  1. Lies! We're attracted to your charisma and energy like moths to the flame.... or light bulb.
  2. I love your face. And awwwwwwww, Spezzy's making new friends
  3. It wasn't the sleep deprivation. This is still really fun. Tuesday I hit CrossFit thanks to a "I will workout today if you do" pact with Littlewings. I really wanted to skip. Wally thought it would be funny to do something "special" for tax day, so he added a burpee tax to the metcon. Le workout: Burpee Tax Part 1: Barbell Gymnastics EMOM for 8 minutes Clean (focus on knees out during setup) Part 2: Strength Alternate between A & B A: 5*3 back squats (3 second pause at rock bottom) B: 5*3 strict weighted pull ups Part 3: Metcon @ 5:42 21,15,9 Kb swings (32/24kg) @ 16 kg Toes to bar @ partials X=number of minutes elapsed. With the passing of each minute, stop your work and do x burpees. Then yesterday I went to gymnastics with Nightcrawler. It was vault day and we worked a lot on flopping from a handstand in various formats. We were also supposed to do handstand hops (to help bounce off a springboard eventually), but I... find that pretty difficult. Did the best I could with everything (as usual), but definitely have room for improvement in a lot of areas. I hate using my weight as an excuse, but I really feel like it limits my ability to be successful at some things and I can't help getting a little frustrated at times. At least I never let it stop me trying. Also, I don't know which part of the conditioning or whatever it was, but my hips are STIFF today. I'm going to have to warm up well tonight at CrossFit... maybe do some rolling and mobilizing. Alsooooooo, just for funsies, I decided I'd sign up for My Fitness Pal and track some days once in a while to see what I'm doing to myself and I was pretty amused by the difference between using a TDEE calculator to find my macros and what MFP recommended: Hmm.. yeah... I think... I choose the second one. K thnx.
  4. What did we even DO yesterday at gymnastics? My hips are so stiff today! Also, here's that macro calculator I was telling you has been recommended around chat.
  5. Sort of.... but more... running up and down lots and lots of stadium stairs. The workouts vary a little. This is a pretty good look at it: They also have a club in Denverrrrr >.>
  6. Basically "Ranger" workouts can be what you want them to be. I do CrossFit. Some people are Rangers because they run some days (Hey! Let's train for a 10K!) and lift heavy other days (Deadlifts, squats, and benchpress, oh my!). You could be... training for a Spartan or GoRuck Challenge. You could be doing a combination of Yoga, spinning and Parkour. Ranger workouts are whatever you want them to be. You're multi-class, my friend! Make it yours.
  7. You don't need background in gymnastics to learn skills and have fun trying! I don't have any background in it either (I grew up with basketball, swimming, and volleyball... and wasn't good at any of them), but I've been going once or twice a week to an adult gymnastics class with my friend for the last 6 weeks or so. Sure, I suck at a lot of things, but you just have to be willing to try and laugh at yourself (or at least not take it too hard) when you mess up. I'm having fun with it and if you ever have the opportunity to try, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go since it sounds like something you're interested in!
  8. So many people are already saying so many things... I prefer to hide and watch everything unfold.
  9. I like your choice in music, sir. I often have that song stuck in my head. Good job on the workout! Nothing wrong with starting easy and building up.
  10. I've been very lazy the last week. The only workout I've done recently is gymnastics. I'm planning on getting back in action this week. Maybe it'll help me sleep I started using Natural Calm late last week to see if it would help my sleep quality. Pretty much all winter I've been dragging when it comes to getting out of bed in the morning. I've never been like that. And it could be just a coincidence as obviously there are many other factors that could play into this, but I've been waking up around 4 am since I've been taking the magnesium. Usually I'm able to go back to sleep, but this morning that was not the case. 4:40 and 5:00 and 5:30 were not times that I wanted to see. I also don't know if I ate too late last night or what, but I'm feeling pretty gross. Might be time to stop eating like an asshole again. At least I got some yard work done this weekend? And started working on my tan? We'll see if I get a workout in tonight. I still haven't done my taxes, so that's first priority, but maybe I'll go for a run later. Also, sleep deprivation makes this really fun
  11. Have you really survived this long in Nerd Fitness and not known? I... don't know whether to cry for you or demand that you go watch it immediately.
  12. Every day Catspaw's like: And it's one of the many reasons I <3 her. Also one of the many reasons I lurk here.... /stealth
  13. A Cheechoe challenge? Makes me wanna dance!
  14. Nope, that's not close to Anchorage at all! I totally understand the spending time in Anchorage shopping before the school year though. We always went and did school shopping in August. I grew up in the Bristol Bay area. You'll definitely have to keep us updated on your travels through town! Hopefully we'll cross paths sometime What grade level(s) do you teach?
  15. I do what I want. I call everyone everything, but reserve some names for certain people.
  16. That's definitely the sort of stuff I'd be into. Color Runs, Shamrock Runs, maybe even a Spartan or something someday. Fun things
  17. ^ This It sounds like YOU'RE the one that needs to move. Obviously I don't have enough nerds in Portland, so why would I want to move somewhere else to be nerdless?
  18. Welcome, new Rangers! Hey, old-timers I'm not actually doing a challenge this time around, but I'll be sticking around for moral support and you know... pretending I'm wise and stuff. On that note, it seems like a couple people are worried about the possibility of birthdays/holidays/special occasions derailing them. My best advice is this: If you think that these occasions are the type that you'll feel like you're really missing out if you don't eat some sort of treat, plan for it. Nobody's perfect all the time (even our fearless leader has beer once in a while in his Paleo life) and if you make a conscious decision to allow yourself to eat off-plan once in a while, that's perfectly okay. If you're allowing for it, it doesn't have to detract from your goals as a whole. Also, it's not cheating. Cheating makes it sound bad. You're choosing to eat differently. That's all. No badness Good luck, Rangers!
  19. Uhhhhhhh. No. That's not on the list. If I have to move to the mid-west I'm going to Wisconsin to hang with Haikoo and ColdBoot and eat cheese.
  20. Thanks, Pookie. That gif just made me shudder a bit, but it was one of those "like watching a train wreck" things.
  21. For the ruck-curious, here's an official video for the GORUCK Challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snADi6oTlFw And another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk2LWZ3_7xg And BigM also has some pretty pictures from a Challenge and a few Lights (1, 2) that he has shadowed. I know other nerds have some photos around and these aren't the only Challenges/Lights that nerds have been involved with, his are just the easiest for me to access right now
  22. I've been starting to run a little, but it's not a for fun thing for me yet. I can do 2 miles alright... want to work up to 5K eventually so I can participate in fun runs. Those kind of events seem like they'd be a hoot. And yeah, if judging by some of the Scouts around here being excited for my starting to run says anything, I think I'm already aware that they're pretty supportive
  23. As some of you already know, my fearless companion and I will be heading back to Alaska at the end of May. We'll drive back from whence we came. Past the Sign Post Forest, through the Yukon and south toward Anchorage. I'll probably be to Anchorage the second week of June and flying out later that week. If any Anchorage nerds are around and want to meet up, I'd be eager to meet some of the Alaskan cohort! I'll probably also be seeking employment out in Anchorage come fall, so even if we don't get a chance to hang out in June, I'm sure we'll have other opportunities.
  24. My pile has slowly been getting bigger over the last month or two. I think it's pretty much at maximum capacity (because I don't have many clothes left to toss on it). At least you have yours in bags. My trash bags aren't big enough to fit much, so I haven't gone that route. The main pile in the corner is... probably 3 feet tall... and I didn't want it to get too precarious, so now I have piles on my desk. I'm... a mess.
