  1. Day Three 1) I walked about a mile today. (2/20) 2) I drank over 24 oz. of water today. (3/28) 3) I did not do yoga today. (1/12) 4) I completed my morning routine. I completed the evening routine, except for putting away the laundry. It took longer than usual to dry, and at that point several family members had gone to bed, making putting away clothes a bit difficult. However, I didn't use that as an excuse not to do the rest of my evening routine, so I'm taking the point! (6/56)
  2. Day Two 1) I did not do any walking today. (1/20) 2) I drank 24 oz. of water today. (2/28) 3) I completed a yoga routine. (1/12) 4) I completed both my morning and my evening routines. (4/56) I do need to get my evening routine done a bit earlier (at least, the laundry part and the prepping for the next day part. That way I'm not bothering my wife while she's trying to sleep!
  3. May 9, 2016 So, I totally flaked out on this log, but I'm back to pick myself up and get going again! Breakfast: sourdough English muffin (one side buttered) with a fried egg, a sausage patty, and a slice of cheddar cheese; large banana, glass of Green Goodness juice Lunch: sweet potato with a little butter, half a slice of ham Snacks: half a slice of cheese, two carrots, chocolate bar Exercise: yoga routine
  4. My wife helps out at home, but she often ends up butting heads with our son (they are so alike it's ridiculous)! She works nights, so at least she can be home with him during the day, and she takes him to the tutoring sessions the school is requiring in order to get him back to regular school days! I will have to look into QiGong and T'ai Chi. I'm kind of limited to equipment I already have, and learning new stuff via the Internet because I can't really afford to spend much money on...well, anything! Hi! I will try to follow you as well! I am notoriously bad at remembering to check things, but I will do my best to pop into your thread occasionally! Day One 1) I walked the 1/2 mile to my mom's house to see her for Mother's Day. Then I walked the 1/2 mile back home. 2) I drank over 24 oz. of water today! 3) I chose not to do yoga today. 4) I completed my morning and evening routines.
  5. Ok, I promised to post my routines, so here you go! Morning Routine Make and eat breakfast. Shower and get dressed. Fix my hair. Wash my face. Brush my teeth. Days Off: Put on makeup and jewellery. Workdays: Pack a lunch. Start a load of laundry. Unload the dishwasher. Evening Routine Wash face. Brush teeth. Walking Workdays: Pack backpack with clothes, shoes, makeup, and jewellery. Other Days: Lay out clothes, shoes, makeup, and jewellery. Update NerdFitness. Tidy the house. Fold and put away the laundry.
  6. Hi, everyone! I'm Taylara, and this is my first challenge here at Nerd Fitness. My big focus at the moment is reducing the amount of stress in my life, or at least coming up with ways to deal with that stress better. I recently discovered that my blood pressure is insanely high. I've been taking meds to help control it, but I am hoping to find a cause so I'm not stuck taking pills for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, none of the doctors I have seen have a clue so far. It's entirely possible that my high blood pressure is related mainly to the high levels of stress in my life. I work in a fairly high stress job. I deal with teenagers, their parents, and have lots of federally and/or state mandated deadlines to meet! On top of that, I have three special needs children at home (one ASD & GAD, one ADHD, and one ASD, ADHD, & ODD). My youngest is currently on an indefinite suspension from school. I also have my wife, who I love very much, but she's ASD and ADHD. Plus, she has a ton of medical issues (diabetes, had skin cancer in October, and had a heart attack in November) so that's stressful. On top of that, she's transgender, so I've been trying to work on getting appointments set up to help her with her transition. Oh, and my parents (who never liked her to begin with) are very anti-transgender and think I should get a divorce...so there's that. Needless to say, stress is omnipresent in my life! With all of that being said, I decided to start out relatively small for my goals: 1) Go for a walk at least 5 days every week. (Since I have to walk to work 4 days a week, this should be fairly easy.) 2) Drink at least one bottle (24 oz) of water every day. 3) Do yoga at least 3 days a week. 4) Complete my morning and evening routines every day. (I will create these and post them here before the challenge officially starts.)
  7. May 3, 2016 Breakfast: sourdough muffin buttered on one half with a slice of cheddar cheese, a slice of sausage, and a fried egg on it; 1 medium banana; 1 glass of Bolthouse Green Goodness juice Lunch: Oops! Forgot to eat lunch. Had a couple handfuls of candy as a snack. Dinner: apple with peanut butter, haystack (tortilla chips, ground beef, rice, beans, shredded cheese, sour cream, and lime juice) Snack: buttered popcorn
  8. Welcome to Taylara's Battle Log! You will notice a lot of editing of my posts in this thread. In order to try and keep up with this, I need to post things as soon as they happen. However, I also need to keep it all neat and compact. That means editing my post when I eat or workout. As of today (May 2, 2016) I weigh 209 lbs. I have high blood pressure, for which I am on medication, despite being only 33 years old. I get out of breath from walking briskly. I will be tracking all of my movement/activity and all of my food/liquid intake. I'm not going to be focusing on a specific diet at this point. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. However, I am going to try and follow my acupuncturist's rule of "Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper." May 2, 2016 Breakfast: sourdough muffin buttered on one half with a slice of cheddar cheese, a slice of sausage, and a fried egg on it; 1 medium banana; 1 glass of Bolthouse Green Goodness juice. Drank water in between meals. Had a root beer flavoured DumDum sucker. Lunch: can of Diet Pepsi, microwave meal (braised chipotle beef with mashed sweet potatoes, apple, slice of cheddar cheese). Drank water in between meals. Had a couple swallows of orange Gatorade and a Watchamacallit candy bar. Drank 2 Diet Pepsi sodas. Ate a small bowl of chicken noodle soup and 5 pieces of bread with butter. Exercise: Pushed the lawn mower back to my parents' house and then walked home (1/4 to 1/2 mile total).
