  1. Copied from the OG thread: Work has been hella stressful with all the web access/security changes they've been making. Honestly, the days were really running together. I did shower on Thursday and Friday though, so I feel pretty good about that. Friday I gave both dogs a bath, washed both of their crates, cleaned my kitchen, vacuumed and mopped. I started a couple loads of laundry so the mountain of clothes to fold an put away is massive. Then, my dumb ass decided to binge watch the ENTIRE first season of Cobra Kai and well, while the acting was terrible, I was so in love all over again. It really got me thinking about how much people change throughout their lives. I never would have imagined that I would feel so much sadness and compassion for Johnny Lawrence or that I would become so angry at Daniel Larusso for being such a shit bully. Silly, but it moved me. I didn't go to sleep until 6 this morning. OOOPS!!! I slept till about 11. Having my coffee and started reading my textbook for Medical Terminology. I've definitely increased my water intake this week. Not tracking food at all. And getting the moving part was a bust with the exception of taking Taser for a walk and all the running around the apartment cleaning. I think that should count. Going to spend the rest of the weekend catching up on other house crap and my 4 day work weeks start Monday. 10 hour days suck, but 3 day weekends are pretty great.

  3. Sink is empty and clean. I am falling asleep typing this up. Can't say that I did any kind of movement other than taking the stairs at work, but that's normal so I don't feel like it counts. Honestly, I didn't shower today either and I'm terrified if I do it now I'll be awake all night, so I'm taking my supplements and setting the alarm 15 minutes early so I can shower in the morning. God, it's really almost embarrassing to type out, but get comfortable with being uncomfortable applies to lots of things, right!?!? ETA: I'm on my 5th 30oz cup of water today, so there's that
  4. YES, YES YOU CAN!!! I have been in such a happy place today, KNOWING that I'm home again. I really can't explain it!
  5. Ok yesterday I attempted Murph and got about halfway through before I realized that I was REALLY dehydrated and hungry. That was a good/bad wakeup call. There was a plate in the sink, but the rest of the kitchen was clean and the dishwasher was running.
  6. Water is chilling in the fridge. Half Murph is done. Just a few things to do tonight and I'm set up for a positive tomorrow.
  7. Oh, my dear sweet Nerds, I've been away for far too long. And I've been so far away from here that I questioned whether I'd ever find my way home. I've never been real good at the story telling aspect of these challenges, so I'm not going to dive into waters in which I cannot swim. I'm here because there's been a longing in my heart, a need to reconnect with those that I love and those that support and love me back. My main purpose now is to reestablish a routine. Everything after that is a bonus. Without my routine in place I can't accomplish the things I need to in my daily life. I've been struggling through a serious bout of depression and that has left me physically and mentally exhausted, and unable to function effectively daily. Considering this is my first challenge is I don't know how long, I'm going to keep it super simple. MAIN QUEST: Take care of ME 1. Water: 120 oz every day 2. Shower every day. If you've ever dealt with depression, self care is often the most difficult thing to accomplish daily. 3. Move for at least 30 minutes daily. 4. Don't go to bed with a dirty sink. I've learned that THIS specific thing is what causes me to feel overwhelmed and neglect other things.
  8. Methinks it's been a great deal too long since I've been home. I'm back and about to create my Rangery challenge as well!!! Love you seester! It's good to be home!
  9. Wow, this week went by fast! I'm definitely behind on the updates. I'll check in later on with deets love y'all!
  10. Wow, I did it again. I keep falling off the planet! Oh well, I'm not giving up this time! Same goals, new challenge....Will just copy paste because, consistency is the key to my success! FITNESS GOALS Running- 6.5 miles per day with one rest day per weekDIET GOALS Make the best possible food choices- tracking isn't mandatory (I tend to become obsessive and that isn't good for me) Journal foods to maintain accountabilityLEVEL UP MY LIFE Devote time -minimum 30 minutes each day- Studying for my CPT Exam Blogging. If I want it to be a business, I have to treat it like one. Here's a Google Doc to track my progress- you'll find it HERE
  11. Thank you! It was super rad to meet and hang out with you too!!!
  12. Sorry I’ve been radio silent for the past week, but that’s because I was gearing up for an absolutely EPIC weekend! Actually the EPICness (that’s totally a word) started on Thursday when I was delivered this little beauty courtesy of Driveshop USA and Toyota USA I took Friday off to head down to the Chevron Houston Marathon Expo for packet pickup and I ran into my beautiful blogger friend April O of Insights by April. Seriously, y’all need to check her out. She’s spunky and fun, smart and sassy! I love that she’s not afraid to rock the PINK HAIR!!!! I wish I could get away with that in my office! MommyGoRun & April Ockerman Next up….pick up my copilot and hit the road to Austin! The drive itself was pretty uneventful with the exception of the crazy dude that wouldn’t let me back over after I passed him. I didn’t realize that he’d caught sight of Vader as I passed and was trying to stay side by side with me to get a picture! I’m sure glad I didn’t cuss him out or make any rude gestures!!! First things first, when I got to Austin I headed straight to Casino el Camino for an Amarillo burger and fries. I swear this place is a MUST eat at! Thanks to Diners Drive ins and Dives for introducing me to this gem of a place. Right on 6th street across from All Saints Tattoo studio. I would get a burger here even if I was vegan and gluten intolerant. It would be 100% worth the suffering! The Amarillo Burger Roasted Serrano chiles, jalapeno jack cheese and cilantro mayonnaise When I’d dined sufficiently, lol, I headed over to Bam Academy to meet up with all the other Nerds that were attending the Level Up Your Life book signing with the one and only Steve Kamb, Staci Ardison, and Lauren from Nerdfitness. Steve summarize the book and we talked about how to take actionable steps to guarantee your success in building new habits and accomplishing your goals. Then we learned the basics in the Jedi art of lightsaber battles! If you ever wanted your very own, unique lightsaber, go check out Valence Sabers because holy wow, these were absolutely gorgeous!!! After training we got free play in the gym. There were Rebels jumping and swinging and running, Oh My! Before Everyone departed we gathered for this great shot! As if Friday night wasn’t amazing enough, the party spilled over to Saturday when we convened on the Capital grounds for some more Jedi lightsaber instruction. The incredible Dakao Do from Houston’s Sword to Sword was gracious enough to teach us more techniques. I’m pretty sure we all sucked equally, but man it was FUN!!! Dakao Do, Staci Ardison, and ME Steve doesn’t look so short here! If that was real, he’d need 2 new hands I’m not really sure what’s happening here… And what meetup would be complete without a group photo? Capital Rebels, FIGHT This was literally one of the best weekends of my life. I stepped WAY outside of my comfort zone to try new things and take an adventure all on my own. I embraced the 20 seconds of courage to do things I’d never dreamed I’d do, and you know what-I FREAKING LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! Challenge related: as of 1/19/16 I'm up to 93 miles. Haven't studied much, need to buckle down on that. Food choices are good with the occasional treat- That burger y'all!!! No hanging either, I need to get that bar up! Ran the Houston Marathon Sunday with a personal record time of 5:15:58 Not speedy by any stretch of the imagination, but with no notice and no training, I am ridiculously pleased!
  13. Phew, made it all the way through week 1 without imploding! I think overall this is going to be a successful challenge, but something I am noticing is that once again, I think I've set too many goals. I think cross training while running is super important, at this time in my life I think trying to keep the NF workout as a mandatory part of my challenge might be a bad idea as far as what I'm realistically able to achieve on a daily basis. At this time I'm going to take that out of my challenge. I still do quite a bit of cross training as far as running stairs putting away laundry, squats when putting away dishes, and that kind of thing so I will not feel guilty removing this. By taking this away this early in the challenge, I believe I'm setting myself up for more success in the other areas, including reducing guilt for not doing something, and allowing more time to work on the other elements AND most importantly, allowing for time with the kids and the ever elusive ME time.! Look for a weekend recap soon
  14. Getting this one in under the wire, but just barely! Today was one of those days that just kind of flew by. I didn’t get in any pullup work or any of my studying but I PROMISE I will work on that! Like I was saying- today, was just too cool; I got passes to go to Moody Gardens- I’ve lived here in Houston for 16 years and I’ve never been, so I’m taking 3 of the kids on Sunday! Then I got an email for a really cool opportunity that I’ll be sharing more about next week! I can’t wait to tell y’all about it! I really wanted to skip my run today. I just wanted to collapse on the couch and do nothing but I knew if I did, I’d feel like I was falling behind on my mileage goal and that’s when things start falling apart for me. When I start to feel behind, I get overwhelmed at playing catch up and eventually I just feel defeated and quit. I don’t want to let that happen with my running goal this year so I laced up and told myself if I just did 5 miles I could stop. Today was sprints on the Nerdfitness workout and by the time I hit 5 I was feeling really strong so I decided I could probably do another mile. I remembered as I hopped off the treadmill panting, that I’d promised to run a mile in honor of a friend who has MS and can’t run, let-a-lone work out like he’d like to so I climbed back on that treadmill and hauled ass for on final mile!
