  1. This is so old-school I love it! So many people hate talking on the phone, but you're up to the challenge. And it challenges you to talk to a stranger. Well done. I hope the hotel you want is available. Either way, you'll have a great time.
  2. Very powerful and wise observation. Sometimes it's best to take a step back and reflect on priorities and shift gears if needed to focus on what really matters. You're doing great things for yourself. Keep it up.
  3. I really like this idea. Etsy is like the Facebook of seller sites: so much content, so many users and contributors, that it's difficult to get your stuff seen, much less bought. But if you offer something locally and help your community (teaching is one of the absolute best gifts you can give someone) then it's so much more valuable to you.
  4. Hell yeah! That's an awesome thing to declare. And btw, you just inspired me to throw out my old PS2, as well. I don't even think it works anymore.
  5. I'm sorry to hear that you were sick and that you've had some struggles with your challenge. But you're getting up every day and facing life with all its challenges. Be proud of what you have done and keep your chin up. Let me know if I can support you in any way.
  6. You're welcome. Keep at it! And since you love gifs so much...and Legend of Zelda... :-)
  7. Sounds like it! And I agree with @Taddea Zhaan. This is YOUR challenge. Do with it as you please. You know best where your challenges lie and how to improve upon them. We're here to support and cheer you on.
  8. I'd pay for that! :-) Awesome! Teamwork! They sound like good people, seriously. And this is what it's all about. I think it's cool that in spite of your pain you're doing your best to get out, to help your team, and to feed people! Even Idris Elba thinks you're awesome.
  9. Day Twenty-four (today): Smiled at several people on campus; also smiled and greeted the cashier at the barbecue place across the street and the cashier at Sheetz. Both seemed pleasantly surprised that I beat them to the greeting. I listened to my coworker share a story about going to the wrong coffee place; she ended up at a small gambling parlor instead. She said they seemed very confused when she asked about their coffee and lunch specials. Things I'm grateful for today: electricity, refrigerators, awkward laughter Talked to my mother today; stepfather still not in top shape, but mom is over her sickness. 50/50 pushups and 50/50 dips No fasting today. I'm going to have to be more disciplined about this if I want to take it seriously. Walked all over campus today; 12,703 steps today, or about 6 miles. No chance to hit the gym for HIIT, but I did walk up and down the stairs in the tallest building on campus (10 floors) and did a couple of sprints during my walk across campus. Brief Wim Hof Method breathing session this afternoon. Listened to an instrumental meditation by Dennis and Kathy Lang. Read a bit more of American Gods, as well as a Sherlock Holmes story (a Doyle original). Stuck with my scheduled social media time; I honestly don't miss it that much, especially with the impending political drama. Continuing with the plan to read the entire New Testament in 30 Days; I'm a little behind, but I will get caught up before the end of the challenge. Today's devotional was about God's power and might and discusses one of my favorite parts of the Bible from Job 38. Took brief moments throughout the day to thank God for various things, prayed for my parents, for a sick former student, and for a coworker.
  10. Sounds good to me! Barefoot? How about some sprints?
  11. Day Twenty-three (Monday): Smiled and greeted several people on campus, including a few of the librarians. Does it count if they know me? Most returned my greeting and smile. Things I'm grateful for today: Kind breakfast bars, printers, abandoned buildings Talked to my mother today; she's feeling better, but my stepfather is still feeling weak and drained. Woo hoo! 50 pushups and 50 dips! No fasting today; I love food too much. Walked all over campus today, total 14,525 steps, or 6.71 miles. Started my morning with a Wim Hof Method breathing session. No guided meditation, but I took several quiet moments to myself and perused books on the university library shelves, which is very much a Zen experience. Read a bit of American Gods. Stuck to my social media time. Catching up to my reading the entire New Testament in 30 Days; I listened to two days worth of readings during my walk. Today's devotional used Jesus Christ and 1 Corinthians 13 to define perfect love (shoutout to my next challenge). Took brief moments throughout the day to thank God for various things, prayed for my mom and stepdad.
  12. Yeah, there are a lot of people out there who make it look easy. It's not, not if you do it right. Same with pushups. True, accurate pushups are hard to do. So hell yeah, you go you badass. Do more, as many as you can. You'll feel like punching a hole through a wall. :-) I'm kidding, of course. Please don't do that.
  13. This, unfortunately, also extends to the Christian community...take care of the poor, feed the hungry, etc., but only if it's convenient for you and doesn't interfere with your paycheck. Have you heard of Shane Claiborne? He's sort of an evangelist who (with the help of some friends) started a community in Philadelphia by purchasing an entire block of empty, run-down buildings and allowing anyone who needed a home to live and work in the community. Shane does his best to take the words of Jesus seriously. He makes his own clothes, drives an eco-friendly car, stays with friends or at churches when he travels instead of in hotels/resorts, eats locally grown food, and does his best to help the environment, feed the poor, to take care of the "least of these." Unlike a lot of Christian evangelists (*cough, cough* Joel Osteen *cough, cough*) who live "their best life now" and "take advantage of the blessings God has bestowed" by wearing expensive suits, driving expensive cars, living in expensive houses (do you really need that many rooms?). Shane is more interested in his best life in heaven, in the blessings God will bestow when we care for the broken (as the Bible actually says in Matthew 25). So just like there are a lot of politicians who like to ignore the Constitution (and basic human decency), there are a lot of Christians who like to ignore the Bible.
  14. Yeah, there should be a button that says, "I'm not interested in buying your shit."
  15. I usually suffer the discomfort until my hands and fingers become calloused. Then I just sort of don't feel it anymore. But @mr_willes has a good idea. If you don't have kettlebells, you can do farmer carries with dumbbells. And for home, I don't know if you have cats, but I keep the tubs that hold cat litter, like these: You can fill them up with water, sand, or gravel and use them like kettlebells or do farmer carries with them.
  16. I agree. My wake-up time used to be 5:30, but I've worked it to 4:45. This gives me quiet time to myself since everyone else in my house gets up at 5:30. Your challenge is awesome. Keep it up. Let me know if I can support you in any way.
  17. I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why. I need to pick the pieces of my heart back up, so I started listening to the special edition full-cast audiobook of American Gods. Gotta get it read before the show airs.
  18. Sorry to hear about the sickness. March is the worst month for my wife because allergies. Hope you feel better, because your challenge sounds awesome.
  19. THIS is a very powerful realization. The WHM taps into that, pushing beyond your perceived limits.
  20. Thank you! I dream of owning a husky, but I live in a mobile home and not a lot of space for running around.
