  1. I don't know what the proper spelling is of what you were trying to type. I just thought it sounded funny. Add in urban dictionary's definitions, and it's funnier.
  2. Another speedy ruck this morning followed by the NF Body Weight routine. Did 4 sets for the first time today. Hamstrings were smoked by the end. Also, fwiw, planks have been 30 second planks... I'll probably push that to 45's next week. (I believe i'm still a few weeks from having the power rack. 😔 ). I've been slowly increasing the dumbbell weight each week & will more than likely add dumbbell(s) to the squats next week. First time my body is feeling tired from the pushups. Might log a lower number tomorrow depending on how that feels (despite my inner desire to catch up to RP's nonsense). Also, if you aren't listening to Run the Jewels... correct that shit.
  3. You should see what I do with my shoddy booken. 👀 Correction... 65, Hare. 381-340.
  4. Ha. During this morning's outing, my gf turned to me and said it felt nice that it wasn't so humid out. I just looked at her incredulously. It's been raining for four straight days with more on the way this afternoon. I acknowledged that the cool air temperature made it feel better, but that we were still essentially walking through a cloud. And, then I sent her this screenshot when we got home... So, TLDR - I was also very wet upon my return.
  5. Snug at home is the best during a thunderstorm. But, I'm also a bit sadistic and love being snug in my tent during a thunderstorm (not in open fields, and not on ridgelines, I'm not that sadistic). This morning's ruck felt smoooooth. Pushups - turns out I've averaged 30/day over the course of the challenge so far. Over the next two days, I'll pass the mid-point of the 666 challenge...
  6. Holy Thunderstorms, batman. Yesterday was pretty epic for the storms. They rolled in early in the afternoon and kept coming in waves through the night. I had fallen deeply asleep only to be woken up to what sounded like a series of explosions. It was thunder, but it clearly hit something close and had a rolling sound afterwards. Fully expected to hear sirens, but none materialized. I then rolled over figuring it had to be about 4 - and whooooo was I surprised to see that it was only 2345 and I was wide awake! Spent much of the next hour ... awake listening to the downpour ebb and wave in between the cracks of lightning. I then woke up around 0430. Hopped up around 0515 and did some work. Only to promptly fall back to sleep around 0600 for another 90 mins. Not sure if I count that as being up at 0530 or not. ha. Missed my cardio window this morning, but did the NF bodyweight routine and some light deadlifts to get that motion going again. Feels good to have a week of consistency under the belt... yes, it's just a week. But, I'm taking it. Will try to squeeze out a short run waddle this afternoon.
  7. How are things going for the first week, Rinna?
  8. No, "Abolish the Police" means getting rid of them entirely. "Defund the Police" means to reduce the funding of police departments in order to demilitarize them, and not have police respond to situations where social workers trained to deal with mental illness, de-escalation techniques (that don't have the immediate threat of jail/fines/etc). It means refocusing our efforts on how we care for our communities. If you look at the budgets of many (most?) communities, the largest line item is for the police. Defunding allows enough funds for an effective (re-focused) police force, more education funding, and other community workers. "Defund the police" is the absolute correct phrase for this.
  9. Ok, we are mostly through the first week... let's see how I'm doing... Challenge Goals 1. Be up at 0530, 5 Days per week. Nailed this 6 days this week. 2. Complete 666 pushups during the challenge. As stated somewhere - may have just been a text to RP. But, I have no idea where I actually calculated this number from. But, I somewhat suspect it was for a shorter period of time than the length of this challenge. So, yes - 666 is the number to hit... because... well, 666. But, I am well on my way to hitting 666 for the challenge. (RP and I have set a stretch goal for 1000... for which, I am also on pace for). You can check in on our progress here. 3. Run at least 4 days per week. Meh. I've run 0 times this week. But, I have rucked 20 miles over the course of 4 rucks. And, I've biked ~16 miles this morning. So, not a total loss. I'm working on the troublesome tibialis attempting to avoid the shin splints. But, running will commence next week. 4. Strength work at least 3 Days per week. 2 days of NF Bodyweight Routine & 1 day of dumbbell work. So, doing fine here. Can't freaking wait for my rack to be delivered. Fingers crossed it comes next week. 5. Modify the diet. Much less drinking. So, that's good. Less snacking so that's pretty good. Meals are generally good and I'm trying to be cognizant of not eating until I'm full. But, just eating reasonable portions. Weighing myself tomorrow may be an indicator of how this is actually going. ha.
  10. I have never heard of this before. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. I have been fairly fortunate in my fitness career with regard to injuries, so I apparently haven't learned some of these very useful random stretch exercises. Planning on a rolling session tonight - I'll add this to the mix.
  11. The spreadsheet makes it look like a daily pushup challenge. It isn't really. So, You don't have to do any if your body is telling you not to. We are just trying to hit target number(s).
  12. It's been closed for some months now. OOOoooh. Toe lifts.
  13. So, that weird little muscle on the front of the shin is the ..... First off, Fuck the Tibialis! I don't think it has the same ring to it as Fuck the Police, but, it will have to do. Ok, not really. But, it is the current source of my discomfort as I try to get back into a shape other than doughy. So, time to Strengthen the Tibialis! While scouring in stock items at Titan Fitness, I stumbled upon this little machine for which I could not figure out what it did. The google taught me that it is specifically to help strengthen the tibialis by curling your feet up towards your shin. Add change plates to increase intensity. It seems like waaaaay too much of a specialized piece of machinery for my garage gym, however. So, I'm now looking for short bands... which are of course mostly out of stock... to replicate the movement and add resistance. Bands, I can at least utilize for more than one movement and one tiny annoying muscle.
  14. Whoa... I'll try it out! Thanks. Also, thanks, @Xena for allowing us to hijack your thread.
  15. Sounds amazing!! "acroynm-less friend" is just hillarious. There is nothing wrong with taking them for a run, despite @bigm141414 objections. Also, HI @bigm141414!!! And, what do you mean, finally!?
  16. And, I look forward to getting back to that. The stadium is going to hurt SO FUCKING MUCH when we are allowed to be back there. For reference for anyone else reading this thread wondering what I am talking about - The Stadium is Harvard Stadium, which in the days before the world moved on, was open to the public to workout in.... and was gloriously painful. Phoenix and I would workout with several hundred of our closest friends sort of like this:
  17. Hmm... thanks. It would be helpful if that feature showed somewhere that listed all my followed topics, rather than having to visit every guild listing.
  18. @RisenPhoenix - Damn Hare...
  19. BOOM! Congrats on the victories! Keep it up.
  20. We already know you are going to beat me to the goal number. You have the advantage of actually being in shape. I'm taking the tortoise route, you can have the hare one this challenge. Annnnnnd..... 1000 seems very much in reach there doesn't it... I come from a position of having met many nerds IRL. They know my name. I'm cool if others do too. (Double-checked with RP, and he's cool with it, as well.) But, I do appreciate the concern.
  21. So, because of the way this site doesn't retain an easy way to jump to unread posts in a thread anymore, I stumbled upon this old tidbit. And, every time I see someone like that I think of this very helpful meme....
  22. I want to hear much more about THIS
