  1. Ran my fasted mile yesterday on the treadmill. Posted up an 8:40 mile. Slowed down a good bit after that and did my 3.1 miles in about 35 minutes. I finished 3.2 miles in 30 minutes on Monday. My overall goal is to be able to run an outside 5k in under 30 minutes, so I'm trying to get my treadmill 5k down as low as I can. I know running outside is much, much different and difficult. Going to wait another 30lbs or so before running outside.
  2. I'm all for this idea! I'll get my run in tomorrow and compare it to the upcoming Sunday.
  3. A very belated "greetings!", I've been late getting into this challenge, but would love to throw in with this Squad if accepted! My quick intro. Began at 340lbs+ August 2010. I've been following the preachings of Steve Kamb and Mark Sisson since then. Currently at 230lbs. I'm in better shape than I was in high school 6+ years ago. I'm contracting on an Army base in Afghanistan, which has it's positive and negative impacts on the fitness journey.
  4. Still holding steady at 230lbs. We are in the second week of a two week break from the gym. I'm still getting in and running, but slipped up a couple times with the cookies at the DFAC. Back on it and looking forward to cutting back into this shell I've created.
  5. Weighed in at 230.6lbs last Friday. Wanted real bad to see the other side of 230lbs, but all in good time. Worked a lot of overtime this weekend. Slept in today, but hit the gym and did my 10 mile run that I put off from Saturday. I finished in a faster time than last time, 2 hours 6 minutes (I think, wrote it down somewhere...). I've discovered listening to podcasts work better for me during a long run than music. Two episodes of RadioLab have me covered for a 2 hour period. Any ideas on good podcasts are greatly appreciated and well received. Favorite part of the run was weighing in afterwards at 229.4lbs. Now I just have to stay focused and ensure that I post an even better number on Friday.
  6. Awesome work so far, Kyle! Just saw your profile. We are starting from literally the exact same weight with the same goal for the end of this challenge. I got my CCENT about a month ago, looking to go for my ICND2 next month. I've got some amazing resources for the test. Just let me know if you're interested.
  7. The eats have been good. Lots of chicken and beef, salads and broccoli. I need to continue working on letting up on the ranch, and resorting to vinegar. I've also been a bit too relaxed with grabbing the bbq ribs... So friggin good. Lifting on Monday and Wednesday went well. Managed to increase the weight on about half the lifts, focusing on reps for the other half. For having never really run in my life, I have jumped straight into the fire. Did a 10 mile run/walk last Saturday. Took 2 hours and 23 minutes. Hoping to post up a better time this Saturday. Ran 5 miles Tuesday and Thursday night, both took an hour each. Friday mornings are my official weekly weigh in. I still weigh myself every visit to the gym, pretty excited about what I saw tonight, so I'm looking forward to the morning. Pics should be up in the next few days, not going to keep putting this off. I figure it will be pretty damn good motivation to have my fat ass on the web. Should fuel my fire to get a better looking pic posted up next to it.
  8. ...stone by stone. Not my first challenge, but I've been away for the last couple. Glad to be reporting back for duty! The Stats Height: 5'8" Initial Weight: 340lbs Current Weight: 238lbs Challenge Goal: <220lbs Race/Class: Viking Ranger Fitness/Health: +Get back to eating primal. I've been eating keto for a while now, just need to start making better choices. Less diet sprite... more veggies and fish... +Jog an entire 5k on the treadmill. Weight training M/W/F. I've got a couple coworkers I lift with. We're doing something called DC training. It has a pretty solid following on T-Nation. I'm seeing some great results after only a couple months on it. I'll be posting personal records on lifts. Cardio M/T/Th/Sat. Generally do intervals on the stair stepper. Soaked by the end of it, and have pretty solid control of my heart rate. The cardio is fasted, as it's done right after waking. I may be mixing Saturday up and jogging with a couple soldiers. Goal is ten miles on the treadmill. Expecting it to take a couple hours. I'm expecting to get broke off. But I'm hoping to build up to it over the next couple of weeks. I'll post up pics soon. Not going to hide behind text this time around!

  10. Awesome suggestions This will be done. Thanks!!
  11. I was in a good class for a couple months this last winter. I've got the sun salutation down and was thinking about doing "x" number of rounds every morning. Would you suggest incorporating any other poses with it? Do you have any favorites? I do yoga partially for the meditative benefit, but mostly for the way it stretches me out. Also, do you (or anyone else) have any favorite yoga dvds/videos to follow along with? Or any suggestions along this line of thinking? Thanks for the advice!!!
  12. These are good call outs, Aidan! Thanks! I downloaded the PB Workout but never read it. I've just skimmed through it and definitely see now what I was missing out on. Awesome, awesome call out. Thanks again!
  13. Woot, thanks man, I will. I'll be hitting you up on MFP and Fitocracy from the looks of it.
