  1. Still on it. I've resumed PT as well. Only the sit-ups are still on hold. First week of challenge: check!
  2. This topic is too quiet. Are you still on track with your challenge?
  3. Forgot to check in yesterday, but I'm still going strong. Dishes are done, going for daily walks and do regular stretches. Day 3: check Day 4: check
  4. Update: washed the dishes again and did my stretches. The sit-ups will have to wait a bit, as I had surgery on my lower belly last Friday and it's just too sore. I did go for a 40 min walk today, so all in all pretty pleased with how it's going. Day 2: check.
  5. My goodness, look at you go! lol @ you not wanting to rush this. You're going at lightning speed. Great job!
  6. Welcome to NF. Starting small sounds like a good plan. Glad you got started. Take it one day at a time and just keep going. You got this.
  7. Excited to get started today. First challenge is a thing! Surgery went well and today I did was all my dishes and took a little walk outside. I think it's wise if I report back here frequently, to keep me focused. Day 1: check
  8. I know, right! The thing is, I do frequently cook for myself and actually like eating veggies, but sometimes the kitchen is too much of a mess to even begin cooking. So I figured I'd get into the habit of washing my dishes, to enable me took cook every day.
  9. I'm not much of a morning person, so I won't set any goals for the morning. Ever. Getting up is enough of a challenge on its own
  10. Breast cancer survivor here. Life has thrown a lot of nastiness at us, time to show it who's boss. Let's do this. @Rafael Martin
  11. Hi and welcome from another noob at NerdFitness. I'm sort of in the same boat as you, except my cancer was breast cancer and my treatments were this year. It is a lot of fun to get started and feel like you are getting your grip on life back. Go you!
  12. Time to get serious with this. I've been getting my feet wet a little around here, but if I want to accomplish something, I need to work on it. Now, I guess the holiday season isn't the most ideal to start and to make it even more problematic, I'm having surgery December 2nd, so I'm not sure how up and about I will be by the start of these 4 weeks. But since I have to start sometime, now is as good as anytime. Goals for this first challenge: wash all the dishes every day go to rehab twice a week do my stretches and sit-ups three times a week That's it. Should be doable, but I'd rather start small and have a decent chance of accomplishing my goals than fail mightily on the first try.
  13. Currently reading The Gates of Hell by Michael Livingston. It part 2 of the Shards of Heaven series. Historical fiction, set in ancient Roman times, lot of action and a nice touch of magic. Love it.
  14. Another way of putting in veggies is by making soup, especially nice now that it's getting colder (depending on where you live, obviously). I really love this recipe: carrot and coconut cream soup. It's very easy to do and the great thing about soups is that it's just as much trouble making a little bit as it is making a huge pan. So I usually make a lot, eat a bowl today, have some the next day and stuff the rest in the freezer. Also, since you say you like spinach, you could try making a green omelet. Green omelet recipe. Depending on your appetite you could use 2 or 3 eggs and blend it with as much spinach as you like. Bake it in a pan and there you have it. Good luck!
  15. Hi all, I just joined, because I'm on a quest to get my health and my life back. I'm a 41 y/o woman and will go by Mechthild on this forum. The name means "mighty warrior" and that's what I am. I've spent most of this year in treatment for breast cancer. Lost my hair, my strength and stamina and some body parts in the process, but things are looking good and I'm very slowly working my way back up. For now, I do rehab with a physical therapist twice a week, but eventually I want to incorporate more estab in my daily routine. This is the perfect time to start building a new routine. I've been eating Paleo-ish since about a year before I got cancer and I believe that is one of the reasons why I went through treatment as well as I did. However, I was and still am pretty overweight, so losing that is one of my goals. There is not so much you can do to prevent cancer from returning, but anything I can do, I will. Since treatment put me into sudden menopause I also need to be alert on the possibility of osteoporosis. Healthy eating (getting enough vit D, calcium and magnesium) and brisk walking can help prevent that, so that's on my list as well. Goals: lose weight (get BMI under 30) establish a daily fitness routine get stronger work on stamina I guess I'm not your average newbie here, but I'm definitely motivated to get going.
