  1. Just remember; no matter how calories something is, eating it once won't effect your body or weight overnight. Take a deep breathe and remember that it's okay. A lot of us here probably find ourselves going through that very same feeling but it'll pass. Try drinking some ice cold water or getting some fresh air; or doing a few of the things that Redstone posted about when she feels body dysmorphia rearing its ugly head. I bet that they could help with that feeling too!
  2. Hahaha! My nearest gym is, conveniently, next to my workplace. But it is also, coincidentally, next to a rugby academy! So you'll walk in and instantly you're just a tiny little woman surrounded by teen boys younger than you who are these hulking beasts! I always ended up ducking out and heading to my same two machines; the rowing machine and horizontal seated leg press *holds face in hands* But ooooh that personal trainer program sounds amazing! Definitely worth a shot if you ask me!
  3. I can relate! I'm also 5'4 and not the strongest-looking; it can be quite intimidating to walk into a room full of gigantic men bench-pressing huge weights. A few years back when I was reading Steve's site I felt this sudden inspiration to go and work out, to get past that silly fear of doing weights as a, *shockgasp*, woman! But it felt so intimidating when I walked in that I scuttled straight back out again
  4. I actually remember hearing of that (also a UK rebel and love the idea of something like that) but never pursued it further. This just reminded me to consider it again, so thank you! Haha Anywho, welcome to the rebellion! I can tell already that you're going to fit in just great here. Also, loving the workout t-shirt; need to get me one with a snazzy slogan like that too, haha! Hope to see you around on the board! -Stella ♥
  5. Huh. Good question. My "fitness artifact" summons up images of me riding a steed through the woods, hair billowing in the wind, shooting an orc down with my bow and arrow whilst simultaneously controlling the horse somehow and looking graceful all the while, and then being hailed as elven princess of some medieval city, where I spend my nights laughing with fellow warriors over a tankard of mead. Realistic, no? Suppose it would do me well to think of an actual fitness artifact; after all, I know what kind of exercises I want to be able to do in the future; ie. take up archery and rock-climbing again (so maybe I could have a certain wall to defeat?) but I don't actually know where my next big milestone is. Hm... Food for thought!
  6. Ha, sounds like my style. Ooh, not bad. I think I'll give that a go; not sure whether I'll go with your first idea or second but either way, I'll try to work it out before the challenge begins. Thank you! [edit] Changed it up; will put up the values for what I grade a B or C before the challenge starts (come equivalent to 95% and 90% probably; and took your last idea for doing something fitness - I was afraid to put something fitness related in my goals because some days - or weeks - ie. if I'm in hospital, it just isn't possible and I didn't want to become discouraged. This way, I won't! Thanks.
  7. Oooh I had no idea! I tend to play on Xbox for the most part but for the most part I'm a PC gamer so we'll see >:3
  8. Good question! I hadn't thought of that. Hm, that could become discouraging... I'll think about it before the 25th! Any suggestions on how else I could do it? Aw, thank you, that's very kind of you! And I'm glad you enjoyed it; that's right, I'm one of "those" RPing dorks, haha! Thank you for the warm welcome! I do feel that as my treatment begins to kick in and I regain some strength I'll definitely want to do a lot of challenges that fall inline with the assassins. Look forward to joining you guys in future challenges!
  9. Well that was certainly interesting, haha
  10. The way I'll check up on my progress will be... (checks how many days there is in the challenge... 27) Quest One; A: 24 days or more B. 21 days or more C. 17 days or more Quest Two: Three times a week means.. Just under 4 weeks in the challenge so... Ideally, 12 times? A. 10 proper petting sessions or more B. 8 proper petting sessions or more C. 6 proper petting sessions or more Quest Three: A. 24 days or more B. 21 days or more C. 17 days or more *** Week One: Q1: Succeeded six days this week! 6/24 Q2: Did this three times this week! 3/10 Q3: Succeeded four days this week! 4/24 Q4: 1 this week Week Two: Sun: Q1 ✓ Q2 ✓ Q3 ✓ Mon: Q1 ✓ Q2 ✓ Q3 ✓ Tue: Q1 ✓ Q2 ✓ Q3 ✓ Wed: Q1 ✓ Q2 ✓ Q3 ✓ Thu:: Q1 ✓ Q2 ✓ Q3 ✓
  11. "She noticed the hulking dark shadow a moment too late, and with a loud screech the monster brought down its claws. The poison entered her bloodstream, setting course for her heart and with that, it all turned to black" Hi guys! So this is my very first challenge and I'm really looking forwards to it. Currently, I'm in the midst of a battle with my own body; You can read more about that in my battle journal, intro thread or on my character page. Anywho, my goals are nice, simple; ones that I hope will help keep me sane on days when I am bed-ridden, and ones that will allow me the flexibility to excel on days when I feel stronger! In future challenges and once treatment begins to kick in, I aim to return to my assassin-like ways; running, free-running, rock-climbing, etc. But for now, its time to rest and let the "poison" do its course. *wink* I'm excited to have my fellow rebels along for the ride! Quest One: "It is but a scratch, I'm absolutely *winces* fine!" Go for a walk in nature every day (even if it's just 5 minutes at a time) I'm an outdoorsy person; a nature lover; a girl who thrives in the open air, I really think that this goal will help keep me sane; its good for the body, mind and soul. XP: 35 B. 30, C. 25 Quest Two: "Take this potion, you'll feel better" Take my medicine each and every day That's right, Me, every damned day! No bloody exceptions! XP: 30 B. 25, C. 20 Quest Three: "Meditate upon the Gildergreen, may Kynareth heal you" Have some TLC with an animal at least x3 a week So I have a cat, two dogs and several guinea piggles, and my job involves working closely with a range of animals. I love all of mine, and feel that some quiet time alone, no screens to interrupt us, just fussing up to a fuzzy friend will really help with my morale. XP: 35 B. 30, C. 25 Additional Quest: "Tending to the wounds" Do some light stretching or yoga The beauty of this quest, I hope, is that I'm not giving myself a certain amount of times to do it; each time I do it, I'll give myself a small amount of XP, and we'll go from there. This should keep me motivated even on days where I "fail" to complete my objective; this is to do something - anything - for my body before recovery starts. XP: 5
  12. Whew, 10,000 sounds like a pretty big number to me! Well done!
  13. Wow, glad that I stumbled upon this thread. I have the outdoor space to work with so this definitely seems like a feasible option for me in the future. Will definitely give it a go. But more than it being practical; I've got to admit, I am totally fangirling right now. This just seems so unbelievably awesome! Its my dream anyways; like a secret workout base! Kudos to you, man!
  14. I would second both of these! There are, of course, your bog standard fitness apps but I can't really advise on those. Pokémon Go, however, has, unintentionally on my part, had me walking/jogging/running (if there was, say, a charizard in question) miles since the day of its launch! Once, a friend and I walked seven miles doing laps of the town centre to take advantage of all of the pokestops (and the lures others had placed along the way)! Don't knock it 'till you try it! And Zombies Run... Damn, before I got ill a few months back I was an avid runner (and will continue to be so after recovery!) and would run about 8 miles, several times a week. I'd always have my music on (normally sound tracks from video games, you know, to set that 'running from a dragon' tone ), run the same few circular routes (rough terrain, part fields and part forest) and that was great. I don't remember if the app I downloaded was this one or a very similar one, but whichever it was, it would play "3D sound" of zombies catching on your heels! No better way to get the adrenaline pumping and those legs-a-runnin' than the sound of imminent death, haha! Ooooooon a less nerdy count however... I've heard great things about myfitnesspal but couldn't vouch for it myself, having never used it! Best of luck on your quest for a fitness app, though Stella x
  15. I completely get that. It's nice being here and knowing other people can relate, and will understand the nonsense going on in my mind, haha! And yes; I think that's really the key: trying to do something. When I find myself having one of those days, or weeks, or months, it can be so easy to just roll over, fire a bunch of self-critical thoughts at myself and want to hide under baggy clothes forever. Sometimes when I feel like that I don't even want to do something kind for myself; in a weird way, destructive behaviour tends to creep up on me when I'm already low, just to kick me when I'm down, ya'know? Sometimes we don't want to help ourselves or it becomes hard, but trying to do something - anything at all - is the key, at least for me! So if I don't have an appointment booked soon, I'll make myself dress up or do my makeup; anything to feel like I'm pampering myself just a little, or so that even if I'm hating on myself I can at least say "damn, my eyebrows are on fleek!" haha! Or like you said, going for a nice long hike, getting that blood pumping! And oh, I'm not even kidding [edit] Ooh, just noticed the username and photo... are you a minecraft fan by any chance?
  16. Hello! This really is helping; I feel like a lot of us probably see it as our deep, dark secret - even on a site like this in which eating and fitness is the focal point. And hm, what do I do when I get a case of the "body blues"? That is a good question. I do the same as you; after payday I'll book myself in for a facial or a massage. I've found that something really helpful for me has been to take really good care of my skin. I know that sounds crazy but I have a whole skincare routine complete with serum, sheet masks, face masks, moisturizer, eye cream, night cream, etc... What sounds like a tedious chore has actually become a bit of a self-pamper routine at night, to unwind after work and before I go to sleep. Keeps my skin glowing and gives me one thing off the top of my head that I can say "actually, I like that about myself"; Keeping care of yourself is really difficult to do so if you can turn those negative, destructive habits into positive, self-care ones, that's a win-win! Don't worry, I have enough gifs to keep us covered
  17. I love to look on the good side of my heart condition but when I was talking to a family member (not a particularly close one) I just... Them: "Well be thankful. It least it isn't life-threatening" Me: "Erm, it can be. That's why the specialists are in such a rush to arrange the surgery" Them: "Are you sure about that?" Me: "Yes, grandmother died of this very condition nine years ago..." Them: "Well look on the bright side! At least you have something in common with her now!"
  18. I remember being posed a question really similar to this back in my college days; I don't recall if they gave us the dimensions for the tables, etc, but even if they did I don't think that mattered. It was one of those strange, tricky questions... I just don't remember what the answer was!
  19. First of all, congratulations on not drinking in a month! Not sure I could say the same to most friends, family or coworkers so that's a pretty impressive feat. Kudos to you! But really, sounds like you've managed to level up most aspects of your life too. You got this, man!
  20. I attempted to cheat by googling it and yielded only guides on how to organize seating for a party. *hangs head in shame*
