  1. 6/27 - C25K at 0600!!! Got my happy @$$ out of bed, threw on the not so attractive running gear, grabbed the iphone and hit the pavement. 2.07 miles, exactly 30 mins. Little sluggish in the morning and in comparison to Tuesdays session - I had walked for like 1/2 a mile before I realized the program had not started. LOL. Wrapped up with some ab work and stretching. Good start to the day.
  2. Battle Log started...feel free to comment and critique. I need all the support I can get.
  3. 6/26 - starting morning with my yoga Sun Salutation, great way to wake up and get the blood flowing. Today is a sailing day, and out of the norm - I am not assigned to a boat, but will he helping with the race committee. In all honesty, I forgot I was not sailing and should have substituted the yoga for a walk or a quick BW workout. I may do that when I get home, but sometimes that is really late in the evening. Food today - so far, very similar to yesterday but the lunch salad was basically leftovers from dinner. Planning on some chicken and steamed veggies for dinner, and have a grapefruit staring at me for a snack in a couple hours. Feel like I am getting my head back in the game now. Staying focused.
  4. Will be checking in here at least once a week, and possibly daily. Long term goal - daily fitness and healthy eating are habitual, like breathing. Result of this habit are endless with the obvious being weight loss and healthy weigh maintenance, able to wear clothes that do not pinch and bind and I feel GREAT. I have energy and positive outlook on life as a result of making these changes. Short term goal - lose 5+ lbs by 7/6, more would be better, but I know I need to start with small obtainable milestones to be successful. How will I achieve this short term goal that will effectively push to the long term goal: recording my work outs (here) and food intake (here and on myfitness pal). I like the idea of weekly picture too to track physical changes. Even though weight loss is a goal, I know that i do better monitoring progress with clothes versus a flippin scale. Plan for this week (6/24 - 7/1): restart my Couch to 5K program, using this at least 3 times during this week. Non-running days will be my body weight work out days. I had made it to week 8 of the C25K program at the begining of the year, but fell off after I messed up a knee doing a bootcamp workout on the beach. Since then I have been really favoring the leg and got lazy. So, when you fall - you get back up and keep going and yesterday I did just that - restarted the program at week one, day 1. I was anxious, but after the warm up I felt good, knee felt good and I got through 2.45 miles in 25:14. Not setting any PRs (yet), but I completed the session with ease. For those that do not know, C25K is an interval training program that starts with a long walk warm up, and then short jogs for about a minute. Over time the walks whittle down and run intervals increase. Near the final weeks you are running for 25 and 30 minute intervals. I never thought I could run for more than 10 mins, but I cleared the 30 minute event and I will again. I do have a 5k in Augs, so this is a good training time. I ended the day with some ab work and lots of good stretching - knee is doing fine. Food yesterday: Breakfast: Choc. Shakeology, almond milk, 1/2 a banana and 1 tsp natural pb. Snack: peach Lunch: Big ASS salad with grilled chicken, light champagne vinegrette Snack: for lack of anything else - about 10 pita chips. just needed crunchy Dinner: Grilled flat iron steak, more salad. Snack: pre dinner - about 5 baby carrots guilty pleasure - glass of organic cabernet, and I spilt half of it on my keyboard while I was WoWing...(karma)
  5. Thanks for the support. I think I will set up a scary drill sargent sound on my phone to get me outta bed. You all recommend the Battle log for goals and status updates???
  6. Going to live on a boat - really.

  7. Hi NF Family, name is Kat - been here for a while - watching everyone else level up, gear up and move on. I have had a couple brief wins (lost about 15 lbs a few months back) but I failed to keep my head in the game, got lazy and complacent assuming what I had done would just carry on without effort and now I am back to the start zone. I am no spring chicken (whatever that means) yet I refuse to let age be a factor as I intend to stay active for many years to come. However, I am not happy in my skin. I am flying solo and really want to meet a nice guy and I know you attract what you put out - I cannot be a slobby troll and expect a hot Blood Elf to want to take me out for a spin on his flying carpet. As you can see, I am an MMO addict -WoW, GW2, Rift, LoL, PoE (latest time suck) and the idea of turning RL into game like missions and quest is encouraging. I just need some scary ORC to come beat on my door at 0600 and tell me to run for my life to get me off my butt. Any volunteers?? I know what to do, how to do - I just need to dew it, so I am here for the support aspect that is missing, the accountability factor. I am going to post my short term and long term goals on the tracker post. Feel free to chime in with words of encouragement, etc. I am really looking forward to making some new friends with similar goals and interest.
  8. 5/7 - Week two...took a couple days to recover from a very intense Bootcamp session last week. I was still very sore on Sat, but knew the key was to keep moving, so Sunday I spent a good bit of my morning walking from Mission Beach to Bird Rock and back. Just moving and stretching and keeping up a solid pace. It was so perfect out - this did not feel like working out at all. SO if that is the case - am I fooling myself, again??? Anyhow - something was better than nothing. I did cave on food yesterday though - breakfast burrito from Roberto's. I did not eat it all - at once. I spaces it out over like 3.5 hours, then chicken and fresh corn on the cob for dinner. Then to further to hole i was digging, i feel for an ice cream run at 9pm. Not sure why, I just did. BUT - I am going to focus focus focus this week. C25K run - week 2 tonight, a little sauna to help with the muscle recovery - now sore from the sunday push. and then bootcamp tomorrow. I will be joined by the ICE Cream taunting family members - so this is payback. Offer me ice cream again you evil people. One of them is going to hurl. LOL.
  9. This is so fun!!! Like watching a couple Knights battle it out! Good Luck Gentlemen!!!
  10. 5/3 Update - on my lunch break,, eating homemade Chicken Tikka Masala - the stuff my daughter made abut 2 weeks ago. We froze a batch and it is even better than I remembered. My mouth is on fire though !!! Also my BIG ASS Salad - this is a daily menu item. Massive salad keeps the hungries away later in the day!!! So, BOOTCAMP session two takes places this evening. I am looking forward to it, going a little more prepared (weight, towel, water, mat) this time. I did get up and run yesterday morning using my C25K podcast and felt great. I had sailing races last night - unfortunately my role in the races island based for now, but hoping to score a crew position here and there over the season. Regardless, I cannot complain about hanging out at a Yatch Club on the beautiful bay on a weeknight with fellow sailors. Only down side to this event is the food, I did get a burger, but sans bun and cheese and with Sweet Potato fies. Shared those, but ate the heck outta that burger. Tomorrow is a run day, and then more sailing stuff on Sat. Would like to do a nice Hike on Sun, and rinse and repeat most of the same for next week. stay tuned - might post some before pics later this week. They were taken the first week of April when I started the NF Beginer Weight Circut. I have not seem much change between now and then, but I do not think I was pushing as hard as I could. I am up-ing the intensity now...i will make changes!!!
  11. Hello - quick update. My bootcamp is with a personal trainer I met when living at my previous apt community. He did classes there and I stayed in touch. This boocamp is conducted at a local park near my house, so it will be outdoors and I have no idea what I have gotten myself into. I know his classes in the past were rather intense, so I am excited. I will let you all know how it goes. I think one of our week 1 challenges was to post something fun - like a new recipe. So here goes. My family is experimenting with the Primal/Paleo lifestyle, so we have removed all pasta, rice, bread, and other processed food from the house. It is challenging to be honest, but I find I really do not miss the overstuffed, bloated feeling I would get after eating an oversize plate of pasta, rice or even potatoes. Last night I threw together some onions, bell peppers and ground beef, seasoned with salt/pepper and paprika for a sort of goulash, and then served it over cauliflower rice. I love cauliflower rice and cauliflower mashed "potatoes". This is huge for me - I was not a fan of the cauliflower for most of my life and now it is becomig a staple. We made Chicken Tikka Masala last week and served that over the CF Rice and wow...delish. Did not miss the rice at all. Plus I felt really good about what i was eating - whole, clean food. More to come as we grow into our cave man ways!!!

So this site has been like finding gold for me. I cannot say how many times I found myself jealous of a toon running tirelessly from one quest to another, thinking - I wish I could do this in real life and now I am!!!! I live in a beautiful state with endless places to roam. I am either hiking or sailing when I am not working or gaming. I am recently divorced and the last few years have been an emotional roller coaster with my physical and mental state suffering. I am tired of being average and normal, so I am making changes. Furthermore, my 30 year reunion is looming - and it is a "family" event being held on the beach and I want to rock and shock. I think that covers it all for now...if I missed anything or there is something more you all want to know about ME-holler. So now, I guess I just keep posting to let you all know how I am doing - yes????
  13. Thank you all for the postive feedback. I have to say that this site has helped me find my mojo again. I wanted to change things up a bit last night, so I thought I'd be supper cool and do the fitness level of Dance Central 2 with the kennect...HA HA HA - pulled a muscle. Note to self - warm up before you wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. LOL
  14. I found the site while searching "how to do pull ups", not that I do not know how, I was just looking for some pointers. Anyhow, Hi my name is Kat and I am a gaming addict. I am making some major changes in my life and I intend to make 2012 a milestone year. Yes I want to lose weight, but I want that to be just a result of other changes - eating clean (primal focus) and making fitness part of my routine - like brushing my teeth! I love how this site relates health and fitness to something very close to my heart. I love gaming as much as I love food. I have to eat, I have to game - so I am re-educating myself as to how to do both in moderation. I am an avid MMORPG gamer - WOW, SWTOR primarily. Putting the gaming ideology to work in my RL is perfect. I have always wanted to run like my toons; effortlessly running through the woods (in Skyrim they get tired, silly idea developer guy), shooting at things, wearing cool leather stuff - healing people and saving the masses. I look at doing my workouts like doing Daliys! HA! Sorry - guys, I gotta do Daily's or I cannot level up my LIFE!!!!! I can meet you at the INN or Cantina later. I am going to max out my RL cooking and my other profession will be Sailing. I know that is not a gaming thing, but it is a BIG part of my life. I am going to get my sailing certs this summer - I will be the Captain of my own ship (boat) when I hit level cap. So - that is me and when I am not busy doing Dailies - in and out of game, I will check in to see how you are all doing.
