  4. Then they weren't running/cycling on the right trail, and it's only injury causing if you're not doing it right. You don't train for a bicycle century with sprints (although they can be part of that training).
  5. As far as the cycling world goes "mileage counts" - I fail to see why running would be different.
  6. That would imply the stores near near sold anything other than all purpose flour or I could actually find the time to gather, treat, and grind enough acorns to make flour. (I know how it's just a HUGE pain in the backside, and very time consuming.)
  7. Namaste group, after pulling another disappearing act from the NF forums, I'm back, actually doing some scouting this go round. (Challenge link is in my signature).
  8. 8 hours and 28 minutes (couch night). I thought I hit snooze when the alarm went off at 05:00 but I must have turned the alarm off. Next thing I know they wife was shouting at me that it was already 07:00, and I had only 30 minutes to get dressed, pack work clothes (I don't wear my work clothes while cycling to work), walk the dog, make and pound a cup of coffee, and then get out the door to head to the totalitarian capitalist dystopian hell I work at. (The job isn't that bad, it's just dealing with used car dealers on the phone all day really sucks.)
  9. SLAP!!!!!! Dude, I trained in Taijiquan initially by watching videos, and then recording video clips of myself practicing and sending them to Sifu for feedback. When you can't bring yourself to the kwoon (dojo), bring the kwoon (dojo) to you. It can be done
  10. Since all "flour" is made from wheat unless otherwise specified, did you mean whole wheat flour? (Hmm, potato or acorn flour pancakes could be interesting).

  13. Same here, now that we've figured out how to make them from scratch. I will never, ever, ever use a mix again. (Although I may invest in some buckwheat flour.)
  14. BISQUICK in the US 99% of all pancakes are made from a mix like Bisquick.
  15. Nooooooo!!!!!!!! You'll make us disappearing folk look bad as a group.
  16. 6 hours 29 minutes last night. Fell asleep on the couch and started snoring, woke up to actually get into bed, got kicked back out to the couch by the wife for snoring an hour later. Also, the new puppy snores as well.
  17. Good luck, and my wife just found a new from scratch pancake recipe that is absolutely wonderful
  18. While an actual teacher is always best, you can definitely start with videos, then try to find some workshops in your area to get feedback.

  21. Hola scouts, I normally take my challenges with the Druids or Monks, as I'm into yoga, tai chi, and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) however, I have always loved cycling. After several years of being off the bike following an accident I'm finally riding again. Therefore I'm doing a bit of a non-challenge challenge. The goal is simply to bike commute back and forth to work each day for the length of the challenge, which includes not breaking down to take the city bus in inclement weather. It's app 5.4 miles each way for the commute unless I add in some extra errand running. I will be posting the ride maps for the length of the challenge.
  22. Howdy scouts. I'm a druid/monk type, that just happens to love bicycling. I had to give up cycling back in 2009 after a hit and run messed up my lower back. I've finally started cycling again, as my work commute - it's 5.4 miles each way from my place to work, so I'm logging between 40-50+ miles weekly.
  23. I've already had to put a few dents in cars with my monkey fist keychain when the alpha hotels have come into the bicycle lane. I travel on some high traffic roads:
