OMG It has been a tough week
I'm sorry to hear this, but it sounds like you made the best of it you could. Since you're a fan of Moana, I thought of a scene while reading your post: when Moana returns the heart of Te Fiti (my favorite scene, btw). "They have stolen the heart from inside you, but this does not define you. This is not who you are. You know who you are. Who you truly are."
You got this. Let me know if I can support you in any way.

I feel like the past two weeks went relatively well,
The past two weeks sound awesome! Well done!

This is a solid mindset. Sometimes stress and worry can be the biggest pitfall on our health journey.
You got this. Good to hear from you.

Not sure how I missed your challenge because it's awesome. Keep it up.
And mustn't forget Zoltan from The Gunslinger.

My boyfriend's grandmother died on tuesday
Oh no! I'm so sorry. I lost mine to Alzheimer's about six years ago. It was rough. But he's blessed to have someone supportive by his side. I'll be praying for you both and for his family. Keep us posted.

Day Eighteen:
- Smiled and greeted several people on campus; couldn't resist a chuckle at a few people who looked confused (as usual); almost all of them re
- I listened to the Academic Program Coordinator (a lady I very much admire who has been at the university since I was a student there) as she talked about her post-retirement plans and the struggles of working with an entitled young generation of bright but lazy students.
- Things I'm grateful for today: thunderstorms, spring peepers, mustard
- Talked to my mother today; she is doing well, as is my stepfather.
- 50/50 pushups and 50/50 dips.
- Sort of fasted today...until about 10:30.
- Walked across campus today after a severe thunderstorm; also took the dogs for a walk this afternoon (shirtless, shoeless, and in shorts, of course).
- Did a Wim Hof Method breathing session this morning. I'm almost able to retain my breath for 3 minutes on the last session (like 2:50).
- Read a bit of Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces
- Stuck to my social media schedule (the wifi was out at work, so that made it easier).
- Continuing to read the entire New Testament in 30 Days; reading through 1 Corinthians right now.
- Today's devotional was a very powerful one that shared the story of Isaac Watts and his hymn "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" and talked about the crucifixion of Jesus.
- Took brief moments throughout the day to thank God for various things, prayed for those affected by the severe storms, and prayed for an easy and painless trip the dentist.

@Sylvaa I agree with you. My comment before the video was meant to be facetious. ;-) I probably should have explained myself after posting the video. Jocko is a retired Navy Seal, so he's really intense and definitely not for everyone. I didn't mean to imply that it was actually intended to motivate you. As you said, it does spark discussion.

You are working on a career change. I'd say that's a pretty high bar. :-)

I am trying to learn to deal with a whole new level and type of stress.
I'm sorry to hear that things are so rough. Don't let it defeat you, though. Chin up. Just remember that it doesn't last forever, good days will come, and you can do this.

I just look for fellow adventurers who are the last to post on their own thread.
That's a solid strategy. I either do that or scroll up and look for their last post and comment on it.

You are kicking this challenge's ass. Way to go!

Just kidding. No worries. I have the same problem sometimes. Just update when you can, and we'll follow enthusiastically. :-)

And you just made me realize how much I miss this show. Every time I watch Craig Ferguson or see Drew Carey on the Price is Right, I long for a bit of nostalgia. Sometimes I feel so old...

Ran yesterday, it was lovely.
Feels great, doesn't it? I sprinted in the cool rain today, splashing barefoot in marshy puddles; I felt so alive.

Wish I could say the same. I've been naughty.
Looks like you're taking big steps towards awesome. Well done.

Day Seventeen:
- Smiled and greeted a neighbor who was carrying a beer while I was out running around in the rain shirtless and shoeless in shorts; listened to him as he asked me where my clothes where because it was below 50 F and raining. I told him about my cold training and pointed to the stream dropping down the hill just behind his house and told him that's where I was headed. He said, "Go right ahead." After I finished my hike, he said, "How'd that feel?" "Great, I said." "Well, everybody's gotta be good at something," he said.
- Things I'm grateful for today: funny neighbors, strength, Star Wars
- Talked to my mother today; stepfather is home, feeling better, but still exhausted and weak.
- 50/50 pushups (some of them in the rain) and 50/50 dips
- No fasting today.
- Took a long walk in the rain; ran some sprints in the rain and followed a stream halfway up the mountain. Can I count that as HIIT?
- Did my Wim Hof Method breathing session at work before my coworkers arrived.
- Listened to a guided meditation by Lisa Abramson of Mindfulness Based Achievement about perspective and gratitude.
- Read a bit of Beautiful Practice by Frank Forencich, founder of Exuberant Animal.
- Stuck to my social media schedule: 30 minutes this morning and 1 hour this evening.
- Continuing to read the entire New Testament in 30 Days; finishing Romans and starting 1 Corinthians
- Today's devotional was about Jesus's defeat of death through his resurrection and what that mean for us.
- Took brief moments throughout the day to thank God for various things, prayed for my mentor and his wife, and my mother and stepfather.
