  1. OK, I just started "11/22/63" by Stephen King. It's not my typical read but my mom LOVED it and has been begging me to read it, so I'm checking it out.
  2. Oh oh oh, I can help with the hair! I have a hair fork (like this), and the easiest way to do it is to make sort of a loose bun. You push the fork up through the bottom, then sort of flip it around and push it back down. Voila! This video shows how. Oh, and some people love the Flexi-8, though I've never been able to make them work for me.
  3. Welcome, fellow Michigander!! Have you tried meds, since this seems to be something you've been fighting for a while? Pretty much my entire maternal family struggles with some degree of anxiety or depression, and they've made a world of difference for me.
  4. There's actually a guy who did a great Google Spreadsheet that calculates your weight trend. I've used it and really like it! https://medium.com/technology-liberal-arts/the-data-diet-how-i-lost-60-pounds-using-a-google-docs-spreadsheet-80adce62cf5c#.gf3noy4rs
  5. Still sore from Saturday's workout! Didn't get up early enough to do one Monday morning (curse my news feed!), but did do a light cardio last night despite having a barfy kid (now 3/3 on that score). I'm counting it a win.
  6. Owwww, your poor back! Aren't you too young for that sort of thing?!
  7. Oh, Jason Momoa .... Why can't you have a fetish for 40-year-old legal assistants?
  8. Wow, that has to be a crapton of veggies! How many by volume do you eat per meal?
  9. Sounds like you're doing great! (Also,m have you asked your doctor about rhinitis of pregnancy? It's a real thing!) One thing that helped me when I got hand-me downs was to get get a bunch of different big plastic tubs and label them with each size. Sort as you get clothes. Then when baby moves up a size, just open the new tub!
  10. Thanks, @weaver! It really was. Not every guy is man enough to date a mom, but I'm confident there's someone out there who is! (This video is one of my favorites and really sums my thoughts on the topic!) KILLED IT TODAY! Went jeans shopping with a girlfriend (bought a phenomenal pair, and they're even long enough!), then we hit the gym together. I got a killer workout in (cardio and full body weights), then came home and added on a FitnessBlender butt workout. Gotta fill out those new jeans Beer Fest tonight!
  11. Agree that a proper running store can give you the best recommendation ... everyone's feet and running style are so different, and even the type of trails you have (sandy vs rocky, for example) might make a difference. A lot of good ones even have 30-day return policies.
  12. You are SO not a failure. You gave it a shot, it wasn't healthy for you and you decided to do something else. I'd say it would be a much worse choice to continue doing something that made you feel miserable. I honestly DO think that that is a very low calorie goal. I am about the same weight as you (157.5 currently) and get less activity and eat MORE. Granted, everyone is different, but I would try aiming for at least 1,500 and seeing how you do.
  13. Feeling about 80 percent today (though I didn't bother with makeup, which makes me look about 40 percent, lol). Did manage to get in a VERY tiny workout this morning -- just some pushups, a plank, and a little cardio. Hope to be able to get a bit more in tomorrow, and also catch up on the housework I've been neglecting!
  14. Nothing was crushed, dented or otherwise altered. I'm the sick on today. Boo. Plus side, I'm 2 pounds under my mini goal, though it's probably dehydration.
  15. I'm sorry to hear your news. Let us know how the surgery goes! When my kiddos were very little and I needed to get a workout in, I had the best luck with videos (I like Fitness Blender for harder ones and Jessica Smith for lighter ones -- both are on YouTube). Going for a walk and pushing a stroller, especially if it's a hilly area and you're moving fast, can also help (weather permitting). But it also sounds like, as @Sylvaa said, you should try to focus on just maintaining SOMETHING for now.
  16. It's not been the easiest week -- big career decision, end of a (thankfully short) relationship last night and two barfy kids, second one of which was pretty much all last night. I've just finished scrubbing the bathroom with bleach and am going to nap while Barfy McSickerson watches some videos. Then I will hopefully crush my workout. Or at least dent it slightly.
  17. I'm not even a lefty -- I just hold my pen in a super bizarre way. But resources for lefties are a great idea!
  18. I have gotten into bullet journaling lately, but I'm definitely fairly prosaic about it. I bought a fancy journal with beautiful paper at first ... only to find that my favorite pens smeared terribly on it! Now i use a yellow steno book that we have by the hundreds at work, and it works great. Not gorgeous, but functional.
  19. Ellie Krieger also had a show on the Food Network, and you can find a lot of her recipes there at http://www.foodnetwork.com/chefs/ellie-krieger/recipes.html ... you can also find them on her personal site.
  20. No workout scheduled for today, but I DID get through level three of the Headspace app! (Which is pricey, but I LOVE it.) And I know NF isn't big on weight, but I AM within .2 pounds of my first mini-goal weight. Wooot!
