  1. Oh man! Just looked at my duolingo weekly email and I was 4xp off my bonus target of 350xp last week!! Way over-shot it in week 1 though and I've had no trouble keeping my streak up
  2. Still chugging along with this challenge Sorry I haven't posted in a while, was a bit under the weather last week but back into the swing of things now! Food quest week 1 + 2 Tracked 9/14 days Skipped 2 days when I wasn't feeling well then kept forgetting to start filling it out again!! That's typical when starting a new habit though so I won't kick myself too much about it Average daily calories: Wk1 1767 (7% over), 102g protein Wk2 1728 (4% over), 85g protein So I get bonus points for <5% week 2 calories Hopefully I can up my protein a bit for the rest of the challenge...
  3. Bit tired today so rather than do my big weightlifting sess I did my first go at the rings muscle up progression and the grip routine. Had to go back to level one of the muscle up progression but I'm sure it shouldn't take long to move back up Been remembering to fill out MFP and do my duolingo every day, so meeting all my quest targets so far
  4. Welcome to the rebellion, good to have you! It's your first workout, which means it is way too early to stress about it! You did your first goal and got one of your two workouts done Plenty more time to add some extra distance during the rest of the challenge
  5. Good to see you are still here EG I didn't realise you had been active on here for so long, super impressive! Myself and a couple friends are making lightsabers as a arduino/3d printing project atm. I will totally be following any lightsaber related stuff with a ton of interest
  6. Exciting day today! So I hurt my shoulder a year ago - very old existing injury that caused problems since I was a beginner with bad snatch technique Been a long journey to get back to full depth snatching and heavy jerks BUT tonight I snatched 45kg, which is equal to my best from 2018 Also had a go at the grip routine, so that's one quest complete for week 1
  7. Scottish Gaelic I was trying to teach myself a few years ago with a book / online stuff but duolingo is much easier! It just came out in November, brand new course. This is my fav sentence from yesterday - anyone remember the underpants gnomes?
  8. Haha, don't have anything like that yet but making up a couple sandbags atm, looking forward to messing about with them!
  9. Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Very encouraging I am about 70kg atm and would ultimately like to be mid-60s, which will put me in low 20s bodyfat%. Hoping to weigh in at 68/69 for the comp (last day of challenge!), then I don't have to stress as the weight class is 71kg Food Quest - tracking my food intake MFP is set up at ~20% calorie deficit of 1650. I am going to track my food everyday. Bonus: hitting my weekly calorie amount +/-5% Double bonus: hit my weekly protein goal of 120g/day Strength Quest 1 - doing a grip routine I have got a basic grip routine off reddit r/griptraining which only takes a few minutes. For those interested it is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGuVJAj96SE I want to add it to the end of my workout 1 day/week with bonuses for additional sessions (no more than 3x weekly though, don't want to go overboard!) Strength Quest 2 - adding in gymnastic rings work I have the NF rings & handstands pack from way back when it first came out! I want to get back into the rings, focusing on the muscle up. This will be a fun way to help my (long-running) shoulder issues with the extra scapula exercises Like with the grip, aiming for once a week with bonus for multiple days Life Quest - keeping up my language learning with Duolingo My streak is 41 days atm, want to keep it going strong! Bonus: getting >350xp per week which is 5 lessons a day
  10. It's been two years since my last challenge, so I was pleased to log back in and learn about the 10th anniversary! Looking forward to checking out everyone's challenges Two years ago I started getting coached remotely in olympic weightlifting. At the same time, work got kinda crazy, so I didn't have the energy to do NF challenges as well as my lifting program. But now I am back with a new challenge! And I have officially made myself a Warrior instead of a Ranger! I am still prioritising weightlifting - my 3rd comp is on the final day of this challenge YAY - but next year I'm hoping to shift focus more to strongwoman, as that was why I started learning the olympic lifts in the first place. So my main goals on top of weightlifting 4xweekly are to drop my bodyweight a little and work on grip strength. (I have extra tiny hands...) A post with my quests to follow shortly
  11. Cool idea! I suppose I'm in the middle of a "cut" - taking a bit of a break from it this challenge before I push on, so this will be good for me. I've made an account and joined "The Rebellion"
  12. I'm the last gyffindor without a plank yet, I better get to it!
  13. I would keep doing it until you start stalling a lot. If it's taking you too long in the gym at heavier weights, drop down to 3 sets of 5 instead of 5x5. I did it for about 10 months. I could have kept going, but I was having trouble squatting heavy 3x a week and so was starting to get tired and miss workouts. I still did linear progression on press / bench / deadlifts, but for squats did one light volume day, one front squat day and finished the week with a high intensity, heavy squat day. That was a good amount of volume without tiring me out too much. I was also eating a surplus at the time, which no doubt helped. I gather everyone has very different levels of how much they can handle, it can be a bit tricky to figure out what works for you...
  14. 92% AND you updated week 1 promptly - surely that is better than "can't complain" Good luck with the rest of week 2 and the easter weekend!
  15. This week has been a little crazy since my SO has been doing even longer shifts than me and nobody's home to do the housework Time for a points update to keep me on track! Food - has been going really well. It's been consuming time, but I've just told myself to keep going So far we haven't been resorting to takeaway or anything, and I spent yesterday doing this week's meal plan & shopping trip +7 points Lifting - have done the full week so far, though I had to cut a couple sets out of my last session so I didn't go to bed too late! +3 points Walks - did one on monday, took advantage of nice weather. But there won't be any time for it the rest of the week unfortunately +4 points Violin - on sunday I picked a piece (off youtube for something different), but didn't get much practice time. I guess when you don't get a violin out for a while it decides to be difficult. The strings were loose, but the bridge came off when I tightened them. It's still in one piece though, will hopefully be fine from now on!! +7 points Total: 14 + 7 + 12 + 7 = 40 points I think the main thing I should remind myself to do is get the violin out again before sunday...everything else should just happen
