  1. Hey, better late than never. Welcome to the challenges. I love your goals, and I can totally relate about the clean sink. When I was living with housemates, this was my biggest pet peeve. If they left the sink full of dishes I would get aggravated and stressed. They could leave a mess just about anywhere else and I would just be like, meh, whatever. But that sink...haha.
  2. Haha, this title is the story of my life. I wish you the best on your quest. I am glad you could join us, even if it is a tiny bit late.
  3. Keeping water around is an excellent trick. I always keep a glass of water near me. Sometimes I will get the Trenta size cups at Starbucks and just refill that about three times (almost three liters) per day. Yeah, that makes sense. I weight between 142-146 depending on the week, so that would explain why I can't quite keep up with a gallon.
  4. Welcome HoosierCheetah, it looks like you have some healthy, balanced quests and some great challenge goals to take you in the right direction. Keep up the good work! Also, just curious, do you find it comfortable to drink a gallon of water a day? I have tried doing it in the past, and unless I am super dehydrated or working out a lot (or out in the heat), it makes me feel a bit sick if I drink that much water in a day. I have found my body seems to do best with an average between 2-3 liters.
  5. I have such a love-hate relationship with oil pulling. I don't enjoy the process, but it is so effective. On the rare occasion that I do it, I do it first thing in the morning before I eat or drink anything (except for water). Great goals, Cornelia!
  6. These are some great goals. By the way, I love the way you themed them. I want to try this with a challenge sometime.
  7. Welcome Azizah! These are some awesome goals. I wish you the best on your quest this month.
  8. Wait, DIY night guards are a thing? I need this in my life. I was told years ago I should get a night guard (after I dislocated my jaw in my sleep...apparently I clench my teeth at night when I am stressed), but I always put it off because of the cost.
  9. Currently reading Goethe, Thiek, Fouque and Brento: Romantic Fairy Tales by Penguin Classics. I am almost done with it, and I must say, German Romantics did not write your run of the mill fairy tales, but they are pretty interesting and a good read.
  10. Oh wow, you have so many goals, but they are all so awesome. Definitely following.
  11. I love your Quests and the way you set up a grading system for them. Everything is so nicely detailed and organized. I have thought about starting a Walk to Mordor as well, especially now that I have a Fitbit and it is easier to track my steps. I wish you well. Following
  12. Hello fellow Rebel questers. You want a gif, eh? Despite being from the age of gifs, I have never actually posted one, so hopefully I do this right. Haha! I think I figured it out. Seriously, how did a take a year of Web Design back in high school and never learned about these things, even though gifs were popular at the time? Oh well. Anyway, as for my hero, I am going to go with my real-life hero/inspirational historical person: Leonardo de Vinci. I find his story so inspiring. He could not train to go into the regular work force because he was an illegitimate child, so his father got him an apprenticeship with a painter. Not only did he make the best of his circumstances and because one of the most remembered painters in history, he also pursued his intellectual passion and made major contributions to the fields of biology, physics, botany, and anatomy. I am both an intellectual and a creative, so he has been an inspiration to stick to both instead of letting people tell me I just need to be one or the other. When people told me I was too smart and was wasting my abilities being a vocal performance major in college, I stuck to it anyway. When academic/intellectual expectations were low for performance majors, I bucked the trend and did as well in my science and humanity courses as I did in my music courses. You can be both, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Hybrids are awesome...can you see why I am a Rebel?

We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?" ~ Marianne Williamson

  14. I have actually already started a thread in the Rebel guild of the challenges, so I am prepping for my first challenge on the forums. Thank you for all the helpful links. My first challenge is here: Let the games begin...
  15. Thanks for the explanation @Wobbegong. I think I will have to start a battle log sometime. They look like a lot of fun, and I need all the accountability I can get, haha.
  16. @KimShea, don't worry, as mentioned above, weight fluctuation is perfectly normal. As someone who obsessively weighed myself for years (but not anymore), I can tell you that weight can fluctuate like 5 pounds (or even more), even on a daily basis. If you are drinking more water than usual, happened to have a higher sodium meal, had more sugar or carbs than usual, and a host of other things can cause you to temporarily hold onto water weight. Women's weight also tends to fluctuate a lot depending on the time of month. If your weight has gone up, don't be discouraged, especially if you have lost inches. As said above, it can also be an increase in muscle mass. You have recently changed up your lifestyle and your body is trying to adjust. Give it a few more weeks, you will see the scale start to reflect your new habits.
  17. Hey @Diadhuit, these look like great goals. I love the way you set up a grading system. I think I might try that sometime, as it seems like a great way to set the bar high, but prevent giving up just because you missed a day. I wish you well on your journey!
