  1. Hello Friends!

     

    I'm back and excited to get into the swing of things. It looks like a new challenge will be starting up in the not too distant future, so I may jump back into the fray then.

     

    Let me give you a little recap of some of the things happening in my world.

     

    I've quit my current job and will be done with work here on October 22nd.

    I've got a new job back in Minnesota that will be starting on November 30th.

    My spirituality has shifted in a massive way. 

    My mental health has been under serious strain.

    My health team has expanded to include a nutritionist. 

    I also worked with Bri Campos for a while on my body image.

    I'm still firmly in the intuitive eating camp.

    Movement continues to be a struggle.

     

    That's the short version. 

     

    What's going on with all of you?!?! I've missed you.

  2. So... maybe daily updates are more than I want to do at the moment. If I'm not doing them when I'm on vacation, that's probably unlikely to happen when I go back to work, right? Right.

     

    Week One Update

    Health Team

    Therapy

    - we talked a lot about body image and some of the deeper stuff underneath it

    - brought up the idea of trying to figure out how I feel safe in myself and in relationships

     

    Nutrition

    - eating enough snacks

    - cooking about once a week

    - body grief workbook

    - call went well and we worked through the first exercise in the workbook

    - goal for Tuesday is to work through the second exercise in preparation for our call

     

    Coach

    - mindset : anger expression - did this twice and felt good about it

    - mindset: "what can I learn as I hold this?" - this is coming up more recently because I'm getting anxious about going back to work

    - mindset: gratitude for my foot - forgot this for a few days, but doing pretty well

    - movement: PT exercises - starting to get a lot of resistance to doing these

    - movement: mindful movement - 2 minutes - some resistance here as well

     

    Positive Connections

    - doing really well here, honestly

    - joined a few more supportive online communities

    - I think I'm maxed out on my communities at the moment, time to pour into them

     

    Creative Fun

    - also pleased with this

    - have a new idea that I've been discovery writing with

    - second novel is waiting until I start edits mid March

    - did my full day of PT exercises 

     

    Positive Connections

    - updated my challenge

    - chatted on discords

    - connected on voxer

     

    Creative Fun

    - not sure

     

    W1D3 - Tuesday

     

    Health Team

    - sent my foot some gratitude

    - did my light day of PT exercises (supine IT band stretch, calf stretches, and towel toe scrunches)

    - met with my RD and talked about how food and body image are going (pretty good, actually)

     

    Positive Connections

    - chatted on discords

    - connected on voxer

     

    Creative Fun

    - put on a NaNo virtual write in and free wrote a bit

    For this at the moment, I'm doing System of a Down, lol. I am open to basically any kind of music but have been tending towards indie, folk, and other things that aren't exactly angry lately. 

  5. Anger Expression

    So, this is something that I'm working on because I have a really hard time allowing myself to feel angry. We've turned it into a ritual that I can work on doing in a safe space to practice. So, basically, I listen to ~20 minutes of angry music (suggestions welcome). This time I then wrote a F&*$% you letter to my boss about all the things that I would say if there were not consequences. Then I listed out all the things that I need in that relationship (which I'm not currently getting). Then I put on some calming music and close the time.

  6. W1D1 - Sunday

     

    Health Team

    - cooked some pasta, nom

    - worked on anger expression (see separate post for details)

    - sent my foot some gratitude

    - did my light day of PT exercises (supine IT band stretch and towel toe scrunches)

     

    Positive Connections

    - put up an NF challenge

    - cheered some rookies

    - chatted on discords

    - connected on voxer

     

    Creative Fun

    - did a little challenge on the WB discord

     

    Not a bad day one at all!

    Work has been... bad. I'll type up an update at some point. I'm looking for new jobs though.

  8. Creative Fun

    I finished the first draft of my second novel this last week!!! So I'm going to give the story about a month to sit and rest before I dive into editing. That means that I have time to play around with other forms of creativity. Maybe I'll write some poems or short stories or mess around with other types of creativity.

    I am very lonely during this pandemic since I moved fairly soon before it and didn't have time to make local friends before everything was locked down. This means that I'm leaning on online communities.

  10. Health Team

    I am working with my therapist (Taylor), nutritionist (Rebecca), and coach (Amy) to try to heal and take excellent care of myself. I'll report in on the homework that they give me as we go forward.

    - working on trying to do nice things for myself when I get stuck in a shame spiral

    It's kind of a lot when I write it out like this, but it's lots of small choices to take care of myself that we've been working on for a long time. This is the biggest focus of my challenge.
