    Interesting contradiction, and yes, I am in the same dilemma. :)

    What is your definition of "crap to take care of"? If you are keeping something just in case you need it later, does this something still count as crap? Or is there a difference between things that are crap, and things that could be useful down the line?

    Yeah. Those parts of my brain don't talk to each other rationally, lol.

    I think "crap to take care of" is all the stuff that I keep in storage and don't actually use. Figuring out what would be useful down the line is probably the cognitive load that I'm avoiding doing hehe.

    What are your main Hope's for the declutter? Idk if you go on the full Konmari, but she brings up even if you don't know where your moving next the ideal life you hope for?

    I know that has helped me get started... am working on this week on getting laundry caught up and all my clothes a temporary home as I work on making space for my dresser that hasn't been moved.

    Mostly I want to not feel like I have so much crap to take care of. I want to be lighter.  This move is starting over in a lot of ways, and I don't want to let me stuff drag me down.

    Decluttering is something I really struggle with. I don't know if it's a side-effect of being force to leave most of my belongings behind when I moved to the US, but it is extremely difficult for me to get rid of things. The longer I have had them, the more difficult it becomes to get rid of it, and as a result, things accumulate in boxes and corners.

    Do you know what your struggle with decluttering is? Tackling the root cause might help you get started.

    That makes so much sense, Scaly Freak.

    I think I have similar side effects from when my parents divorced and we left with just a car full of belongings. My father threw everything else into the barn to rot. Didn't realize that that was still affecting me. Great question.

    I think I'm also keeping things so that I have them "just in case".

    Joining you on this!

    Trying to declutter/tidy my bedroom as it is shaped differently and will hold all my precious items instead of an entire apartment for a bit!
    And also feel you on the move, mine is 90 miles over cross country...  but I hope the snow waits for you a bit this year.

    Where in MN you moving to? (Feel free to not answer... I have just moved to the metro area).

    There totally wasn't an issue of the frogs because I kept trying to find Headmistress's card...

    Good, I need some motivation and accountability with the decluttering. I'm still 0/0 with that one. 😕

    I'm moving 1200+ miles! I just looked it up right now. Wheee!

    I'm moving into the metro area too!!!!

    Dear Professor Annyshay,

    Things are good down in the Hufflepuff common room. 💛 We heard a rumor about a shed full of chocolate frogs.  Can we get our hands on those? They make great fertilizer for the Amoricus  bushes.

    Prefect Tank,

    Please meet with Groundskeeper Snarky at your earliest convenience to discuss the removal of the chocolate frogs. May your bushes grow lustrously!

    Professor Annyshay,

    On behalf of everyone in House Slytherin, our heartfelt thanks for your assistance with the chimney situation. Our common room is comfortable again.

    I feel obligated to apologize for the immature prank played yesterday by the two Slytherin students who store a couple of pet toads, and enchanted them to look and act like chocolate frogs. That kind of pettiness is unworthy of House Slytherin, and I assure you the students in question have been disciplined.

    Scaly Freak,

    Slytherin Prefect

    Prefect Scaly Freak,

    You are most welcome. Thank you for continued diligence and discipline. I'm just glad that the pet toads in question were not destroyed, or worse... eaten.

  6. Dear Denizens of Hogwarts,

    The situation with the chimney in the Slytherin common room has been rectified, however Filch will be moving slower than usual for the forseeable future. I would like to remind all students, staff, and professors that Professor Hagrid's Blast-Ended Skrewts are not meant to be handled outside of the classroom by students and certainly do not belong in enclosed spaces.

    Below find a report on your progress this last week.

    Gryffindor - No breathwork happened.

    Hufflepuff - I did great with this and restocked my supplies at work. Going really well.

    Ravenclaw - Kept up my daily streak and did a lot more than that.

    Slytherin - No decluttering yet.

    Be good to each other, Professor Annyshay.

    Well, I use cards in a weird way.  I consider whether the drawn card is something that I want or don't want in my life.  Do I want more or less of it? What should I do to make that happen? And if I have the right amount, is there anything I can do to keep it that way?

    I have several recurring cards that cause me to stop and evaluate whether I'm guarding too much and need to be more open-hearted (2 of swords) and to remember my blessings and how far I've come (10 of cups).  But if I had to choose a favorite,  it would be the Queen of Cups.  She's the one who you go to with a problem or a story, who always says "sit down at the kitchen counter and tell me all about it. I'll get you something to eat, and if you want advice I'll give it."

    Love it!

    Thanks! How long have you worked in hospitals and what do you do? The hospital is definitely not my natural habitat. Lol.

    I'm an infectious disease doctor, and I've been in hospitals for about... 12 years, though I work in clinics also, so it's not all the time.

    Spoiler

    Hi, I'm Professor Annyshay. I've been with NF since 2012.

    I have a darling cat that doesn't know that he's 12 years old. His name is Dragon. He's an orange tabby.

    I developed an eating disorder and had to pump the breaks on a lot of the aspects of Nerd Fitness. Healing and health have looked very different for me since I was diagnosed, but I still love this community and the support that it offers in making healthy choices. That said, you will not find intentional weight loss (IWL), weighing, or calories on my thread.

    I practice intuitive eating. Movement is a choice. Mindset work is foundational for me as I move forward in the world.

    I'm moving cross country back to Minnesota at the end of October. I can't wait for a fresh start with my job.

    It makes sense to return to Hogwarts because wherever I may roam, Hogwarts is my home.

    Hello witches and wizards, and welcome back to Hogwarts this September! I'm Professor Annyshay, the current headmistress of Hogwarts. You've been sorted into your houses and are ready to tuck into a delicious feast. Now it's time for me to say a few brief words before we start the term. This year the houses will be working together to support general wellbeing.

    Gryffindor = Breathwork

    It takes courage for me to be present in my body without trying to change anything. Breathwork can be anywhere from 5-30 minutes. I'm aiming to do it most days of the week.

    Hufflepuff = Snacks

    I ten to skip snacks and go too long between meals and then get a bit shaky. I'm going to be more intentional about aiming to have a morning and afternoon snack.

    Ravenclaw = Writing

    I'm trying to get back into the habit of creative writing, but this will start with keeping my streak on 4thewords.com. That means writing 444 words a day.

    Slytherin = Decluttering

    Since I'm moving across country, I need to be ruthless with my possessions and get rid of the things that don't truly bring me joy. I'm going to try to do at least 15 minutes of decluttering each day.

    More details will come as you go through your time here, but for now... let's eat!

    - mindset pack/morning ritual (some joy journaling, some witchery, and some intention setting)

    - movement is currently on the back burner due to high resistance and stress levels

    - used my Best Self Journal - gratitude and setting targets for the day

    - ate my meals and had an afternoon snack

    - played Terraforming Mars online in the evening

    This is about where I'm at baseline at the moment. I'm excited to jump in with the next challenge, but not sure what goals I actually want to work on. My resistance levels are so high that it's hard to make even little changes at the moment. Seems weird to start a maintenance challenge right after coming back. I'll keep noodling on it.
