  1. Hey! Sorry! I had a crazy house emergency in January and then I got sick. I appreciate you poking the thread for accountability. I have been sticking to my challenge goals, except for while sick. I did end up quitting RH. I saw a few other people were questioning some of the challenges and if the overall program was for them in the facebook group and they were basically called quitters and it got pretty toxic. I also got kicked out of a subgroup run by RH members because "we weren't paying members and we could use their pages to cheat". It makes no sense to me, but whatever. I used that extra energy to recommit to my diet goals. So I'm back on a strick macro set diet. It's how I lost weight before and it takes the guesswork out of it for me. I did take pictures and measurements. I'm planning on updating those once a month or so. It's not fun, but it helps to see progress when I'm struggling. I have a goal this year to read more books and it was contradicting my "budget for adventure" goal, so I got hoopla. It's an app on your phone that lets you check out books, audio books, and movies from your library. I don't know if University libraries participate, but it has been a game changer for me.
  2. Don't worry about it! I started thinking about it after I posted and I was like "dang, that was really flipping general" I ended up finishing Steve's book the other day and the resources at the end was really what I was looking for. I'm not 100% sure about Rising Heroes. The new missions this week aren't really on track with what I want to focus on and it's hard to keep those in mind AND my 4 week challenge. Everyone is friendly on Facebook, but it is daunting, so I'm quite happy to hide out here in my own thread while I get my feet wet. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. To be honest the 4 week challenge is much more important to me because it's more personal. The 4 week challenge has been going really well so far. I don't want to get ahead of myself since it's only been a few days and there's still a long way to go. HP Boost is going well. I've been drinking a ton more water and I'm really limiting my coffee. Water and coffee are the only things I'm drinking for 4 weeks. I've been able to stick to 0 sugar even when I'm stressed out and feel like chocolate would really help the situation. To curb that I've just been drinking more water. Druid Training is also going well. I've already done yoga twice this week and I've been walking a ton more. This week I've only made it to the gym once, but there's still a few more days left. Adventurer Training is where I've hit the biggest setback. I found out today my car needs about $1500 of surprise work and that puts a huge dent in my budgeting plans. But I'm trying to stay positive and focus on what I can. Wizard Training has been helping with that. Working on leveling up a skill gives my brain a break. I also decided after weighing myself and taking all my measurements on the first that I'm not gonna weigh myself for a whole month. It's actually super hard! I know logically it's just a number and it's more important to be healthy and strong, but it's really been a struggle to feel confident in my progress without that validation from the scale. On the plus side, no more daily obsessing about what the number is!
  3. More generally with the academy or fitness. The gamification of goals really works for me. The price point was a little steep, but I'm willing to try it out for 60 days. I totally get that Nerd Fitness is about more than fitness, but the facebook academy page seems to be mostly NFR posts. Any good fitness related sub groups or resources? I am definitely an analytical nerd and like to do a little research while tipping a toe in, instead of taking a giant leap first.
  4. Honestly the facebook group is a little overwheming, but I'm focusing on my hero missions and pumped about my 4 week challenge! Did you join Rising Heroes? Any tips for a NF newbie?
  5. It is from Kickstarter! Meraki printing. It's so great! A friend has been trying to get me to bullet journal for months and blank notebooks seemed so daunting. I could never get started. This one makes it so easy to get started and has a similar style to the SMART goals where you chunk bigger goals down into actionable tasks. Waterbottle is from the disney store. Was Christmas shopping for nieces and nephews and had to treat ma' self!
  6. To ensure I complete these quests, I started bullet journaling next week a little early. This week's goals are: Finish reading Steve's book Finish Rising Heroes Week 1 Missions Continue working on NF Modules Prepare for Battle!
  7. Hi All! I've been lurking for a while, but now it's time to take the plunge and start my first challenge! Here are my starting quests: HP Boost (Diet): No sugar, even in delicious caramel mocha frappawesomes. +10xp Drink more water, carry water bottle with me at all times. The Avengers are here to help! +10xp Druid Training (Fitness): NF Yoga at least 2x per week +15xp Walk at least 1 mi per day. Outside! Bring the AdventurePup! +25xp 5K at least 1x a week (preparing for summer running club). Outside preferred, but if the weather is below 20, can use treadmill at the gym. +10xp Adventurer Training (Life Goals: Travel): Budget for trip to Dominican Republic in April, need at least $2,100 set aside. +10xp Wizard Training (Life Goals: Skill Mastery): Set aside 30 min 2x per week for creativity: drawing, knitting, sewing. Guilt free, time to level up secondary skills. +10xp Swap mindless internet browsing before bed with reading a book. +5xp Pros: Reading! I'll make a dent in the pile of unread books on the shelf! Trade in finally read books for new books! I'll learn new things!
