  1. Hah! I would like the Three-finger Hobb’s Breakfast please; black pudding, hard-boiled eggs, and stewed apples with prunes
  2. Week of 04/30 to 05/06 DIET: Switch to Paleo diet completely, 24x7. >>> A bit of non-paleo stuff like mayo inside shrooms, bleu cheese with wings and taco-strips in salad. Reduce sodium intake under 1500 mg a day >>> Done Mandatory breakfast, lunch and dinner missed proper breakfast once/twice, had bananas and eggs No coffee at any time, control black tea intake to 1 cup per day. >>>Done No beer at any time, hard liquor less than 60 ml, once a week. >>>One beer pint on weekend, mostly wine, 2 pours of margarita Minimal consumption of milk. Whey protein intake after every workout regime >>>half glass of 1% milk with whey on 3 days Supplementary consumption of Acetyl-L Carnitine pills to boost metabolism, regular meds to lower blood pressure. irregular intake of both pills WORKOUT: Different muscle groups workout Mon: Legs and Shoulders - 1 hour Wed: Chest and Triceps - 1 hour Fri: Back and Biceps - 1 hour Cardio Swim/Run: 8 miles of running (7 mph) OR 4 miles of running (7 mph) with 2 miles of swimming (1.2 mph); per week Did 8.5 miles at 7 mph over the week and did all weight sets LIFESTYLE: Sleep at least 8 hours daily (Weekdays: 11 pm to 7 am). 7 hours on 2-3 nights Only office work related tasks between 9-30 am to 12-30 pm, 1-30 pm to 6-30 pm on weekdays Social networking, news, google reader, fitness forums access banned in above mentioned hours failed miserably, could focus entirely only on 1-2 days
  3. 2 May Switched to salads for lunch/dinner to avoid the spicy curries I was having for past 2 days, will help bring down my body heat. The HR lady brought a blueberry cake which sure is tempting, I try to avoid to look at it when I visit the kitchen. Shop n Stop carries just one dressing "Romano Caesar' with a two-digit Sodium content. 76 mg per serving. 2.5 miles run completed. Strength building going smooth. Work productivity hasn't improved much, maybe lack of caffeine's the cause. Should give my body some time to adjust.
  4. Hey, have you trained for Yoga? I would love to add that in my schedule, but don't know where to start! Keep up the good work!
  5. I loved the part about reading 4 books in 6 weeks!! How are you gonna manage that?? Let me know the titles of the ones you loved
  6. PALEO Anyone? Here's some recipes I tried for breakfast... > Saute garlic flakes on olive oil, add mushrooms and potato fritters. Sprinkle salt-pepper when done. > Microwave minced cauliflower for 4-5 min. More suggestions appreciated!
  7. 30 Apr & 1 May DIET goals: Main issue I face is at breakfast every morning. Can't eat the pancakes, cereals, biscuits lying in the house. Till the time I get time to buy eggs, I am making my own Paleo recipes. > Saute mushrooms and potato fritters over olive oil and garlic, sprinkle salt-pepper > Mince cauliflower florets and microwave them for 4 min. Add salt-pepper. FITNESS goals: 1 mile run + Legs-shoulders done LIFESTYLE goals: slept 8 hrs, but still having difficulty focusing at work, drowsy with mild headache. Probably due to lack of coffee and my tonsils are acting up.
  8. Hah! Jon and Theon's characters are developed superbly!
  9. I did a six week Paleo before... I did not touch beer, but had to make do with hard liquor shots or wine... It's very tough to be off any kind of alcohol, especially when the social scene demands :/ I am jealous you can at least grow a proper mustache, I am not so blessed with dense facial hair
  10. Thanks bro! I don't know if this would be a compliment, but your profile pic makes you look so much like THEON GREYJOY!! Prepare to be SHOCKED in the storm of swords! I was in rehab for a month
  11. Oh yes, But beware, it's highly addictive, might mess up all the other goals you have set! Thanks for the encouragement! I took cue from your post Loren, perfectly organized it was! Let's work together! Indeed! For I am the Sword in the Darkness, the Shield that guards the realm of men! Thanks a ton! It was and is, so damn hard to say NO!!
  12. The War is coming... The Battle at the fields of Alluring Tiramisu has been won, not a single slice has been eaten! The hardest goal would be to refuse most of the food my roommate's mother is gonna cook once she comes to stay with us the next week...
  13. Thanks Viking! There are these insanely alluring Tiramisu cake chunks lying in my refrigerator and I chose not to touch them... The war has begun!
  14. Story I'm the true-born heir of the Starks and Targereyens, part-wolf-part-dragon-blood, rising up from the Valyrian Ashes to defend the living world from the White Walkers. Okay, okay, I am just another long-hours-desk-job guy afflicted with ailments like fatigue, constipation, lack of focus and high BP; all at the age of 26. But I plan to change all that... I did participate in the last challenge, and didn't do too bad (lost 8 lbs instead of 10), but this time, I will outperform myself! 16. I haven't achieved 10 lb loss, though I did start following my goals a week late. So far I am 7 lb down.
  17. Guys, I have this one HUGE problem I need help with. See, my stomach is like a black hole.. I am mostly Paleo throughout the week and eating such exotic healthy veggies that would make my mom cry with delight. But I have this depressingly SLUGGISH METABOLISM, aided by my sedentary lifestyle that doesn't process all that food well. How do I get it up and running? Any pills you guys could suggest to get my digestive tract working full steam?? ** no pun intended** My friend talked abt Acetyl-L Carnitine and Culturelle doing him good... Has anyone used these and found helpful?
  18. WHoa, I should have a hidden a time capsule myself! Must be fun to read... I started following my agenda a week later than Apr 5, so I am allowing myself leeway to achieve my goals in two more weeks. But will try to hit the much awaited 180 lb mark (10 lb down from 190) by the end of this week! CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP VEGGIES~!
  19. I could live up with that excuse when I was a grad student 2 years back... Can't imagine why the prospect of free food still delights me when I am working and earning To add fuel to my misery, one of my roomies returned from his home country and brought a truckload of snacks and sweets! The only solution is to stay away from the kitchen!!!
  20. last weekend was a total failure with the diet. WHY DO I FIND IT HARD TO SAY NO TO FREE FOOD?? First, there was this event on campus that had no paleo friendly food item, then a friend called over for dinner and half the dishes were non-paleo.. I hope the two days of extravagance haven't nullified the success of weekdays.. The victories: NO to office lunch outings! NO to the cheesecake lying in the refrigerator NO to the free friday bagels and cream cheese at work Cooking every other day as roomies cook rice/legume items On the exercise front, 3 days of muscle workouts are going swell! But the swim sessions have died down...
  21. My friend's husband cooked the world's awesomest chicken biryani ever for her birthday, so I could not refuse that over the weekend.. (For the ignorant, biryani = rice product) But I consistently refused all other offerings and made them cook separate veggies for me over the weekend, so feeling a tad guilty about it. At the Thai place, I refused rice with the fisherman's madness (which set my guts on fire as a result). And strict No to beer, though i had multiple shots of tequila, kamikaze and LITs. All in all, I am at least 6-8 lbs down in 3 weeks, so I berate myself for setting too easy a goal!
  22. I have just discovered I am not a "forum" person... I had no clue what I was getting in when I wrote that blog, it was just another journal entry... But now I have my own squad and I am a HERO! <ecstatic face> Btw, if anyone is an ardent fan of GRRM books or the HBO series, I am Stark+Targareyen = Stargareyen! So double potential of being a rightful heir to the Westeros Throne! In reality though, I am a 26 yr old male software engineer at a fun startup in NJ .. My prime reason for being here is I want to have six-pack abs at least once in my life and my insatiable love for all kinds of food doesn't help me on that front! I wanna flaunt a chiseled torso **someone's ROFLing in my head** on the beaches this summer, and this time, I am dead serious! Also, it would be a add-on if I get my blood pressure down for which I am on/off pills for last 3 years (( I am a mountain air junkie, but life's turned too busy to do treks these days, so I might as well work out.. I'll let you in on a secret, I HATE GYMS since HIGH SCHOOL! Never been too overweight, maybe because I had a lower back problem, which made me visit the dreaded places occasionally. But I gained 10 kgs over a year, and I decided enough is enough!! So here I am... Summer is coming...
