  1. Hai Lachy Yeah, it's not much of a challenge this time around! But I knew it going in -- a repeat of all my venting to you and Pat last summer about the woes of balancing my schedule when my parents are visiting. I haven't even planted my garden, let alone making it to the gym as often as I'd like. So form and fun is the name of the game. And not eating crap that bloats the belly! OY guys. I need to vent for a moment....I love my parents. But I'm really having a hard time this visit; they don't stay with me and my mom is really hardcore that if I have plans with friends no worries, but I realized yesterday that I kind of secretly resent the best part of every summer weather-wise being taken up by family obligations. But thank goodness I finally figured out what was making me so crabby; now I can make the logical part of my brain deal with it So...no gym this week. Ate at chain restaurants and feel icky. Abs are coolio but arms are dwindling rapidly, heh. Super annoyed at my driver's side left arm tan. How's that for an update, ha.
  2. Oh i forgot! There was a Rob doppleganger camping. No joke, I did a major doubletake the first time I saw him. I could only get one sneaky photo though. We called him Hippie Rob all weekend after first calling him The Dancing Guy - everywhere we went he was dancing.
  3. Oh man, my quads hurt through the weekend, hahaha, started going away just in time for more squats I haven't been able to get into the gym as much as I'd like lately so I've been doing whatever is the most fun at the moment to just maintain form, not as concerned with increasing numbers until my schedule evens out -- high volume on upper body is hella fun I've discovered. Weirdquark gave me a bunch of information a bit ago too, so I'd been working more volume days in.
  4. Soooo busy at work! Internet was out at home until yesterday so I was limited to my phone for all NF fix needs. Totally didn't even post my last workout; haven't had time to get back to the gym since as my parents are in town earlier than expected- eeeek I have not enough hours! Monday 6pm Squats 45# x 5 55# x 5 60# x 5 x 5 griiiiindy on a few near the end OHP 45# x 8/5/4/0/1 arms died. Pretty sure that was a PR for reps at that weight had to leave to meet the parents, so PainBalling in the sauna then shower quick then on my way!
  5. Rob! That's awesome Soooo busy at work! Internet was out at home until yesterday so I was limited to my phone for all NF fix needs. Totally didn't even post my last workout; haven't had time to get back to the gym since as my parents are in town earlier than expected- eeeek I have not enough hours! Pretty sure that was a PR for reps at that weight had to leave to meet the parents, so PainBalling in the sauna then shower quick then on my way! Camping was awesome, definitely going back next year. Woke up Saturday to an inch of water pooled in the corners of my tent-- I totally hadn't realized my rainfly failed completely until I got out of my down sleeping bag that had absorbed gallons overnight and kept me dry. It rained so hard overnight some tents in the center of the park were uprooted and tons of people had items floating. Sunny during the days though! My quads were SO SORE all weekend! Sheesh. Back home, slept instead of cleaning up my yard. Power had only been out for half a day or so, so no traumatic half cow discarding needed, phew. Worked all week, crazy busy, then yesterday spent the day with my parents (I wanted to nap sooooo badly) before seeing my friends' band last night. They played with a hip hop group from California that looked semi-thug but sang about kombucha and love. So much fun to watch.
  6. These guys, I think you will dig: http://luminariesmusic.com/ Hip hop about kombucha.... oh yes.
  7. Um, aren't Minnesota kids supposed to be in skates by four months?! Window contractor? Not storm damage I hope? You are doing awesome, by the way! And happy belated!!!
  8. Maybe it would be easier if you just uploaded photos of your workouts.....
  9. Whoopsies, I didn't finish that post above and don't remember now what smartass things I was saying. ANYway, I love how you're all La La, Did the Bench Press Ladder Then Did It All Over Again, no big. Beast. I dig.
  10. Can you blame me? She's doing a listening party at a record store this week, you should come
  11. hahaha, um.... nope. I just reactivated after months off, because a friend can't text and keeps trying to send me fb messages. I just realized I only have 2 NF peeps as fb friends - one on another continent so it's cool if he sees my face, hahahaha, and one that's my friend offline as well. But now that my face is all over the showerbeer place, I might as well add y'all, eh? Ha.
  12. http://www.vita.mn/music/212206001.html PUFFY HEART LOVE HER
  13. Honestly.....??? I posted this immediately after seeing your name on facebook, hehe. I typed a whole rambling section about how MI and DE are calling my name. Holy crap I just realized how insanely amazing PainBallTwister would be once exdesseus' hair is involved. There would defintely be girl flirting. Well, who am I kidding, that goes without saying.
  14. Ahahahaha! This is SO RIGHT ON! I love it
  15. I am leaning more and more towards needing a road trip this year. I'm a Sagittarius, dammit. My parents' visits and my bills have been more important in years past, but I've been jonesing like crazy. Going to friends' weddings doesn't count the same way I hoped it would. I'm going camping at a hippie music fest this weekend... it will be good to see my friends after skipping their band's last couple events at the former boy's workplace, but I usually have intense moments of feeling really lonely at the ultra-hippie-love-gatherings, because while I am absolutely enough of a hippie to be about connection, I'm more motivated by connection to my fellow humans than to the earth around me. The music and the foods will be amazing, however! And my friend I'm camping with is a beautiful, amazing soul who's been through absolute hell in the past few years, to the point of feeling her very existence is tenuous (yeah that's cryptic and her reality is a lot more dire, but too personal for the internet), so it will be fantastic no matter what my brain is trying to do to me. Also: I have a feeling DOMS will be a more-than-enthusiastic companion! But I am SO GLAD I finally got back in the gym! And: whiskey. I will make your reacquaintance soon, my friend, don't you worry.
  16. I am the same way with pills. Actually pretty much anything that is a scheduled "thing" - my personality just resists anything i'm "obligated" to do. To the extent that I made sure I went to a college with a required mandatory attendance policy because I would've skipped all the time! Pills, then, TOTALLY fall into that. The more I'm supposed to take them at a certain time every day, the more I am annoyed by the whole process.
  17. Mir, how do you *feel* about going to work? Because the more you are troubleshooting this, the more it seems like it's not really about work-- that's the thing affected because you're obligated to go, but it seems like it's more an extension of depression/anxiety. I have major major apathy when mine is high, but I always end up getting up at the very last minute because I can't call in without a medical reason. --ack, I have to go back to my room at work, but I have thoughts that hopefully i won't forget later, because maybe thinking about it in terms other than Getting To Work might be helpful?
  18. mmmmmmmm whiskey..... that would've been perfect with my ice cream dinner, actually. Maybe that is what I'm doing wrong in my life at the moment! It's been...2 months? since I've had any. Oh, maybe three...very beginning of April. ACK. NO WONDER. I'm going camping this weekend (to a music festival) and can't bring bottles, so Bota box wine is probably on the menu. OR THIS:
  19. You're doing some solid work up in here, man!!!!! holy cow that Lord of the Cage tumblr is hilarious! I love this one hahahaha
  20. Meat and cake for breakkie? I'm surprised Mir didn't show up on your doorstep this morning.
  21. It would be interesting to see where the physiological benefits differ with different schedules -- splitting workouts throughout the day or even adding workouts to a day is still leaving you with full rest days, so it seems like there wouldn't be much difference in terms of CNS recovery. I'm definitely not at the level that I am overly concerned about rest/recovery for optimal muscle growth vs just pushing through for increased strength, but from what I've read in the past it seems like that's where the difference lies if your goals are at either end of that spectrum-- there are tons of people who suddenly change their physical workload due to jobs and are just fine working the same muscles with high volume every day, increasing strength and volume capacity as the days progress, but strength doesn't equal optimal hypertrophy. Just curious, Rob, do you find you're less sore after high volume spread throughout the day vs all at once? It makes sense to me that it would be so, similar to "light activity" the day after a new/hard workout.
