  1. Now out of curiosity, would you guys be offended if i switched my class? I've always liked parkour. I know the basic moves, I like running, and I use the common shoulder roll without thinking, to the point where it is beyond automatic. however, As time goes on, I realized that the only exercise I really enjoy is boxing. Sure, I can do parkour, but I would never train myself to get better at it, other than the like five moves that I have under my belt. This is to say that I don't do my pull ups and push ups to become more proficient. However, with boxing, I practice it everyday in just little ways, I excercise for it, and I research techniques and styles in my spare time. While parkour is fun, boxing is more fun. I think I'm more of a rogue than a full-fledged assassin.
  2. So I've been practicing a few vaults. I'm really a fan of cutting things that don't really help me when I need it, so I think I'll stick with them. They are called the lazy vault, and the kash vault. The one issue I am having with them is transitioning them into a run. Any pointers?
  3. I am going to utah. I'm going to be assigned a few partners there, so I think when I work out, I'll have a buddy there to keep me going. Thanks for the site. Self-blackmail is great. It's also very funny. Is that how you stay motivated?
  4. I know that you guys are there for me, but I need someone to watch me. The reason for this is simple. I'm afraid of yelling. If someone yells, I comply. I've taken note. Also, when there isn't someone watching I don't try as hard. However, when my trainer is there, I give him the eye of the tiger, and prove him wrong. A mixture of defiance and compliance is Key for me. Also, when money is spent, I feel obligated. It works for me, but when I'm out in the field, (I'm going to be a missionary) the playground workout with circuits that I learn will be good. Especially since I have a companion.
  5. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to working out alone. I found a personal trainer to help with my muay thai and cross fitness circuits. It's a lot of fun, and though it's more Monk than assassin, the skills are transferable. the plyometric exercises, the body unity that comes from the punching and stepping simultaneously, and the sprinting and cardio that I've gotten from feeling adrenaline has improved as well. I'm still only excercising twice a week (about an hour each), but as soon as my body becomes used to "feeling the burn," I'm going to try to upgrade to body weight instead of dynamics weights.
  6. Ok, sounds good! Did everyone see that new post about playground circuits? That was perfect!
  7. right on. There is so many good resources here! Well, before I try to exercise like a champ, I have to eat like one. Steve sent me some great suggestions on breakfast, so I have that covered. Carbs are a hard one to pass on, mainly due to it being a staple of diet. Any suggestions for overcoming the breaded beast?
  8. That sounds fair enough. I'll give that a shot. Thanks guys.
  9. well, what would be the most recommended system to crank out one armed chin ups in 4-5 months? I can only do 2 chinups at all. I'm doing muythai for my current workout. I used to be a weight lifter, but I've never gotten past 13 chin ups.
  10. Wow, that chowstalker website is amazing. I turned it on and automatically fell in love. Definately worth a browse. Thank you JJ. As for Mr Ryan, What is the convict conditioning system? It sounds like prison training.
  11. So true. Man, after reading nerdfitness for so long, I've started noticing that everything, everywhere is just reinventing the wheel or placebo effect. Chinups, pushups, squats, running, and dips are all it really takes to look better once you stop eating crap. Now as for training to be a nimble assassin, I've noticed that there is a lot of mental training as well. You need to plan workouts, routes, and improve your memory. When it comes to nerf or paintball there is equal planning and reaction.
  12. Thank you guys! ^^ That's the thing I love about this group, no criticisms, just welcome arms. Thanks for the advice AKlulu. I've been watching nerdfitness, and I recommend the paleo diet to everyone I meet. I guess the one issue I really have is that I know what I need to do, but I need to make a commitment to do it, you know?
  13. Hey fellow assassins and rebels, My name is Evan and I'm looking forward to being the next assassin in the rebellion in our fight against the evils of complacency. So I'm wondering how to improve myself in my goal of becoming more like bourne ( like the jason bourne from the books and movies.) Here's what I have so far. I've trained in karate, kali/arnis, and kung fu to help build up the strength and coordination. After realizing that karate and kung fu aren't really that good for combat, I started muy thai, and am trying to retain the Kali. I'm still doing that. For my parkour training, the shoulder roll is perfect, I can sprint for a while, and I can do the most basic of vaults. My biggest weakness is the precision jumping. So, in short, I'm on my way. Now that I'm learning these, I'm wondering if I can have any help on diet. I am a particularly bad picky eater, and I'm wondering if I can learn a few dishes to help reduce my body fat percentage. I am a big fan of chicken and spinach, but I also like pasta (and pizza is killer because we can get pizza for a 2$ meal. It's the best deal in our local area). Anyone have any dishes or training methods that have helped you on your road to becoming an assassin? I'd love to hear about it. thank you brethren.
