  1. I might be up for it, I need to read into it more before I give a yes or a no. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  2. I started following strict paleo for July and so far so good. My question is now can I do c25k and YAYOG beginner at the same time. If so if I start YAYOG beginner next week should I wait a week to start c25k? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  3. I see that TTGL (Gurren Lagann) is not on your list. I really enjoyed it myself, definitely in my top 5 and a contender for #1 easily. It does start off kind of childish, but it's pretty darn awesome in my opinion.
  4. The most recent anime I've seen are: Gurren Lagann Elfen Lied Fairy Tail (Season 1) Soul Eater
  5. I wish I would have noticed the mini-challenge sooner. I did some stuff this week, but I want to make something else to do since I hadn't planned them out as mini goals... So far: 1. Got a gym membership 2. Explored the gym to find all the stuff 3. Got a friend to agree to do the gym and c25k with me
  6. Yay! Thanks! Just finished setting up my signature and updating my initial post with more details on my goals.
  7. Tigger, are you from Fredericksburg? I live about 45 mins south of Fredericks burg and about 35 north of Richmond, and about 20 mins NW from Ashland. Speicicallly the very north western corner of Hanover boarding Spotsy, Caroline, Louisa. That being said I can drive to VA Beach, or up to NoVA, and about as far west as Charlottesville, or maybe VA Tech.
  8. How do you like pathfinder? I used to do some D&D 3.5 with a group of friends until we couldn't all meet up on the same days anymore. If you can't tell I like your life goal a lot haha.
  9. @Blade - Thanks @Loren Wade - I've been sort of trying to follow paleo since about the middle of March. I try and eat salads with meet and eggs and veggies, then I add bacon, Olive oil, almond slices, and Balsamic Vinegar during the work week. I am probably going to add to the follow paleo something with cooking a different paleo dish each week or something to that effect. I live at home and am stuck with what my parents keep stocked in the house when it comes to ingredients. I'd love to hear some recipes for different meals of the day that are good for cooking n00bs. @Crooked - I was thinking of doing Lifting at the Gym MWF, and yoga TTH. I'm not sure if I want to put c25k on MWF or if adding it in would be too much for the one challenge and if I should wait til the next challenge to do that. I'm thinking that if I can't make it to the gym for some reason I'll do the beginner bodyweight circuit. That was my original plan, but they had a no joining fee at the local YMCA so I signed up since there is no contract and if I don't hit the gym enough during this challenge, I'll probably drop it. Also, on Sundays I do a foam combat LARP thing for about 4 hours. ---- Those goals I meant to flesh out yesterday after work, but I pick my brother up from night school at 10pm and I passed out as soon as I got home, I think I'm getting sick, since about yesterday late afternoon my throat has been sore and I've been kind of feeling like I'm on the verge of getting sick. I had a break-up and had been feeling down the last week, I'm hoping if I can do this challenge it would be good for me not just over all health and leveling up my life, but for dealing with this down feeling. I'll be adding in my specific plans for each goal and a bio and stuff hopefully this afternoon, I'm going to try to get on after work and do what I can to get online to do it. I browse during work, but try not to post and/or let myself get too distracted with NF unless its dreadfully slow. Thanks for all the warm welcomes, and I look forward to tackling this challenge!
  10. Updated: 05/03/2012 Background: I joined up with Nerd Fitness back in March and started following paleo to the best of my ability, I dropped about 10-15lbs. I'm planning on trying out a 5k a bit more long term and get some friends to do it with me. My life goal for the year is by next March to be in the best shape of my life (won't be too hard I've never really been in shape, but I'm not starting too bad off) and to have saved up enough to move out of my parents and into my own place and start living my life in a way that I won't regret it when I'm old. Bio: In my mundane life I'm a QA Tester that plays video games, and D&D. Of the video games I mostly play WoW, LoL, TF2, Skyrim, and used to play Halo when I had a working xbox. I am a founding member and run the local boffer fighting club. We are a Dagorhir unit based out of Ashland, VA and we fight hard for a few hours on Sundays. I tend to favor small punch shields or going 2 stick, but I'm working on my polearm fighting. Thelador is the name of our unit and its Sindarin for Ashland. Our background is that we are the descendants of those few Dunedain who survived the disaster of the Gladden Fields, and took refuge near the realm of King Thranduil. Name: Naerith Race: Theladorian Class: Ranger Age: 23 Height: 6'1" Weight: 190lbs STR 2 DEX 2 STA 2 CON 4 WIS 3 CHA 2 First 6 Week Challenge: 1. Go to the gym and lift 3 times a week (+3 STR) I WILL hit the local YMCA after I get out of work on MWF with a friend who is unofficially following the challenge with me. He's not yet a NF member but I'm trying to pull in him. 2. Do the first 6 weeks of c25k (+3 STA) I WILL do as much of the c25k program as I can by the end of the challenge. I'm not sure if I'll end up repeating a week. This is also with my friend that I'm trying to get to join NF. 3. Do Yoga on off days (+3 DEX) I WILL do yoga after work on TTH and on Saturdays during rest days. 4. Follow Paleo (+2 CON / +1 WIS) I WILL follow paleo as closely as I can AND learn to cook a Paleo dish each week. 5. Work on web design and making garb (+2 WIS / +1CHA) I WILL fix the web site I started for my final project of my web design capstone course last year. That site is the one my local boffer group will use for our recruitment. I will also make a new set of garb for using at events for the boffer group.
  11. Hey! I live in the Richmond area, well somewhere between Richmond and Fredericksburg. I'd be up for a meetup anywhere in good ole VA though. Sorry for necroing an old thread!
  12. Thanks for the welcoming guys, I look forward to being part of such a great community. @Tommy - Hmm, I'll look around to see if there are any boffer leagues in the UK.
  13. Hi all, I have been lurking the site on and off for a few months and finally decided to join up with the rebellion. I am 23 years old, from Virginia, weigh somewhere between 195-200lbs, 6'1". Hobbies I enjoy are, video games, watching anime, a good game campaign of Dungeons and Dragons, and Dagorhir! I don't get a chance to game as much as I used to. I'm a recovering WoW addict, a former Halo and Starcraft II player, and currently a League of Legends kind of guy. When it comes to my only physical activity besides daily life, I fight Dagorhir for 4 hours on Sundays. Dagorhir is part of what is inspiring me to get in shape, I am competitive when it comes to games, and want to push myself hard to be the best I can be at it. Currently I fight single sword, sword and board, and am working on making a polearm. So why start now, whats different so different? Well I have been reading articles during my lunch breaks at work and had a few really hit home to me. I'm ready to "Live a life worth living" and get myself in shape. I've always been out of shape, always wanted to get in shape, and like a lot of people, could never see it all the way through. Sickness, injuries, and just life getting in the way. Well, now I am going to succeed, now I am not going to let life get in the way. If something comes up, it will just be a problem that needs a creative solution. I want to explore the world, and not just the World of Warcraft. I look forward to the road ahead, because "today is the first day, of the rest of my life" and I look forward to challenges that await!
