  1. Tuesday and Thursday workouts went well! the jump squats are really working out my legs more than I thought they would! Sunday (today) I didn't do a workout, but I was out in Santa Barbara for the weekend (6 hour drive for me) I did however do alot of walking this weekend and continued on my planks: one more second each day! today was 1:14 plank funny story, I thought I'd sneak in a plank and some pushups before I started my day in the hotel while the girl I'm dating was taking a shower. I didn't really tell her I have these workout goals yet, so she looked confused when she came out of the bathroom to see me planking on the floor timing myself with my phone!!!! I'm too exausted for a full workout right now, so maybe I'll do something tomorrow!
  2. Thanks! yes the con went great but it was a bit draining, didnt get home till 1AM on Monday morning/sunday night so I didnt get to this write-up yesterday! Time to finish what I started and set a schedule for the month! so because of the crazy rain we are getting down here in California I think I'm going to hold off on going out to practice parkour, unless I get a nice dry day this month I'm going to stay indoors mostly. but that might give me more time to condition and get more familiar with body weight training! I'm going to try and stay away from weights if i go to the gym atall. now for what everyone is interested in. I've worked out my Jedi Workout Routine! So I'm going to say most of my ideas came straight from Steve's post! https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/the-star-wars-workout-jedi-training-101/ I stole alot from it actually, so I'm going to encorage all you to read it if you havent already. I picked and chose from it what I wanted to work on and modified as i saw fit, I'm going to focus on warmups (since I rarely do them), balance, explosive moments, and some static holds The Warmup: 50 Jumping Jacks 10 lunges 20 squats 15 regular pushups OR substitute the squats and pushups for 15 "long jump" Burpees (Im adding this for the explosive movment of it.... and its fun for me! might not be able to do in my room tho....) The "Starwars" Workout "Jedi High Jumps" 3 sets of 10 jump squats "Jabba the Hut Chokes" 3 sets of 8 bodyweight rows "Han Solo Shuttle Runs" 6 sets of 20 second shuttle runs "Force Pushups" 4 sets of 8 Plyometric Push-ups "Force (Balance) Training" 1 min. Plank, 5 min. Crow Pose practice, and 5min handstand practice Thats my routine and I'm sticking to it!! I set a schedule for myself 3 times a week (Sun. Tes. Thurs) I'll be updating as I go along! thanks guys for following my post, and sorry for the late update!

  4. This write up is going to be really rushed, but I'm leaving for a convention (Sac Anime) soon, I'm working a booth there and I know I wont have time to write this up later if I dont start it now! So this might need editing or updating later! but lets put the basics in for now!!! It's 2017! a new year and that means new beginnings! I'm going to get really serious about transitioning into body weight training and parkour training in the next year! Goals for the year: (will be updated later with more spesifics) - Eat healthy, be diciplined and cook more at home instead of eating out -I want to be able to do a handstand at the end of the year, long term goal is to work up to one handed handstands -planks everyday, strart at 1min, add 1 sec. each day (got this idea off someone else from the FB page) -get comfortable with parkour, go out to some local jams and meet people -follow my weekly schedule I set for myself, and workout 3-4 times a week I thought I'd do something fun to start the year and do a Jedi style challenge for the next 4 weeks that means a emphasis on balance (like handstands and crowpose) meditation and proper warmups I'll write that all out later and make a routine for myself on monday when im back from work! while I'm away feel free to post any suggestions! Also If any of you happen to be in Sacramento for the con. come visit "The Comic Shop" 's booth If I'm not there tell them Luke told you to stop by (yes my names Luke, and my screenname is Skywalker..... im a dork!! ) This post needs polishing, but I'll fix that on Monday! I promise!
  5. (idk how to delete that other one... so ima keep going 4 now) Okay Okay last day of the challenge so i got to put some kind of update right!?!? im really busy right now so I got to make this quick Im scrubbing the walls of my house with a toothbrush b4 tonight I got a girl coming over to my house for newyears (more on that later in this post) first lets go over my goals and where i am with them now at the end of the month this month was kinda a respawn for me, or a trial for the respawn of next year! trying to get a headstart on 2017. so keep that in mind!! cut out a lot of bread and starch, eat more vegetables I did okay here, I got broke halfway thru because I paid off my Car insurance in full for the year. so i didnt get to go to the store the second half of the month and get decent ingrediants. just ate whatever was in the house! I'll have to fix this next month/year! Follow my gym schedule I set for myself (Sunday Tuesday and Thursday are mandatory gym days, sneak an extra on Fri or Sat if up for it) so I injured myself and had to take it easy. I learned the importance of not training too much! next month/year should be better! I did however stick to my schedule. I atleast did some good stretching and balance training while i was injureed on my scheduled workout days!! Transition to more body weight exercises I aced this! No more weights for me! I learned some great body weight exercises to start training with next year/month. very happy with my progress here! I actually went out and did a bit of parkour too! my lines were pretty cool looking! we have video, but I havent posted it to the interwebs yet! there will be more to come later tho i promise!!!! Get into a more healthy mindset and more positive attitude by the end of the month If you havent already go to the top and read the discription of this one first. Iv'e gotten over that chick pretty quickly, thanks to the support of the guys over at the NF Facebook group!!! Found a girl on Tinder who has the same motorcycle as me, started dating her. spent the last 3 days in a row going on dates with her since we r both on vacation from work for the holidays tonight shes coming over to watch the fireworks from my house for new years I'm definitly in a better state of mind and back to my positive self at the end of this month! Feels great! I'm very hopeful for 2017, and also sad to see 2016 go. I've learned so much about myself in 2016. and even that breakup or some of the other horrible stuff i havent touched on here (like getting my car stolen in the begining of the year) cant overshadow all the great things that have happened this year!! Thats is for now! back to cleaning my filthy house! Bathrooms next on the list! xP Learning from the past, and moving on towards the future!! 2017 here I come!
  6. Okay Okay last day of the challenge so i got to put some kind of update right!?!? im really busy right now so I got to make this quick Im scrubbing the walls of my house with a toothbrush b4 tonight I got a girl coming over to my house for newyears (more on that later in this post) first lets go over my goals and where i am with them now at the end of the month cut out a lot of bread and starch, eat more vegetables
  7. I think its great if you dont know where to start, and you want a set schedule to do the exercises they give you Ive found the achivements more helpful for motivating myself than the "boss battles" but thats just me the most valubale thing of all I think is the acess to the facebook group those guys are a great support team! the best ive ever had!
  8. ive been doing something similar, just arching my back while standing it really hurts my core to stretch it like that, but now I can get more movement than i could last week! im thinking another half a week and I should be okay
  9. Thursday the 22nd! Work is over till the new year Wooooo! vacation! My buddy from highschool is back from the marines for the holidays so ive been hanging out with him and getting into shenanigans the last couple days. doing okay on my diet goals. but since I paid off some extra bills this week I got to wait till friday when my check comes thru to do more grocery shopping. until then I got to watch my cash!! Had to skip tuesday workout. my core mucles are still hurting as im typing this. but its getting better, so im not worried. the healing process is just taking a bit. i really messed myself up over training!! Tonight I'm getting together with some of my old freinds who used to do parkour. I'm getting them back into it. and we are going to go do some training. but not until after I meetup with the girl I had been dating for dinner. I never gave the full details, because its one of those "complicated" things but we never really talked about what happened. she had my best freind tell me she wanted to be "just friends" so tonight we are gonna exchange presents (instead of spending christmas together) and I'm gonna bring it up Im prepared for the worst. I just want some closure and to know what happened I've already come to terms with it. its just time to rip that bandaid off so the pain is over!! I'll update later if I get a chance! This month I think the mental goals I set for myself have been taking front stage! im already getting ready for the new year and my new goals. very exited for 2017!
  10. Im pretty good at not engaging or saying something stupid. I did that in the past and learned it helps no one I dont feel better, and it makes them think less of me
  11. so im going to write my sunday log a bit early while I have some time went to the local marina and found this gem! Did some light workouts in this area, but focused mainly on balance since I'm still sore from last week Did some Sloth rows and pushups on top of the bars like a cool kid! I actually talked to some NF members this morning in the chatroom who advised me to take it easy and make this a "active rest" day for myself (Redstone and Ada were very helpful!!) ate the breakfast burritos I made a couple of days ago for breakfast and lunch Struggled a bit with the girlfriend thing for a moment when I saw her posts on the interwebs about her day... I miss her, but I snapped myself out of it pretty quickly I'm sure in a month or two this wont even bother me anymore. just got to keep moving forward and take life as it comes! Now I'm on my way to band practice for the night!! was a pretty productive day!
  12. yeah I've always noticed alot of ppl there on mondays and wenesdays. so I've tried to avoid those days if possible!
  13. Hayward/Castrovalley here! my class is assasin! anyone want to train together or go on some local adventures!?!?! (also looking for some motorcycle buddies, been riding solo for about a year now. always on Redwood Rd. when I get a chance!)
  14. okay so I've been apart of the Nerd Fitness Academy for awhile now, and have been making many changes in my life for the better. setting goals for myself and achieving those goals for some time now. but I never wrote them down anywhere and never took advantage of these forums. Well now that I am familiar with living a healthier life, and going to the gym and working out, I think it is time to start taking it to the next level and making my goals and progress public so it is harder to be okay with failing. (not that I was okay with failing before!!) I'm very new to forums in general, and even newer to the Assassin's guild, but I'm going to try to master both! (hopefully with your help) I know I'm starting this challenge late, but I can't wait till next month to start, besides, I already have goals I've been working on this month but its just been an internal thing. consider this just a late post. as I am sticking with the goals I have made, just making myself much more accountable! since we are halfway thru the challenge I'll update you as to where I'm at with these goals now I plan to do more updates every few days DIET GOALS: cut out a lot of bread and starch, eat more vegetables (Cut out bread and beer so far, I'm sticking with tortillas for now. maybe I'll try lettuce wraps in the future) (bought tons of vegetables at the store and came up with some yummy meals, my favorite this month was Cajun Garlic Shrimp Noodle Bowls!!) Cook my own meals for work instead of buying food at the cafeteria (They got me at the company Christmas party, one turkey dinner couldn't hurt right? I mean it is the holidays, plus I'm a skinny guy who can't seem to gain weight, this is more of a concern for my wallet than my stomach!) FITNESS GOALS: Follow my gym schedule I set for myself (Sunday Tuesday and Thursday are mandatory gym days, sneak an extra on Fri or Sat if up for it) (put my schedule on my whiteboard calendar to help me remember and be accountable) (been there every mandatory day so far, Tuesday had me so sore that I've been resting this weekend, but Sunday morning I'm getting right into it!) (Went to the gym with a friend on Tuesday for his "leg day" after my 3 mile run Sunday... it killed me and I over worked myself. but I'm recovering and will be much more careful in the future) Transition to more body weight exercises I usually do weight lifting or swimming for exercise, I want to mix things up and get into the assassin spirit by trying some basic body weight training and see how my body reacts to it (last week I focused on exercises like sit-ups, push-ups (standard, close grip, and side-step) dips, ring-rows and squats) will continue working and will start recording my reps and progression) (I've been lifting weights for some time now, but for some reason after body weight training my tendons in my joints are more sore than my actual muscle, don't know if this is normal or if i pulled something, but I'm taking it easy while my body rebuilds. hopefully this is a good thing! any insight on this would be much appreciated!) LIFE GOAL: Get into a more healthy mindset and more positive attitude by the end of the month This ones going to need some explaining and its kinda a "its complicated" situation, but basically: the girl I've been dating for the past 7 months had been really distant in the beginning of this month, recently I found out she wants to be "just friends" for reasons unknown to me.This has been tearing me apart emotionally, but I'm trying to get thru it. (I think I'm doing okay since I'm usually a very positive person. Right now I've decided to give her tons of space, and at the same time try and get back into dating other people, if for any reason just to get my mind off of her. also working out has been a great help. I didn't plan on doing much cardio this month, but I ran 3 miles in 30 Mins. last Sunday because I was in a lot of emotional turmoil, and that runners high, plus being too tired to think helped me from acting a fool or falling into a deep hole of depression!!) CONCLUSION: Those are my goals for this month and also my current progress baby stepping into transitioning to body weight training, and dealing with my emotions! I'm VERY new to the NF community. In fact, this is my first post, so feel free to follow my progress, say hello, and give me tips and pointers about how to work my way around these forums! Thanks!
