  1. Looks like the biggest difference is that with the Strength training you go as much as you can at each set, and the Fitness training is set to an amount of reps per set. Also the exercises are different (obviously) where it seems that the fitness guide seems to be more focused on overall fitness (with weight lifting too, lots of body weight exercises) and the Strength training you get to choose a 'camp' that you want to work with (Dumbbells, Body weight and Barbells). I have both I'm working on the Fitness Guide first, level up and then going into the strength guide Loving it so far! I read your other thread where you mention some modifications, sounds like you have a pretty good grip on it. Go with what your body seems comfortable On another note, look! Now you know all kinds of nerdy people outside of Uni hehehe
  2. Ah more Melbournians! Hi guys, I'm new here and it's nice to see more people in the same city as me. I know I'm a bit late but welcome Quentin!
  3. I'm new too and also from Melbourne! Are you close to the CBD at all? Need a gym buddy
  4. Hey! I'm from Melbourne, happy to help out your friend. Don't know how old your friend is, but I'm 28, so getting to the old fart stage Let me know if she needs any help getting around Melbourne!
  5. Wow! Look at all you guys! That's awesome, thanks so much for replying @ Silentplanet - Geelong! That's awesome, I love Geelong. Best of luck with your Strength guide. Let me know how you go, cause I got that one too and it's my next one to go at (or if I need a change hehe) @ Book - Plenty of geek/nerds here in Oz. One of the reasons I love it Definitely great place to visit too, I highly recommend it. Not biased at all (Though I am originally from Brasil, so I do have a comparison) @ jswbach - Ooo maybe I should hold off on going up to the Recruit program then? See how my next workout kicks my butt? hehe Let me know how you're progressing. @ katscratch - Thanks for the welcome! We can both show our bodies just how awesome weightlifting hehe Welcome to you too!
  6. Thanks MirGSS! I do have to admit that I'm looking to lose some weight (around 20-25kg) but I'm more looking at that being a side effect of a better lifestyle. Not that it hurts and it is a good motivator (On a side note, I am keeping a food and fitness journal on DailyBurn.com just to make sure I understand the nutrients that I'm getting.) So yeah, I'll be poking my head around the weightloss forums as well as Paleo and weight lifting ones. I think I've just become so used to twitter that posting on a forum is kinda weird now So I'll have to remind myself to go look haha I know what you mean about the time to cook everything. I've started to cook a huge batch of veggies that I cook on Monday nights for the rest of the work week, and then I just add some chicken to it (or eggs if I'm really pressed for time) on week nights. Om nom nom. Biggest trouble I have really is having the time to do the actual shopping. I sneak out during my workday lunch on Mondays and buy all the food I'll need for the week. Then hide it in the work fridge when I walk back. I don't have a car, so I walk to/from work carrying all of this stuff. Does that count as lifting weights?
  7. Hi all! My name is Day, I'm 28 and live in Melbourne, Australia. *waves to my fellow aussies if you're out there* I came across the Nerd Fitness blog about a month or so ago, landing straight into the "Beginners Guide to the Paleo Diet" entry. This clicked with me immediately as my thoughts on nutrition match the Paleo diet exactly (I just had no idea it had a name!). This was the push I needed to finally start deprogramming my bad habits learnt from my upbringing and getting more into something that makes sense to me. Being a geek, I have never been much of a cook or a sports/fitness person. However, that's all changing now. Since reading up on basically everything I could on Paleo and the Nerd Fitness Rebellion, I have switched to full Paleo (been working on it over the last month, cooking it all which is new to me) and have bought myself the Guides from Nerd Fitness to start the fitness rebellion side of things. I tried out the Rookie workout today, and though I sweated like a pig, I think I can handle the Recruit program. So on Wednesday I'll be giving that one a shot Anyone else on the Recruit or Rookie programs that can share their experience? Other newbies? I would love to get some support here from the forums and maybe even find a gym buddy? I go to Virgin Active Health Club here in Melbourne (on Bourke St) and would love for someone else who goes there to maybe give me a hand getting to know the free weights area? I know it's a long shot, but hey, had to try. hehe Anywhos... Wanted to introduce myself and say hello! Would love to hear from you all. Hope you're all having an awesome day! - Day
