  1. To go along w/ the initial post. When I was like 20, I had long (red) hair about 3/4 way down my back('88 I believe). I went to a ZZ-Top concert and w/ my dad, his wife #3 or #4 (can't remember) and some friends. After the concert, we went to this VERY non-metal bar. I am waaaaaaay outta my comfort zone. I pretty much just sat there and listened to the crappy dance music this place was playing. I did notice this one woman kept looking at me and talking to her friends. She wasn't bad looking so I thought "yeah you sexy bastard she wants your ass you're gonna score!!!" Later I walked by her table and she motioned me to come over. So I did. She then says, "you know you'd be really cute if you cut your hair." I replied "Really. Well, you'd be really hot if you lost like 80lbs, oh and lose the palm tree hair thing you got going. Unless you're Gene Simmons, it looks stupid!!!" Yes, the egos of that table just deflated and I went on to have my usual miserable time in a dance club until we left. Moral: 1) Don't give a shit what anybody else thinks. 2) Learn some really good come backs and keep them in your head at all times. 3) Don't be afraid to use said come backs. 4) Don't be afraid to raise the insult level by a power of a billion just to shut them up. 5) It's ok when you turn it back on them to just walk away, like a Boss!!! Embrace yourself, and realize that people do suck. No matter how hard you try, you're going to eventually run into a douche. Just keep getting better. Living well is a good revenge!!! (Unless you're Klingon, then "Revenge is a dish best served cold")
  2. I do a 3x5 routine doing the "4 biggies" (overhead press, bench, dead lift, squat). I've had stalling issues w/ my Overhead a few times. I've never maxed, but my last left was 130lbs at 3x5. One of the things the powerlifting team at the Univ. I work at suggested is using resistance bands on off days to really work the triceps. I usually do 4 sets of 10 on those on off days. Shortly after that my gains picked up nicely. Another accesory routine is the Arnold Press. It will work your delts all the way around, but mainly focuses on anterior delts. Since I've been doing those I've had pretty good gains. Of course this is just my 2 cents.
  3. I use them for accessory training on off days. Mainly to help w/ my overhead press. The powerlifting team at the Univ. I work at uses them in addition with weights, for lock outs.
  4. I was banned from working our family garage sales by my Mom. Yup...officially banned. I was forced to work it for awhile, so I wasn't in the best of moods. I might even have been a touch hung over, but I can't confirm or deny that. I had a person wanting an item that was unbelievably priced cheap. Well, they tried to negotiate the price down to an extremely low price. I told them, "it's already cheap." person: "I don't want to pay this (tag)price, I want to pay __ for it." Me: "It's alread cheap, either pay that price or don't" Them: "I said I don't want to pay that price" (insert arm movements and raised voice to get her way) Me: "EITHER PAY THAT FUCKIN' PRICE OR GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY YARD, AND IF YOU SAY ONE MORE FUCKIN' WORD, I'LL BLOW YOUR FUCKIN' HEAD OFF!!!" (I must say that I was like 21 and full of angst, did I mention hungover?) Enter Mom at the "blow our fuckin' head off!!!" part. They had 4 more while I lived there...I was excused from working them...SCORE!!!
  5. I think I have found the one I want!!! http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/alter-ego-comp-ss-x-men/pid1253880-710
  6. Whenever I consume tasty woodland critters, I always feel healthy!!! Specifically the ones I killed myself. Nothing better than tasty woodland critters!!!
  7. Well...now that the US and Mexico are out, so is my interest. I guess I'll wait till the next one whenever that is.
  8. It usually only happens at my area's Celtic Fest and at a Tartan Fest about 45 miles away. Then it's only for the few athelets that show up. So it's really more of a Highland Games expo than true games. They will let people do some of the events for "fun" but no competitions.
  9. Awesome!!! I wish we had some games down here other than the annual CelticFest.
  10. I do a modified version of SL, and when 5x5 started getting tough go complete I swapped to 3x5. Which is still what I'm doing and I feel I got more gains w/ 3x5. So if you're struggeling swap to 3x5 and give that a shot. I'm doing a 2 day minimal workout (Day 1: Bench & Deadlift. Day 2 Squat & Overhead) since I had to take a month off because of a pinched nerve and deloaded probably more than I should but I wanted to be careful. I can always work back up. If time permits, I do some accesory lifts too, mainly Arnold Press(to help w/ Overhead) and rows for back.
  11. Just saw these, if you like old English, you'll like some of these. http://www.spotmebro.com/store/index.php?route=common/home
  12. I so want the "Deadlift or Die" shirt from LBEB.
  13. In honor of my wife's heritage, I will be supporting Mexico!!! (only because Ireland isn't in it)

    Tires!

If you keep them outside, make sure you drill a couple small holes in them so water won't collect. This keeps the skeeters away. Skeeters bad and skeeters LOVE old tires because they hold water really good.
  16. I'm sure all of these have been covered at some point, but here they are in 1 convient article. http://spotmebro.com/benefits-of-squats/
  17. Thor (Chris Hemsworth). How can you go wrong w/ Thor??? Brad Pitt looks good in long hair (Interview With The Vampire, Troy)
  18. Crazily, I've never really wanted an AR until Pres. Hussein tried to ban them. Now, I guess just to piss him off, I want one. Also, being in Law Enforcement, I could actually justify having one...at least that's what I'm going to tell my wife!!!
  19. I know how ya feel, I've been a die hard Who Dat since 1983. I've been through my teams ups and plethora of downs.
  20. Isn't that called a Mullet??? Mullets are a definite "No NO".
  21. Well...you could always watch the Bucs get beat...I mean play the Saints in the Dome. Kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone.
  22. I'm coming off a pinched nerve in my arm, so I am doing something minimalist like you. Day 1 Deadlift & Bench. Day 2 Squat & Overhead (I also do Arnold Press to help w/ overhead press) I do 3x5 on all of them, except the Arnold Press which is 3x10. before I got hurt, I was doing those 4 plus a Pull up/Chin up combo on Day 1 and a Pendlay Row on Day 2. Once I get back up to speed I'll pick those back up again. I had to drop my weights on all my lifts and working really hard on form to get back to full strength.
  23. Of course if you like football, you could catch my beloved New Orleans Saints!!! Who Dat!!!
  24. I had hair down to the lower part of my back in the 80s & 90s. I cut it when I graduated College(per agreement w/ my Mom). I wish almost everyday I could have it back. However, being in law enforcement, I can't have it. Downsides: I'm strawberry blond and straight hair, so I got nearly every f'in day "You look like Axl Rose". Since I hate Axl it was a major downside. My hair had NO body to it, so it was either straight or ponytail. I live in Louisiana, summers 95+ w/ 95+% humidity, so you can figure that one out. Upsides: I'm a Metalhead, so the long hair was good for "hair slinging". It was long enough to get a really good windmill while playing my bass(slinging head in a circle) especially on "For Whom The Bell Tolls". The Metal chics loved the color because it wasn't blond or black. It would look really good if I wore it in a "partial ponytail" (high ponytail w/ hair hanging under the tail). I was easy to spot in a crowd. I got to sling hair w/ Dimebag Darrel and Phil Anselmo from Pantera multiple times before they made it big. I say go for it. If you don't like it, cut it. I've gone from short hair, long hair, shorter hair, buzzed hair, and no hair(shaved). If I could have it long like I did in the 80s, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
