1. Welcome! I hope you get through your eating disorder. It made me think of Nia Shanks, I don't know if you have heard of her, but she's gone through an eating disorder before and she makes really great recommendations. http://www.niashanks.com/2013/04/break-free-ocd-eating-build-better-body/ Also welcome OCE4.5! Good luck on the bodyweight workouts, let me know how those go, body weight stuff can be a lot of fun since you can do it anywhere.
2. I love your bike idea! Its reminds me how much I need to ride my bike around more. Its starting to feel neglected . . .
3. Thanks. Your goals sound great as well. I think that these two things go hand in hand. I just know that if I look at the numbers and worry about them too much, it tends to stress me more. Maybe I"ll graduate to numbers next round.
4. Hi everyone! I hope that I'm not too late to join the party! This sounds like a great group. I want to focus on more of a mental health aspect and being less stressed and happier with myself and my accomplishments. I don't handle stress and I am down much more than I feel I should be. I like the idea of a facebook group. My name's LeeAnn and I'll send a request to you on facebook.
5. Ok! So this may not be specifically my first challenge, but considering I never finished one before, I'm going to call it my first. And this time I will finish. I have a vacation out of the country set for next week, but after that week, I will be back! I want to lose weight and be happier. I don't handle stress as well as I would like (and I’m always stressed) and I feel I lose my temper quicker than I should. I also have body image issues (what girl doesn't, right?) that I really want to overcome. I want to reach a healthier weight around 135 pounds from my current weight of 157 last time I weighed. I have previously been better about healthier eating and working out and I found this to be amazing for my mental health, so I feel these two go hand in hand. This challenge I want to focus less on numbers and more on the mental aspect and get that sorted first and hopefully with that, the next one will fall in line much easier. So the main goal is going to be to focus on feeling more positive and happier through exercise and eating well. Main Quest: To be a more positive and happy person I will get there doing: -workout 4 times a week -yoga once a week -eat 4 servings of fruits and/or vegetables a day. Life side quest: -Draw or animate a personal work at least once a week (share it here maybe?) Felt like this was related so I’ll leave it here: “Pessimists are right 90% of the time and optimists 10%, but optimists can pull off miracles.†-Dan Carlin
6. I don't know much about micros - I try to keep things simple when it comes to my own working out and eating - but I'm sure somebody here can answer it! Good workouts so far and good luck on your challenge goals! Its quite a lot you're putting up there! As for diet - it might be time to hide those cashew's if they're causing too much of a problem Though I didn't see you post about them today.
7. I'm a little late to the party, but its because I did some thinking . . . I did the challenge back in April. I failed. I had just moved across the country, got my first real out of college job, was taking classes, and it was too much for me to handle a challenge on top of that. Its been a while since that and while I've been absent, I've sorted my life out. Still taking classes, still working full time, and I added working out 6x a week, time management is a great thing. I actually just weighed myself this morning for the first time in a couple weeks and found out that I'm 15 lbs below where I was at the end of April! So now I feel its time for a challenge and I plan to blow this one out of the water! class: Warrior Race: Half-Dwarf Height: 5'3" Weight: 149 STR: 4 DEX: 1 STA: 3 CON: 3 WIS: 2 CHA: 2 GOALS 1. Fast once a week. (excluding this week due to preparing for a 10k on Sunday) CON + 5 2. Do one pull up. STR + 5 3. Squat my current bodyweight 5x (current PR: 135x5) STR + 2 STA + 1 4. Work on animation every night (going to my workshop counts) WIS +2 I also had an idea. I want to design a character and level her up for the game. For instance, at the end of the challenge, if I make my Strength goal, I'll add weights to her barbell or if I complete my Constitution goals I'll give her a piece of armor and maybe boots for my stamina goals. Of course, I'm going to have to make all this, but I can't keep it since that would defeat the point of winning it. I was thinking of making the goal pieces and then giving the files to a friend and deleting them off my computer so that they can give them to me when I make it. Here are my rough sketches. This is just an idea for her outfit, despite being a warrior, I kept the armor and weights kind of small since I'm only level 1. I want to make it a mix of gym clothes and warrior clothes without looking too weird. I won't leave it as a sketch, I'll be making it into a vector and make the clothes so that they can be swapped out. For some reason I can't seem to upload or post any picture, but here's the link to the sketch http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10382549/warrior_clothes1.jpg Is it a silly idea? Anyways, cheers to a new challenge!
8. So, I suck at jump roping. My work doesn't require me to keep doing the school, I keep doing it because I'm not where I want to get and I need to get better to get there. I am afraid that if I take a break I'll lose my momentum won't come back and I feel that I should do it, I have never not been really busy and stressed, I always pile too much and not doing too much kinda frightens me, if that makes any sense. :/
9. Dangit, I forgot to buy both headphones and a jump rope at walgreens on the way home. Messes up my workout plans until tomorrow night (and hopefully work doesn't mess them up after that) I just got home from work after three hours of overtime, thank god I woke up and went to the gym in the morning, it would have been closed by the time I got out of work! I was going to wake up and do cardio, but I forgot to buy new headphones and so I can't do any of my favorite coached workouts at the gym . . . maybe I'll do yoga tonight or tomorrow morning and save the gym for when I get home or maybe do Insanity or Turbo Fire instead? Gotta figure it out. I'm thinking of not taking my online courses next semester and taking some time off (I did just graduate from college, a breather from assignments would be nice . . .) and also because I can't figure out how to fit everything in, since apparently staying late at work is going to be a very common occurrence, I don't want to waste my money or my teacher's time. Maybe having a summer to focus on myself and my new job would be a good thing? Do you guys have any advice on that? I'm nervous about taking a break because I feel like I shouldn't, but I'm also afraid of wasting money and not being able to give it my all and perhaps getting burnt out. Btw, I'm glad you all like the logo - feel free to do whatever you want with it! Someone said they wanted to make shirts, if you do want to make them from it, I can send you the proper files to take to the printer.
10. You'd just have to get everyone in the squad's name tatooed on you haha jk
11. Alright guys, here's what I did with LRB's design. What do you think? Edit: I guess you have to click on them to make them bigger, I'm not sure how to make them show bigger in the forum box.
12. That is not me either, just for the record . . . I need to get some more planking in. I'm actually trying to get my butt up and go to the gym at this moment. Its my first weekend since I started my new job and the week wore me out! I have to go to the gym to make my goal though. I already broke down once today and ended up eating too much chocolate (I think I'm starting to pms - uh oh). I did however make it to the farmers market today. I'm adventuring and going to try new farmers markets throughout NYC. this one was really small, but I got some good eggs, turkey sausage and grass fed beef burgers, mushrooms, and corn for popping (a guilty pleasure). As normal, I ended up spending more than I wanted, but I just won't eat out at all this week and call it even. I haven't tried Optimum Nutrition protein, sounds like an interesting flavor! I'm one of those picky types that really only does grass fed whey and all, so I've been sticking to Dr. Mercola's Miracle Whey and Pure Power protein. I like all the flavors I've tried but strawberry and vanilla, for some reason I don't like those at all, unless I mix them with water its for some reason better than with milk. Chocolate's always delicious though. I reccomend it if you're into all that (and paying extra for it being grass fed its really only affordable if bought in bulk) I really like the logo idea. Did you draw it in pencil or pen? If you want I can clean it up in the computer for you and make it all sleek and shiny!
13. I hate debating people with the food and all too, I don't bother trying anymore, but as for weather or not Forks over Knives is a trustworthy source, I recommend sending them here: http://rawfoodsos.com/2011/09/22/forks-over-knives-is-the-science-legit-a-review-and-critique/ Super long post, but as her blog always is, a great read.
14. Hey guys! I subscribed to all of your blog posts, but I was wondering where I go to check out the subscriptions? Does anybody know?
15. Nice going Shiggles! Even spread throughout the day, 11 min is impressive! I didn't manage any yesterday (fell asleep right after class ) So I did two minutes after working out, but I was so tired after weight lifting that I couldn't do more than two minutes. I'll try for more tomorrow. Work kept me late today for the first time and I know it won't be the last. I'll definitely have to get used to that, I think I'll have to stop planning to go to the gym after work since they close at 11, gonna have to start waking up early and hopefully find time to animate at the end of the night . . . having a hard time with that time management.
