a new MD. Told her my symptoms and she was like, well it sounds like it could be a fibroid, lets run some tests. I had to go off my pill for a couple of months (scary) and I had to take Iron because I had become anemic. Had a few tests done and they which confirmed I had one. After a month of taking the Iron I started to feel better; this was while getting the tests completed. I later learned that being anemic seems to make the bleeding worse. Once it was confirmed, I was scheduled for surgery to have it removed. I was anxious leading up to it, but knew I couldn't just live it with anymore; life is too short to be miserable. When I woke up from surgery, I immediately felt better. I had my first fibroid free and non OC period and it was what most folks would consider normal. I went back on the pill for a few years and then in November of 2014, had the Skyla IUD inserted. i LOVE IT. I have not had a period since insertion. Turns out that uterine fibroids are petty common; most folks have them but they're asymptomatic. It isn't until they become symptomatic or hinder fertility that people find out they have them. Many women suffer with horrid periods because of them as well.
  5. Today marks the beginning of week 4 of my journey. Must say, this is the first time I have truly felt motivated. Its as if something clicked in my head and I found myself to be "redi" if you will. Only I would find the motivation and drive on April fools day I have been working to hone in my diet over the past few weeks. I still have some work to do to get it fully dialed in; but I am at least 60% clean/paleo at this point. Husband asked if I wanted McDs yesterday and I practically screamed "NO!" which in hindsight stuck me that I turned down the opportunity to down some french fries; may favorite food! My biggest nutrition struggle are the times that I don't feel like cooking and have exhausted my leftovers stockpile. My goal at this point is to work on decreasing my body fat percentage to around 25%. Today I am at 48.9% I know some folks focus on weight, some people want to be a certain size; to each their own. I am a mesomorph body type and have decided that it is time to embrace what I was given. I will never be a size 0 and with my rectangular shape will not have that hourglass figure that is coveted. Instead, I can be a lean, mean, weightlifting machine! And you know what?! That sounds fantastic. My current routine looks as follows: Total-body strength training - three times per week. Cardio - Steady-state 2 times per week Active Recovery - Once a week and/or as needed. Today was an active recovery day. I was still feeling sore in my chest and lats when I woke up this morning and rather than risk over-training; gave myself an extra day off from strength training. I struggle with off-days and active recovery days sometimes because I feel like I "should" be doing something more. I never thought that I would ever be disappointed about a given day being a rest day; that the prospects of lounging around on the couch in my PJs would depress me. Go figure?! Battle log: 10 minute warm-up 20 min walk 5 minute cooldown Ruff out n redi for tomorrow
