  1. Well that was a horrible weekend for diet for me. Lots of pasta and cakes/pies. :~
  2. Mine came with a few blades, but yes, you can frequently find blades at drugstore/pharmacy. Stuff like the "Lord" brand. These usually aren't as good as some of the others but the blades are really personal preference. That's why the sampler pack is a good choice at the beginning. And yes, I ordered my stuff from Amazon. You can find some vintage razors on ebay, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle, especially when I didn't really know what to get. The Edwin Jager DE89 is a pretty highly regarded "best first DE razor" which I of course didn't find out until later. I think the Merkur I have is pretty good too though. It seems that it's not bad for first timer's either, just some issues with the chrome flaking off over time. You might want to take a look at Mantic59's Youtube channel. He's got some really good video tutorials. I watched all of those before attempting to shave, as well as got a lot of information from http://www.reddit.com/r/wicked_edge, as I'm frequently on Reddit.
  3. Well, it's not too much to get into it really. I think I paid roughly the following: Razor ~ $20 Variety pack of blades ~ $20 Brush ~ $10 Soap ~ $5 So $55 dollars or so. The soap will last you ages, as will the blades. That variety pack was a 100 count pack. You can get a good 3-4 shaves per razor, depending on your beard thickness.
  4. HOLY CRAP! Just shaved with my DE razor. Wow. What the EFF was I doing ever using cartridge razors?! I'm sure I did a "terrible" job and my technique was probably dreadful, yet this was a pleasant experience and I did a pretty good job. I didn't cut myself and considering I was trying something completely new and for the first time, I'd say it's still better than some of my time consuming shaves using a cartridge razor. So... all in all. A major win!
  5. Well I didn't get around to that last night. Did do a bunch of audio stuff though.
  6. I'm going to go ahead an count this in with "trying something new". Hopefully I have less injuries than the motorcycle class. Though that's a toss up. I put some Crystal blades in, because I've got a ton of Feather brand blades, which are apparently ninja sharp. But I think I stress fractured my thigh bone in that crash. It's been a month and the bruising is still a bit visible and it is still sore. FML
  7. Yup. I think I'll shave tonight. This is the one I got. A Merkur 33C.
  8. Yeah, they had a 15% off sale on Friday at Guitar Center, and I was going to buy it anyways. I also got my new razor and blades and stuff. Ahhh yeah, DE Merkur, I'll be getting a shave as smooth as the 1920's.
  9. coffee/eggs for breakfast. Steak for lunch, more awesomer steak for dinner. Probably some broccoli too. Got to chapter 3 of the Paleo Diet. Thanksgiving, well.... I didn't eat too much so that's good. Picked up Serato Scratch Live on Black Friday. Saved about 110 dollars.
  10. I haven't read much of it yet, just a bit of the first chapter. It's well written, and I've found it pretty humorous and easy to read thus far.
  11. I just found this on the Kobo store and bought it for my kobo touch. Came out to about $7.50 with a coupon I found.
  12. Sweet. Just picked up "The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolf for my Kobo Touch. Found a 25% off coupon too, so it was only like 7 bucks!
  13. I second the 4 Hour Body. That's a great book, and quite a fun read actually.
  14. Well I haven't been doing the best. Did have some "burgers" for dinner last night, as in just the beef, but I did add a bit of cheese. Still, trying to not get caught up in the "perfect enemy" scenario. I had to clean my panini press/grill, which went fairly well. I had forgotten how awesome that thing is to use. Sure beats having to clean the same pan 3 times for a meal.
  15. Well we wandered off to the Nether and killed blazes in a fortress. Then made a portal out which dropped us pretty much in an ocean.
  16. Well... Minecraft got it's full 1.0 release on Friday, much procrastination was had.
  17. Did a bunch of dishes over lunch and made an actually pretty good meal. 2 pork chops (well 1, but butterfly chops), and some green beans.
  18. I'm shooting for a 2 minute mark song, with a sci-fi feel. Lots of synthesizers and pew pew noises.
  19. Actually, in looking up stuff for my Toastmaster's meeting, in which I was the "Toastmaster", I found that may or may not actually be a Mark Twain quote. At least there is not enough proof to attribute it to him. The audio stuff is indeed quite time consuming. A lot of this is just pesky perfectionism getting in the way, and because it's difficult to actually map out what you hear in your head. That and a lot of it is layering to give it a full bodied sound. A lot of times you can play your same sequence of notes at the exact same time spread over multiple octaves.
  20. Well I'm moving ahead on the 1hr of audio stuff a day. Slow going as it is though. One hour of work yesterday yielded me with 12 seconds of synths.
  21. Well poor on the Paleo yesterday. McDonald's boooooo! But it was 3am and I was super hungry. I have however, decided to buy some audio equipment instead of the Nokia N9. I'm pretty certain I will eventually buy one though. Perhaps after the holidays though.
  22. (Just saw this in the end credits of Minecraft. Fitting to this thread I think)
  23. I've got it and can be found under username "rpjunglist" but it doesn't run the best on my system, partly because of how horrible Origin is. God I hate that. I haven't probably played it more than twice since I bought it. Looks pretty though. I've mostly just been playing more CS:S, waiting on CS:GO.
  24. Had a pretty good dinner. Spinach, avocado, ground beef, bit of dressing.
  25. It sucks though, I made my lunch (salad w/ chicken & egg), and I packed the dressing & egg separately so it wouldn't get mushy, but I forgot it! I had to take my trash out in the morning and forgot to grab it. Well I put on nice shoes/outfit for my meeting today, and it was totally crap outside. I didn't realize until I'd already crossed the street. Once I remembered, I was like "fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu!" but said screw it. I ended up getting a Jimmy John's Unwhich, so it turned out okay. Pork chops are on the agenda for dinner. I was going to make them last night, but my friend is Jewish and I thought that would be a bit uncouth.
