  1. Day 10 Recap: BIGGEST SUCCESS: Did not succumb to eating my weight in movie theater popcorn and candy. KidSith and Mr. Sith cannot say the same. BIGGEST CHALLENGE: The family went to see Rogue One. KidSith and I held hands and cried at the end because it broke our hearts. Mr. Sith was like... you guys are ridiculous. So we sniffled and shuffled all the way to the car and cuddled extra before bedtime. Didn't go to bed until after midnight because I was so sad after the movie. SO MANY FEELS I CAN HAZ SAD. Day 10 Diet Pack and bring lunch to work everyday - Nailed it! Brought breakfast and snacks too. Started to track things I eat - not counting calories yet but am aware of the food that I am eating. No coffee, just water, after 10:30 - Nailed it! HR also thinks that something odd is going on. Fitness Beginner Body Weight Work Out 3x a week - Failed. We went to the movies directly after work. Bringing gym clothes for Wednesday 3 miles of walking on the weekend - Mr. Sith took Saturday off and now it is going to rain all weekend. Does anyone have suggestions? Level Up Your Life Keep the kitchen clean! Dishes and trash out every night. - Failed again. Went to the movies. Mr. Sith will do the dishes on Wednesday. Finish that book! 15 minutes - 1 hour of writing everyday - Nailed it. Wrote some HILARIOUS miniquests for the group.
  2. On writing less predictable? http://www.storygrid.com/ Was super helpful for me - and as a plus for you it uses Silence of the Lambs as reference. LMK if you want an ebook copy - I have two! Congrats on the veggie goals!! How is your point system going? I am just using a Pass/Fail system.
  3. Day 9 Recap: BIGGEST SUCCESS: Crowd sourcing bulk cooking and lunch bringing. On Sunday I saw bags of spring mix on sale at Target for 2 for $5 with a $2 OFF per bag coupon... so naturally I texted everyone from work about it. I made corn muffins on Sunday and bulk cooked teriyaki chicken and broccoli. My sister made vegetarian chili and brought that in, later in the week another sister will be bringing in some other bulk cooked meal. (I work with several members of my family.) Healthy breakfast and lunches at work this week = sorted for less than $10. BIGGEST CHALLENGE: Stopping in the middle of Go - Mode where I must DO ALL THE THINGS to do the dishes. Day 9 Diet Pack and bring lunch to work everyday - Nailed it! Brought breakfast and snacks too. No coffee, just water, after 10:30 - Nailed it! The accounting department gave me some side eye, but I only refilled my cup with water. Fitness Beginner Body Weight Work Out 3x a week - Rest Day. 3 miles of walking on the weekend - Nailed it! Switching up the weekend to do something else and shipping KidSith off to bother his aunt and grandmother for the weekend. Level Up Your Life Keep the kitchen clean! Dishes and trash out every night. - Failed. Mr. Sith did dishes during the day, but he worked late and I did not look at the kitchen for the night. I ate trail mix and a piece of dark chocolate for dinner and felt like an Adult. Finish that book! 15 minutes - 1 hour of writing everyday - Nailed it. I watched 4 episodes of Good Eats and rewrote some of KidSith's recipes. I can't read his hand writing so by Mom logic this means that he will be a doctor.
  4. Congrats on your daily wins! KidSith approves of both pizza rolls and PB waffles.
  5. He wants a 30 layered Damascus steel knife that is $600 but I can't remember the brand. Sometimes he calls to ask for something ridiculous so I put him on speaker phone in the office, because no one would believe me otherwise. He called one time to ask if I would buy him gunpowder or nitroglycerin for "experiments" He was 6 at the time.
  6. Frozen edamame is my go-to frozen veggie. I heart edamame. KidSith loves corn and broccoli buy we can only do fresh or we just don't eat it. What do you end up freezing?
  7. One cup only today but it is tenacious. Thanks for commenting!!
  8. Omg this dog is my liiiiiife <3 thank you for the support!
  9. The war of art is amazing if you need a thoughtful meditation on the nature of showing up/ the muse that's not overly woo woo. Shawn Coyne writes The Story Grid which is what I was thinking about, Pressfield only wrote the intro. >_< I have ebook copies of you want to one. I bought the physical books and got the ebooks free to share (these guys have authentic marketing on lock too)
  10. I hope your next two days go well! Imho It sounds like you are being too hard on yourself. Knowing your limits and abiding by them is a victory no matter what your original plans are, especially when injury is a real alternative. I'm in the negative-dexterity-when-tired club too.
  11. Oooh sounds awesome. I am just getting into Steven Pressfield's book on story and editing and in it he breaks down Silence of the Lambs. It's amazing! Let me know if you need any help with acrylic paint, that's my medium and I am a huge nerd about it.
  12. Thank you! I write how I speak so apparently there are comma splices everywhere! But I assume KidSith steals the show most of the time he's the reason for the crazy amounts of walking!
  13. Aww thanks - its just that my entire week of hard work is killed on the weekends when I am out doing things with the kid. If we go to the theme park we are gone for 11 - 12 hours in the day and the "healthy" restaurant alternatives to pizza/chicken tenders is a bowl of iceberg lettuce with 2 cucumber slices. >_< we bought a cooler to leave snacks in the car so we just have to leave the park for a picnic lunch and not do fast food on the drive home. But honestly by the time we get home I don't want to cook or microwave anything so we need an easy, healthy go-to waiting at home. Its not as hard as it sounds when we're not exhausted hunger monsters. The painting stuff is where I stop being silly and start getting serious. I don't want another 2 years in this job and I have already put in a lot of the sweat equity to securing galleries that want to show my work etc. I don't want to show the work that I've been making because it isn't the direction that I want to go in, nor is it something that I want to represent me as an artist or be what people come back to me looking for in the future.... soooooo Now I just need to dive into creating a cohesive series that I truly want to show. Easier said than done! Also, I know that I needed the later 2016 paintings because they were stepping stones to the bigger works, but the bigger works are the HARD work of making the work. I just said work 7 times there, but thank you for the encouragement! What do you write? Writing is my Painting's sidekick.
  14. Week One Review Coffee goal is getting easier, I am only drinking 2 cups a day, and stepping back on the cream and sugar in each cup. I throw away a disposable cup after each one. The finality of throwing it in the trash has really helped. Bulk cooking has set me up for diet success during the week - I have been eating right all during the week. I am a mess on the weekends. I need a solution to this very soon. Writing goals are met, or exceeded, despite my grousing about giving up an evening to spend time with my family running their D&D game. ...what the heck am I going to complain about, now? Tidying up continues to make GrumpyKait grumpy. To make life easier I bought a new mop, new laundry hamper with WHEELS!!! and new food storage containers. Now if I could buy a robot that will load the dishwasher on my chore days... Exercise/ fitness reality check: I have fantastically strong legs and I am amazingly flexible but I am morbidly obese. I have great blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol and I have used those as crutches for not improving my health. Two trips to a theme park makes it something that I can't ignore. I would like to be able to sit in the !&@% roller coaster seat by the time my son is tall enough to ride a real roller coaster. He only has 2 more inches to grow. Also, my arms are like T-rex arms if those dinosaurs also had arms made out of noodles. I will retool my Big Goals and my next challenge will focus on my top three goals: Strength Training, Art Business Level Up, and Go the $@%! To Sleep. Diet will be less in hard focus, just a continuation of my Bye Bye Empty Calories goal. Next Challenge Goal: Art Bizz Level Up
  15. Oh no! That is the worst. I set two alarms because I am the same way. I have one alarm on my phone and one set on an old fashioned radio/alarm clock for 5 minutes later so I have no excuse. If I turn the phone alarm off, then I will still be woken by the other. BUT take it with a grain of salt because getting to sleep on time is my biggest fail. I didn't even add it to my challenges because I knew it would be an immediate fail. I am hoping to build better habits first before tackling that beast.
  16. Fingers-crossed for you that it will! It's so easy to spend money. It was Mr. Sith's job to create the budget so he would be more mindful but .. it was more like a game of sudoku that he immediately forgot. Next month we are going to try a Spending Freeze challenge to see how much we can save if we don't spend money on unnecessary things. The plan is that we both get a small spending allowance in cash and no cards, to last us the month. All of our bills are ACH and I am considering buying a gas gift card and grocery gift card so we aren't tempted to bring out our Debit/Credit cards.
  17. IKEA first For $2 breakfast and free milk for KidSith/free coffee for me so we wouldn't be as hungry before the park and spend money on churros and popcorn. The Google says that Busch Gardens is 335 acres with 70 unwalkable? IDK, I feel safe calling it at 7-8 for the day with the added mile to the parking lot. I only rode the train and the bumpercars, so everything else was standing, walking, navigating rope bridges, or going up & down stairs. This only shows that I need a pedometer asap.
  18. OOOOH YOU REPLIED 4 MINUTES BEFORE I POSTED OUR RESULTS! Get outta my brain. KidSith and I doubled our miles this weekend, at least. I don't have a pedometer, but I did some (very scientific) research on the internet and saw the averages are 6 - 11 miles / day at the park. No coffee on Friday after 10:30, but I did have coffee after 10:30am on Sat/Sun -- only cup of the day, though, and not an all-you-can-drink buffet.
  19. Day 6, 7, & 8 Recap: BIGGEST SUCCESS: I just wanted to be a lump on the couch this weekend, but KidSith insisted on an IKEA + Busch Gardens double feature. We were out at the park for 6+ hours and I walked for miles up and down hill-ish things, over rope bridges, and up and down all the stairs ever. Then I did it again, because the tyrant my loving son insisted on playing in the sand box again when we were literally at the opposite end of the park. Then we did it a third time because the line for the tram to the parking lot looked like my idea of Hell. Instead we walked the mile to the parking lot and the butthead my loving son agreed to race some teenagers down the sidewalks for the last quarter of the trip. So, of course, I waddled after them looking like a penguin doing an impression of a linebacker. Stupid no-good good influence teenagers getting me and my son to exercise more. *grumble grumble* youth these days *grumble grumble* BIGGEST CHALLENGE: Not eating fast food while out of the house on the weekends. I was out of the house for 11 hours on Saturday and even though I packed snacks I still had crap food at the theme park and after the theme park without much of a solution. I got the 2nd healthiest choice in the park... 1st was a bowl of wilting lettuce for $12.99, not happening... ever. Then Taco Bell was the only other option besides McDonald's in 15 miles. Plus, getting the what off the couch on Sunday to do chores is Epic Level Difficulty. I have all the chores to do and there are muscles in my legs that I didn't know I had and they are angry. Day 6 Diet Pack and bring lunch to work everyday - Nailed it! Ate stupid vegetarian lunch with my sister to atone for my enchilada sins. No coffee, just water, after 10:30 - Nailed it! I hugged the coffee pot good bye in full view of the accounting department. Not my proudest moment. Fitness Beginner Body Weight Work Out 3x a week - 2 of 3 Rest Day 3 miles of walking on the weekend - Nailed it! NAILED IT SO HARD. Plus, I got to see a baby rhino up close. Going again next weekend. Level Up Your Life Keep the kitchen clean! Dishes and trash out every night. - Mr. Sith and KidSith do this on the weekdays. I'll take Dishes and cleaning the kitchen on the weekend. Finish that book! 15 minutes - 1 hour of writing everyday - Can I be honest? I did this at work on my 15 minute breaks. Not sure if this counts. Day 7 Diet Pack and bring lunch to work everyday - FAILED. Brought snacks to the theme park, though, and ate breakfast before going. KidSith and I were still starving by 4:30pm, I bought a turkey sandwich and an apple juice. KidSith made me drink an icee, because he thoughtfully got my favorite flavor. What was I supposed to do? slap it out of his hands and say NO CHILD I SPURN YOUR LOVE AND THOUGHTFULNESS AND NOW I WILL STOMP YOU IN THE BUMPERCARS. Probably. But was Mango icee. And it was heavenly. No coffee, just water, after 10:30 - This is a work-week only rule. Had breakfast at IKEA with the kiddo and get free coffee until 11am, but it was only one coffee and then we went to exercise all day. Fitness Beginner Body Weight Work Out 3x a week - 3 of 3 I WAS THAT WEIRDO DOING A WORKOUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THEME PARK. #YOLO ? I didn't do the upper body work out, but will finish on Sunday. Still counting as a NAILED IT!! 3 miles of walking on the weekend - Nailed it x 2. We did over 6 miles, plus stairs and I'm counting the kid's play area as an obstacle course because of all the running children and parents with strollers. Level Up Your Life Keep the kitchen clean! Dishes and trash out every night. - FAILED. I should hire a maid. I hate you, dishes. Finish that book! 15 minutes - 1 hour of writing everyday - FAILED. I went to the park from 12 - 6:50pm, then got Mr.Sith from work, then took KidSith to his dad's house for the night. I ate taco bell, took a shower, and glared at the keyboard before curling into the loving embrace of my new bed. Day 8 Diet Pack and bring lunch to work everyday - FAILED. Ate lunch at IKEA with Mr. Sith. (Was supposed to be breakfast) STOP BUYING FAST FOOD ON THE WEEKENDS YOU DERP. No coffee, just water, after 10:30 - Nailed it? I got Starbucks at Target while buying responsible adult things like toothpaste and mouthwash, thus needed a reward. Forgot what time. Fitness Beginner Body Weight Work Out 3x a week - 0 of 3 Rest Day. 3 miles of walking on the weekend - Nailed it on Day 7 times 2. I really deserve a gold star for this. Level Up Your Life Keep the kitchen clean! Dishes and trash out every night. - Nailed it. Ugggggh, I have all the chores today. Finish that book! 15 minutes - 1 hour of writing everyday - Nailed it, while procrastinating on chores.
  20. IKEA IS THE PLACE WHERE MY PAYCHECK GOES TO DIE. I understand your anxiety x1 million. We just purchased shelving for our living room and a new king-sized mattress from the As-Is section. It doesn't help that KidSith drank the organic-flatpack-lignonberry-Kool-aid and requests to go to IKEA all the time. Mr. Sith is a spender and a big picture guy too but reviewing expenses 2x a week wouldn't get me anywhere. What's your strategy? (I have a spreadsheet with macros, and a budget planned for the next 6 months that Mr. Sith happily ignores)
  21. So I have heard! There were two more who quit to run their own game. The extended family invited everyone they thought would be interested, expecting some people to not be able to make it because of scheduling issues, or think it was just overly nerdy... and then everyone showed. Plus, I cook dinner, and they are all college kids. #wompwomp The Grumpy!Kait is mostly because I am having a hard time getting Mr. Sith to JUST PLAY THE FRACKING GAME. He is constantly worrying about DM stuff and that's my job. (If you gave me this job, then you better sit back while I DO THE JOB. I WILL DO THE JOB SOOOOO HARD, GET OUT OF MY WAY! RAWRRR!!!!) I really don't think that he understands how being a DM works/what DM's job is/ how much math/figuring/dice rolling goes on behind the screen, as as result he does too much meta-gaming. Then I breathe fire. Pixie sticks would make this a much more enjoyable experience. Maybe I can reward inspiration AS pixie sticks for NOT METAGAMING.
  22. I have a bizarre-o inflammation as it is and experience dermatographia daily so as long as I'm not dying I won't avoid a work out. NOT DYING WHOOOOOT! As for the gaming group - they are family so if the experience isn't quite what they hoped I've already told them to go kick rocks. I simply can't compare to a professional voice actor, but if they want to purchase some lesson's I'm down
  23. Oh hey, it's a thing! Makes sense though, I am going to assume it is because I worked pretty hard, trying to complete 3 circuits, and tone it down today. The group is Mr. Sith, KidSith, my 2 sisters, 1 boyfriend, 1 brother, 1 friend -- they mean well but they started with very unrealistic expectations that have calmed a bit. They watch some professional voice actors play on YouTube so expectations were very inflated. Mr. Sith helps co-manage, bless his heart, but he really wants to kill the monsters not wrangle the group. KidSith is evil. He constantly made fires in the tavern, earthquakes, and tornadoes when he was in charge. He's the kind of kid who traps Death in the Sims and makes prisons for villagers in Minecraft. We should have known.
  24. I'm confused by the term Winter Clothes I think that I have shoes that aren't sandals somewhere!
  25. We live in Tampa, Florida but are planning a trip to MI to visit a friend. It is still up in the air, though, so I can make no promises about your closet floor. Our top floor is the 11th floor. I barely make it up 3... that could be a new challenge for me, though!
