  2. Glocks (or Crocks as I call them) have a grip angle that goes back to the German idea of shooting one handed and in a sideways position. Not really geared for combat. They had to retrain how to shoot them and hired thousands of retired police to teach the "new" way of shooting which if just to compensate for a mistake in handle angle. The Weaver or modified Weaver isn't geared for Glocks. Not to mention the mag release button where you have to turn the gun to hit it. Not that way on M&Ps or 1911s. This is also why you are seeing more and more police forces dropping Glocks and going to the Smith & Wesson M&Ps. M&P has a vastly superior trigger, and when you slam a mag in, the slide release kicks in and racks the gun for you. Which when you need a second, it's there for you, you don't have to rack it like in the Glock.
  3. Nice Klingon reference!!! BTW...North LA is sitting at 20f right now
  4. Right now, @ 1145pm in Louisiana, we're at 27f w/ windchill of 16f. Not as cold as y'all, but realize LA is in the South, like Deep South. Way colder than we're used to.
  5. Hell Yeah!!! My Grandfather's old WW2 1911 shoots just as good as my Springfield.
  6. You won't be sorry by going w/ a 1911. I have 2 and they are both awesome!!! (like I said before, 1 is a Springfield and 1 is my grandfather's WW2 issue) As for my plastic gun (aka, my duty weapon) I carry a Smith & Wesson M&P .40cal. I wanted to go .45 on this, but my department would have to special order rounds just for me, which would have been cool, but pricey. I don't like Glocks at all. They advertise "perfection" but they are on a 4th generation. If they are perfect, why a new gen?
  7. Cryosilver - I recommend the 1911. I consider it the worlds most perfect handgun. I have a Springfield M1911-A1, which is a copy of the Colt 1911. Works flawlessly. I also have my Grandfathers Colt 1911 he carried in WW2. It shoots just as good as the Springfield. .357 to me is an overrated caliber. Just upgrade to the .45acp. Remember, "A 9mm may kill the body, but a .45 kills the soul"!!!
  8. I finally tried to buzz my own head the other day. Surprisingly I did a good job. My wife, who usually does it, is probably going to make me do it from now on. I might need to re-think this. I shaved my head once for a convention. That was harder than actually buzzing it. Mainly because I was sporting my new Klingon headpiece and doing the bald Klingon thing. Took forever and haven't done it since. My wife shaved it a couple of times since, but mostly now I just buzz it.
  9. I want this one, from Lift Big Eat Big http://liftbigeatbig.spreadshirt.com/deadlift-or-die-A13689065/customize/color/366
  10. make sure you're not on toes either...should be on heels.
  11. http://www.anytimeleisure.co.uk/werksan-barbell-lifter.html Our powerlifting team has a couple of these in the gym. Not this brand and not exactly like this. But generally the same thing.
  12. This is funny!!! http://youtu.be/OloLS5kTrVs
  13. The advantage of living on 80 acres is I don't have to go far for a shooting range!!!
  14. near Ruston, I actually work in Ruston. It's dead center of North LA.

  16. If you school has a powerlifting team they may have a barbell lever (guessing that is what it's called). It'll lift the bar off the ground enough to slide the plates on/off easy. Ask the workers there. Unless you got "elliptical girl" working the weight room.
  17. That would be the end of my wife. She would move to a state that has cliffs (we don't have them in Louisiana) and jump off!!!
  18. I haven't chinned myself, but I have popped myself on the nose a couple times. Which is weird because I don't have a Jamie Farr nose. I have a cute little nose.
  19. There used to be a Metal band out of Enid called "Oliver Magnum". Have y'all heard of them and if so, what are they up to now?
  20. On of my friends on my University's Powerlifting team said that sometimes when you squat and you deadlift close to it, you're fatigued. Squats are using some of the same muscles as Deads, just differently. That happened to me Thur/Fri of last week. I went up 10lbs on squats, only doing 3x5 now on them. Next day I tried 295lbs on deads. I had done that same weight and did 2 sets of 5 and 1 set of 4 on Monday of that week. Fri I tried the same 295 and could barely get 3 on one set, 2 on the other and NOTHING on a third attempt. However, to make me feel better, I went up successfully on my Overhead press and Bench!!! With my bench, I had one of the Powerlifting team(who also works at our University's gym) spot me and he said "That dude next to you is doing curls in my racks...blow this out and show him up!!!

  22. Squirrels??? Them some big ass squirrels then!!! I use my Ruger 10-22 for squirrels, so much for not hunting w/ the dreaded "semi-automatic assault weapon".
  23. I used the Asics Dans back in the 80s when I wrestled in high school. I actually wore them several years after, they held up that well. So if they are as well made now as back then...you should be good.
  24. I have a real old Hoyt Super Slam, that I bought on consignment for like $150.00. I've put about that much into new equipment on it. I wish I had paid more attention, the guy said it was like a 60lb bow. Turned out it's like a 70-100lb bow. It gets really old practicing with it. One day I'm going to get a good 50-60lb bow for hunting. Like Uncle Ted said..."it's placement not poundage". I watch his show fairly regularly and I've seen he and his wife drop African game w/ 45lb & 55lbs bows (we're talking Kudu, Warthogs, Gnu) My advice...Aim Small....Miss Small!!!
  25. My wife is looking to get that new Ruger American Rifle in the shorter version. Most likely in 7mm-08. I've heard lots of good things about that rifle and it's WAY cheaper than Remington. Whitetails beware...your future is about to get "freezer cold"!!!
