  1. My take on this is I'll do whatever the hell I want and no one else's idea of "proper" or embarrassment will stop me from having my vintage bush peek out, regardless of what I choose to wear. With that said, I enjoy annoying my husband from time to time and use his beard trimmer.
  2. I read this on another thread as a challenge to do at work. I'm going to incorporate it today. I wish I had a non-stuff, full of old ladies office that I could get them all to do it too. Planking Monday Push Ups Tuesday Squats on Wednesday Dips on Thursday Pike push ups Friday
  3. This is just one month? So much progress! Your back rolls are less; the side boob (that's how I describe it) has much less hanging out of your bra; your butt looks smaller and your breasts don't look like they hang over as far. Congrats.
  4. I'm on a different quest, in addition to this challenge, to be mindful of my paleo eating. This weekend I purposely let myself eat non-paleo foods but not go crazy with the junk. I've been eating a lot paleo, though and the other day I tried some french fries. Not filling at all. They didn't taste as great as I remember and they had an odd texture. I never thought I would push french fries away but I did. They just didn't do it for me. I'm really glad my taste buds and textures are changing.
  5. Morning everyone. Green smoothie breakfasts - did well the first 3 days then fell off the wagon. I took my mixer back home instead of trying to make these at work. I did well making them the night before and leaving them in the fridge. Playing with my kids - did Monday and Wednesday and then didn't get a third day in. Get some sun - although it wasn't with my kids, I went to a local community garden during my Permaculture class and helped out on Saturday. On Sunday I spent time weeding the front yard while the kids went nuts over the Easter Bunny visiting the night before. Then went to my grandmothers to enjoy a picnic in the backyard with family and friends. Get rid of stuff - identified toys to box up for the flea market and trashed half the kids' stuffed animals. We'll go for books and craft items this week. Total boxed last week: 15 For this/upcoming weeks I think I need to do 3 items a day to make it not so overwhelming at the end of the week. I think I'll just hold off on the pictures until we're all done. This week's stats Hips: 49 (down 1 inch) Waist: 42 (up .75 inch) Weight: 232.8 (down 1.6 pounds)
  6. Thanks for stopping by ladies. I'm exhausted. Stayed up last night to watch the eclipse and the had to wake up at 4 30 am to get ready for work. I'm so happy I have a great big old desk in my office so I can hide under it and nap on my breaks. Yesterday's food Breakfast - green smoothie. Snack - two hard boiled eggs and handful of cashews Lunch - big green salad with chicken. 2 small egg rolls, no sauce. Snack - chips, pretzels and cashews Dinner - kielbasa skillet with chard and onions. Brussels sprouts with butter. A friend came over yesterday and we let the kids tire themselves out with JDFK (Just Dance For Kids) and then she and I had a dance off after I put them to bed. Got a pretty good sweat going and a lot of arm work so much that my biceps and tri's were tired. I think today I'll do a BBWW just to keep me moving. So here's my stats Hips: 50 Waist: 41.25 Weight: 234.4 (my weight fluctuates 3-4 pounds all the time that's why yesterday I posted that I was 231. On Saturday I was 231) I hesitated posting my photos today. I realized I was in a bra and yoga pants just now. And while a bra covers just as much as a bikini I don't know of it's content appropriate.
  7. I sometimes wonder if I have depression as well. It runs in my family but it comes and goes so it could just be situational and not chemical. I wanted to stop by and say you are a brave troll woman for putting your photo out there. I'm proud of you for doing that and I don't even know you. Tonight I'm posting my photos as well, bare stomach too. Good luck on this challenge!
  8. Seems we have similar goals. I'm trying to get healthier for my kids and getting rid of stuff, mostly for a likely move out of state but also because all that clutter and stuff is visually overwhelming and ticks me off every time I come home. Oh and my knees click too. They have since I was 15 and in great shape.
  9. I love love love your challenge. Especially the elements and writing goals. Good luck, I'll be rooting for you.
  10. My husband had a colon cancer scare a couple weeks ago. Since then I've been thinking long and hard about WTF would happen to my young kids if both of us were gone while they were still young due to possibly preventable diseases (I know some folks just get colon cancer but while my husband is a lean guy he doesn't eat the most healthy foods. Pepsi and a cigarette are his breakfast - yes we can add in the risk of esophagus cancer and lung cancer too.). And I'm not full of yippee like the previous challenges I've started and not finished. I'm very low-key this time. It's just something that has to be done without a lot of hype around it. I think it's a lot easier for me to eat healthy than it will be for him to kick a caffeine and nicotine habit. That's not to say he shouldn't start being better about his body...he should and he knows it. He's currently making steps at his own pace to level up and I'm super proud of him. So my Main Quest - Lose 100 Pounds. I'm 231 (size 20 USA) today, 4/14/14. I'd like to be, and maintain 130 pounds (or a size 7). Steps to my Main Quest for this challenge: Get my greens - I have organic veggies delivered to my door every other week and am not a fan of cooking them. But I don't mine them in my smoothies. So daily breakfast to include a green smoothie. Workout 3x week with my kids - we have Wii's Just Dance IV and Kids Just Dance. My kids love these games even if they don't do much with them. I also have Zumba on Wii. Get some sun on the weekends - I don't get out much during the week since I'm in an office and only get a 1/2 hour lunch. On the weekends I need to spend as much time as reasonable tending the garden and playing with my kids outside. This will also be great for my sanity and avoiding my kids' cabin fever. Life Quest - Minimize and downsize. We might be moving out of state next year. I've requested quotes of moving trucks and they range from $1200 for U-Haul (that I'll have to also pay the gas) and $6200 for PODS. If I reduce the amount of stuff I own and do it gradually over the next year I won't be so overwhelmed and it'll take up less space on the moving trucks. So my goal is to get rid of 100 things over the next 6 weeks (or identify 100 things to sell at the flea market/yard sale at the end of May). And because I'm a nerd, that breaks down to 16+ items a week, 2+ items a day. I think 3 items a day is reasonable.
  11. I'm back. I'm sorry I dropped off the face of the earth. I get in a funk and just don't want to report in but I'm having issues with a co-worker and got out of the office on Monday to clear my head. I did Zombies, Run! and am feeling refreshed. So I'm going to start posting all my food again but in the interest of integrity I have to catch you up on the last couple of weeks. The short and sweet of it is that I had 2/7 days completely paleo both weeks. I do very well at meals but snacking is where I screw it all up. I haven't gone to yoga. Except for Monday this week, I haven't walked. So that all changes today.
  12. Do you all blend your cauliflower? I love the consistency of mashed potatoes, the cauliflower rice consistency just didn't resonate with me. If I can get mashed cauliflower reasonably close to mashed potato consistency then I'll be willing to try it. Speaking of cauliflower, I keep seeing purple cauliflower on TV. none of my stores or local produce stands have it. Is it just seasonal?
  13. That is pretty impressive, Alex. Yesterday I took advantage of the nice weather when I got home from work and let the kids play on the slide out back while I slayed a few weeded dragons. I've got waist-high foxtails in my backyard and instead of using a lawn mower to take them all down I'm taking advantage of the exercise opportunity and shoveling them out by hand. My husband built me a pallet compost bin and I've been putting the weeds in there. I have a big backyard, there's a lot of weeds. I'm only about 3/4 full on the compost bin. I might have him build me another one. I'm really getting into permaculture and paleo as a partnership. I can't afford organic produce at the store but I sure can grow it myself. And last year I had some home-grown tomatoes, ran out, bought some at the store, and spit the store ones out because they tasted like paper. My husband built me some standing raised beds last year so I didn't have to bend over. My neighbor and I both maintain the beds and we both reap the benefits of the produce. She loves it when I make fresh salsa from all the ingredients. And we have green onions year round. This year I want tomatoes year round so my husband built me two more raised beds for the backyard and he'll be putting together a hoop house to keep the tomatoes toasty. I also ordered 50 saffron corms and hope to get my own personal stash of the spice. I'll probably plant basil and chives with the saffron and tomatoes for a winter harvest. I don't think I can get it warm enough for bell peppers though. But my permaculture research is just mind-blowing. I can't wait to really put planting guilds into practice and create a food forest in my backyard. All the digging and lifting will be a great workout too.
  14. Does mashed cauliflower really taste that good? I love cauliflower with a load of butter and a bit of salt but I tried cauliflower "rice" once and it sucked. I'm a girl who loves to try new foods and I've eaten a lot of new things in my life that I love immediately. Cauliflower rice is not one of those things.
